a) What is your concept? Give me a one or two-sentence description of your character.
I was thinking about an Egyptian wizard who was awakened just before the earth was invaded. He was quietly building a cult that would carry his schemes into the world, but before that could happen, the K’tharen were defeated by the V’sori and with the surprise attack by the latter his well-laid plays of domination were shattered.
b) What do you look like? Hair/eye colour? Height and Weight? Costume? Think of what your mug shot would look like.
He is a tall imposing figure with noble bearing and fair of face. His actual visage is much different, showing a shrivelled corpse-like creature with eyes like burning red coals.
c) What can you do? What separates you from the masses? Brains? Training? Acidic blood? Magic tea cozy?
Magic…plain and simple. He is the last practitioner of ancient Egyptian magic. It was this magic which sustained him through his mummified sleep over the centuries and now fuels his supernatural powers.
d) What have you done? What separates you from a random survivor? Describe a typical crime. There is a reason you could not be at the welcoming ceremony with Champion. If you are a hero give me an example of your heroism and tell me why you were not incinerated for standing with Champion?
In the years since his awakening, he has gathered many to his cause. Through magic and rhetoric, he had created a rather wide spread following of cult members. Known simply as The Brotherhood, the various cells of the cult carried out terrorism, kidnapping and other low-key crimes to fill the coffers of their leader. The attack by the V’sori however ruined his plans and now he is practically back to square one!
e) What have you been doing lately? How have you spent the last two years under V'sori occupation? Most importantly tell me about your capture by the V’sori. Yes you have been captured, no this cannot be negotiated.
He has been hiding from the V’sori for the most part. As his cult crumbled, some gave up information on who he was and his various bases for better treatment by the new rulers of the planet. He has barely kept one step ahead of these invaders and is looking for allies to help fight back, and to save his own life!
As it so happens, Farouk was conned by Martin into setting up a meeting. Martin, appearing lost and on the run, 'stumbled' onto Farouk and asked for help. According to his story, the Nova Magi had all been hunted down and killed by the V'sori and now they were closing in on him. He went on about the enemy of my enemy is an ally and such, and the desperate Farouk fell for it and said he would set up a meeting between Martin and Rekhmire. This was all a lie, as Martin had sold his organization out to the aliens for the chance to take down Rekhmire. In the chaos of the fighting, Farouk escaped while Rekhmire was captured.
f) What have you seen in the world? Detail a hero or a villain or an ordinary person you have ran into, worked with, fought, or just heard about. Maybe a member of Alpha Squadron you tangled with. Maybe a criminal mastermind you worked for. Maybe a taxi driver or whoever ran the newsstand near your old lair. Make them interesting. Think of yourself as pitching a 1 or 2 issue special series for the Necessary Evil comic book we are all creating.
The main enemy of his cult were a group known as the Nova Magi. These mystics and investigators combed the world looking for ancient ‘evils’. Their leader, Nelson Martin is still alive and working for the V’sori to hunt him down. While only a fraction of the Nova Magi still live, Martin has turned them all into slaves of the V’sori.
The only help he had been able to consistently count on is from an elderly Egyptologist by the name of Asmar Farouk. Farouk was one of his first converts and has been a loyal follower ever since. Farouk has some small political pull with several governments and uses this knowledge to assist his “Master”
g) What is the greatest thing in life? What is your desired end state/goal. Tell me what is important to you.
To be worshipped as the living god that he is! To have lands, and riches and slaves to do his bidding. At the moment he would be happy with some allies to protect him until this ‘alien’ crisis is over.
