As far as i can tell using a Swift Action to cast a spell wouldn't provoke. But using a Ranged attack still does.
Since a swift action spell explicitly doesn’t provoke because of how fast it’s cast, I’d lean toward Scorching Ray still being safe in that situation—even though it involves a ranged touch attack. The ray is a consequence of the spell, not a separate action. I’m curious how others rule it at their tables, especially for Eldritch Knight spell criticals, do you treat the swift spell as fully non-provoking, or split casting and attacking into separate considerations? bitlife
