I am dropping it, even if I wholeheartedly disagree with the ruling. Actually the damage was greater than what you stated but as it is being dropped in the thread I will not belabor the point. I feel it the error was very much on the GM and will leave it at that. If this how GM's and other players on the boards are going to behave, I may just give up on pbp. As my first pbp game, this situation has definetly soured the experience.

Daimon is clearly the one, he keeps stepping in front of me so I cannot see. SMITE, SMASH, TOAST from behind. I suspect what awaits us behond this door will be all too familiar to me. However, being able to incinerate something would be a welcome release of tension. About how long after sunset is it? We can't have been down here too long so far.

Thank you, Master. We shall not dissapoint you. Aevry offers Tearyn a cloth wrapped bundle after our summons from the Cardinal. You keep your blades sharp and eyes sharper. Here is a twin to your new sword. If you keep my back safe I shall watch yours as well.

The usefulness is that scrolls are a move-action to retrieve from a scroll tube/case. So if Aevry gets in trouble, he can 5' step back, pull out a scroll and cast it. And they are cheaper than potions. For the wand to function in combat it would have to be out in someone's hand or they would need a free hand, they would have to walk over to Aevry (CLW has a range of 'touch') and then use it. Given that Aevry will very shortly have a faster movement than anyone in the party, this make using the wand on him problematic at times. Also given that we are not the only group working under Thorne, the scrolls and wand become more useful in a mass combat situation. Also thematically, Aevry prefers scrolls to potions as he is a linguist and has a preference for written words. I think Daimon has a good point, that is an awful lot of money to spend when the group is not that closely knit yet. RP wise maybe we should hold off for now. Aevry justifies the extra sword for Tearyn as being able to cover his ass if they try to sneak up and ambush an enemy. If we don't get the wand just yet I may pickup another Oil of Shillelagh. GM Blood: Would a holy text of Asmodeus be available for purchase? If so Aevry would ask for a good one(25gp for a quality leather-bound one).

Aevry finishes his shopping lists and rubs a hand over his weary eyes.
He rubs his hands over the iron circlet and the new holy symbol.
Aevry drifts off with a small smile, thoughts of holding the Inquisition's feet to the flames dance through his head as he dreams.

I will keep the quarterstaff. Also Tearyn, would you like two MW shortswords? Aevry really doesn't need much in the way of equipment at this point so I'd be willing to buy one for you I like that common pool idea Daimon, and yes lets equip Grumblejack.
Aevry's shopping:
Oil of Shillelagh 50gp 108.52
710-468.52=241.48 Gp left over

The monk takes his time examining the slaves and selects an athletic looking female for his 'companion'. His eyes glitter in satisfaction as he wears his holy symbol on his belt. Aevry looks around and introduces himself to the White Ravens. After he asks Tiadora: Will Grumblejack be joining us?

Aevry frowns as he weighs the outcomes. Ugh..life in the wild...how uncivilized. The camps and road life of the monks was bad enough. Even if he is embellishing, he is well informed and has some resources to exploit already. Heh..and maybe he is Lord Asmodeus' chosen for this task...if not the contract allows for us to overthrow him. I am almost disappointed that an Asmodean contract is so vague and had blatant loopholes left into it. He slices his thumb open and his softly glowing blood wells out. The half-celestial eyes the cardinal coldly and his voice is ice as he signs the contact with his luminous blood. Very well, I vow to aid you as I can so that you may attain the position you deserve...Master. The last word leaves a very bitter taste in his mouth. He unslings a sack from his shoulder and opens it and draws out the brands and brazier from Brandescar. And if it please you Master, I have brought a souvenir from our little excursion, I present you the brands that marked us all. At least he does not know what I truly desire.

Aevry looks Thorn up and down slowly. Claiming to be a cardinal without a church,is akin to claiming to be a general without an army, like one who claims to be a king but no kingdom. Grandiose and empty, and some would take it as a sign of madness.

Aevry eyes Adrastus warily at first and thinks back.
Knowledge Checks for GM: Does Aevry remember Adrastus as a member of the clergy before it was outlawed?
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Knowledge (History): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 And is this guy lying/pretending to be clergy? Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Hmm..green eyes, the description matches. This must be the mysterious benefactor Daimon mentioned. She had the sergeant and the staff all dazed like this and made our escape much easier. I will have to be careful around this one. Aevery tilts his head respectfully to Tiadora. Thank you for your hospitality and intervention at the prison. Allow me to introduce ourselves. Daimon you already have met. Myself I am Aevry, the rather..energetic..one is Tearyn, the pensive girl is Rytara, and this fellow is Grumblejack. Might I have the pleasure of your name? After the brief dialog and introductions are completed, Aevry makes his way to his room and quickly changes and bathes. He tries issuing direct commands to the servants to see if the obey him as well. Seeing if they will hand-feed him. Despite the long night, rough treatment, and inviting looking bed he refreshes himself quickly. If SHE has a Master it will not do to keep him waiting. Ahh.. civilization even if jsut a little bit of it. If I ever have to crawl through another filthy swamp it will be too soon.

The Monastic Training Feat adds 1/2 non-monk levels to Monk levels to determine unarmed strike damage. How would you rule on that? Would the Asmodeus class levels count or only multi/class levels count? How horribly broken would you like to see the party get?

Think Evil....This isn't fairness/altruistic tendencies. This is making sure you get your cut of larger treasures found and limiting the likelyhood of you getting stabbed in the back. It also helps ensure your own power and survival by keeping those around you well-prepared. Heck with a group of Asmodeans I could see us forging a contract along those lines with bylaws and notable exceptions. OTOH we can play it the other way too. There are a thousand and one ways you can make life miserable for the rest of the party and still keep it semi-cohesive. GM Blood, Tearyn what do you think? I am willing to play it either way.

Aevry lets out a shout and charges the fearsome frog and brings his fists down in a hammerblow between the frog's eyes. Charging-Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3+Fire Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 As his strike lands crimson flames flare up around his hands to burn the foul beast.
