We were "on our way back." I'm hoping that gets our attention too, horrible as our perception rolls were.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

So where are Fortis and Aishara?

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Thanks Mr. Fortis! You're looking rather statuesque yourself :D Metal shirts or no shirts at all! Especially in this heat. Really, I don't see what the big deal is. I mean, that's how all the women back where I grew up dressed. My father just seemed to take it for granted, but they were his concubines. A lot of the boys around the complex seemed to go to great lengths to try to get in though. They were so easily amused, it was a bit sad really. Anyway, they don't seem to mind too much around here, and it certainly brought in the tips at the tavern. When I wasn't spilling the drinks all over people.

And we might stand a chance hearing this hullabaloo, as long as we're not too far away. DC to hear the sounds of battle is in the negatives :I

F Suli Hospitaller 1

X[ Or not. 'Hey Mr. Fortis, it's such a nice day out, and so safe here, let's go buy everyone some ice cream!' What are the modifiers for hearing combat going on? I hope they're high.

Are Fortis and Aishara back at this point?

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"No harm in the journey, Mr. Fortis. We just found a path that didn't lead where we seek to go." Aishara returns his smile, although she's seldom NOT smiling.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Mr Fortis, I don't think this is really getting us anywhere, and I don't like leaving our charges undefended. We should head back to the group."
She urges Fortis along with her and heads back to where everyone else is.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Seeing that Bois is taking care of Valerie, Aishara glances into a few of the abandoned-looking buildings to try to see anything that might be interesting.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara gives Fortis a shrug and catches up with him.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara eyes the leader of the group critically and uses Detect Evil on him.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Sirs, is there not a peaceable way we could resolve this? A test of faith, perhaps?"

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara turns and eyes the newcomers suspiciously at first, but noticeably brightens at the use of the word "pilgrimage."

"Yes, sir, we seek to meet your master. What will it take to prove our worthiness?

I personally don't think going back in to talk to the Tiefling is a good idea. 1) He looked like he was going to go somewhere. By the time I go back to talk to Aishara and Valerie about it, he'll be gone. 2) I burst into his house uninvited. Thats never a good thing, he might be a bit angry.

Well if he does end up coming out, we can try to judge it from there.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara responds with a quick and forceful "YES," while shooting Summer a dirty look. Her expression then lightens a bit and she adds, "But don't head into the doors until we can head in together. I'd rather we not split everyone up in these strange lands. It would not be easy to protect our charges if we get separated."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Yes, that's VERY curious. I have an idea! Let's start checking doors to see if they lead anywhere."

XP

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Only slightly ameliorated, Aishara drags Valerie off towards the crowd at a quicker pace.

"Thanks Valerie. Let's just go see what these fellows can tell us."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Nice, congrats.

I love that emoticon so much.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Well if it comes to it, Valerie, I bet you and I could do a pretty good job of talking them down. But it doesn't seem like there's anything to be done by just standing here, so what say we do a bit of exploring?" Aishara will offer Valerie her own hand and start walking down the street to the left at a walk, in as non-threatening a manner as possible.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Or if there's any easy way we could find them? Magical auras or anything?" She glances around at the crowds and then puts a hand on her sword. "Be wary, friends, I'm not sure I like the look of this."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Oh dear, guess it's time to go!" She points the dwarves to the portal. "Please stick close by, gentlemen, and we'll see you through this, safe and sound." She'll urge the dwarves on and go through the portal with them.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"I think we can do that, Mister Yithzak, and it's very kind of you to offer such a reward."

Pull for incidentals and looting rights! I just don't think Aishara would be the one to do so.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Swimmingly. It was a good weekend. Now I need another weekend afterthat one.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Paladins have no business sneaking around! And hey, depending on where it is, it could still be easy to cover up.

Wow, I completely missed this whole thread. Sorry to hear that, Zack, certainly take all the time you need. I've been having a good time with this so far, and am more than willing to chill here.

I'm definitely all for a heaping amount of in-character interaction and whatnot. Certainly beats the roll-playing campaigns. That said, I'm certainly not aiming to weird anyone out here, myself included.

Found a cool item in the Advanced Race Guide that I think Aishara would be all sorts of into: Fire Ink (in the ifrit section). Permanent tattoo of Sarenrae that glow as a candle for 10 GP, or torch for 40 GP.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara hustles into the garden and trots up to the gathering while taking in the spectacle. She's wearing billowing red silk pants, familiar from the day before, but this time accompanied by an old but polished breastplate and more flowing silks, including an ornamented headdress. A silver statuette of an angelic woman hangs at her waist from a small pack and a falcata hangs from the opposite hip. There's a large wooden shield slung across her back and a spring in her step as she approaches. She waves to the folks she met yesterday and then offers the dwarves a curtsy. "Hello everyone! I'm Aishara. I'm so excited to be helping you out on your pilgrimage, and I'll be doing my best to make sure that no harm befalls you, and to patch you up afterwards if by chance I fail at the first."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Bois, I certainly hope you were planning on paying for those drinks. That sounds good though, Fortis, I'll see you all there. Dressed somewhat more appropriately."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Akbar, I know I've only been here a day, but I really feel like I might be more use out there with these folk than staying here and serving drinks. You've got plenty of girls here who can actually get a tray to their customers without spilling it, with much more experience and significantly larger...tip potential. I'm better with a sword than a drink tray anyway, and on a personal note I'm curious to see how another fire god compares to the Healing Flame of Sarenrae."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

No one else was taking the shot, so you have squandered your chances and now the glory is all mine! Muahahahaha!

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara leads Akbar back to the group, carrying another tray of drinks and walking a bit more carefully through the crowd in an attempt not to spill them all over the place again, despite the wet tray.

"Gentlemen, Miss Valerie, your drinks. And may I introduce Akbar, he has something to discuss with you."

I will assume, of course, that IT'S A TRAP :D

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Sure thing, boss! Should I bring them back here or will you come out to meet them?"

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara nods fervently to Fortis and then addresses Valerie and Summer. "Oh, that' so wonderful for both of you! I'm very grateful for the gifts Sarenrae has graced me with, but I think that what's most important is what you and I do with our gifts, and who we can help."

At Summer's interjection, she bites her lip concernedly and looks back towards the bar. "Oh my, I get so swept up about these things. Let me go get you some more drinks, gentlemen, miss."

She starts to jostle her way back through the crowd.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Her duties momentarily forgotten, Aishara begins to extol the virtues of her patron deity, complete with sweeping gestures and an incredible, radiant smile.

"Sarenrae? Sarenrae is the light of the sun, the Dawnflower. Her radiance is healing; it's life itself! Her light can burn away the greatest of maladies, of both body and soul. It can break through the vilest black heart and fill it thereafter with love and hope. She is all of this, and she has blessed me with the power to bring a small part of this light to those who are in need of it. That, and the strength of arms to oppose those who would seek to corrupt and destroy." She heaves a visibly contented sigh at the end of her speech.

F Suli Hospitaller 1

"Yes sir, I was a bit of an adventurer myself but I curiosity got the best of me with some sort of ancient relic, therewas a bright flash, and when I woke up I was stranded here. I guess you could say I'm somethinng of a healer and a crusader in the light of Sarenrae.
Miss, I think you'll be okay, this is just something they ask us waitstaff to do. Would you like anything?

F Suli Hospitaller 1

Aishara covers herself as best she can with the tray, now that the drinks are off of it. "Oh, yeah, sorry, the dress code here is a bit more...liberal than back home. Personally I'd be a lot more comfortable with my armor strapped on and my sword at my hip, but it brings customers in I guess, and I heard that this'd be THE place to meet up with the type of people who might actually be able to get me out of this city and maybe back home. And, well, I've gotta survive in the meantime, so here I am, serving you gentlemen drinks and talking yours ears off."

F Suli Hospitaller 1

A young woman dressed like the other waitresses with a round face, light brown olive skin, and dark brown hair stumbles up to the table from out of the crowd, carrying a wet tray of now half-full iced drinks. She starts to hand them out.

"Hello gentlemen, you ordered some drinks? I'm terribly sorry for spilling, it's only my first day here, but could you please not tell the bartender? I can come right back with some new ones. It's been a bit rough for me in this city so far, and I've only been here a few days. Actually, you gentlemen don't really seem to be from around here yourselves. What brings you to the City of Brass? I'm Aishara, by the way."

I switched out Kelish (as it'll be completely useless) for Celestial, which makes some sense for a Paladin really.

No, the other character's a rather dour zen archer monk. She really wouldn't have any bearing on the campaign, I'm just kind of babbling at this point. Should make for at least a moderately plausible backstory once I've got the time to write it up, with the added bonus of making my other character more interesting to play too. Score!
