Technically, she didn't give the lecture. It was the mere threat of the lecture that hopefully put them to sleep! Yeah, and they are flying reptiles... not dinos. Which she would probably know. Whether or not Jack checked wikipedia and/or google before posting. The lecture was still relevant (and likely boring to most people).

"Now, many people think that pteranodon are a type of flying dinosaur, but it has been proven that, in fact, they are not. Their name is derived from the Thassalonian words for toothless and wing. They are, in fact, a type of pterosaurs, which includes some of the largest known flying reptiles, with wingspans over 20 ft, as you can probably see.
"Adult Pteranodon specimens from the two major species can be divided into two distinct size classes. The smaller class of specimens have small, rounded head crests and very wide pelvic canals, even wider than those of the much larger size class. The size of the pelvic canal probably allowed the laying of eggs, indicating that these smaller adults are females. The larger size class, representing male individuals, have narrow hips and very large crests, which were probably for display.
Adult male Pteranodon are among the largest pterosaurs, and are among the largest flying animals known. The wingspan of an average adult male Pteranodon is 18 ft. Adult females are much smaller, averaging 12 ft in wingspan."

Seeing Dennis ruthlessly attacking the innocent yak, the team's archeologist looks at the flying dinosaur with a look like she is going to give a dissertation on the difference between lizards, dinosaurs and birds. Even before she starts to speak, Bazsil yawns in preparation!
Slumber hex, DC17 will or Dennis falls asleep.

Aeslin grins at Elon's prodding of Baszil. "We really should help defend the village. I am thinking that tomorrow I will prepare different spells, mine don't seems as useful as they were in the city."
She waita to see what the critters are doing?
"Chief Ytazil, do these things often attack like this?"

As the shriek of the flying dinosaurs can be heard, Aeslin scampers out of bed, wincing from the bright light. 'Why did I drink that stuff? So sweet... but didn't seem that intoxicating! What in the hells is that?"
She scampers out to hear Elon asking where she was, as she casts an extended mage armor on herself. "Right here, Elon. Do we need to fight those things? Why not let them just have the carcasses?"
She then casts an extended false life on herself.

At first interested in Mtumbwi's cockfights, Aeslin soon is horrified by what she is seeing. She wants to leave, but is forced to stay by here companion, the weasel. Several times Sebastian looks ready to jump into the fight, but always he is showed away by the shipwright. Aeslin herself barely notices this, mesmirized and horrified as she is... And perhaps the lethal little weasel is lulling her into this state. She doesn't bet, as she doesn't know enough to win, and her daddy taught her that gambling is for fools, unless you have already stalked the odds in your favor.

"As for a road, Gratum, do you the engineering behind making a good road? Maybe we make our own after the tar pits. We should check that out, in any case. Two days, seems a pretty safe first trek out, other than our hunting expedition. I wonder if we could take one of those pachyderms... If only someone could control them...

Aeslin looks on as the Zombie Master berates her team. "Bazsil, it matters not what he thinks. We shall sally forth on the morrow, I would think, and start to discover what is out there. Until then, let us celebrate our success. Still, it is interesting that the beast seemed to have a mind as powerful as its frame, is it not?"
Note: she does not partake in the heart. If required, she will mock eating some, but will allow Sebastian to have some.

Aeslin looks very relieved that no one has died. She makes sure that people are cured up, using wands as needed. Just roll what you need!
"Mtumbwi, I was not laughing at you.... but I can understand the confusion. Be releasing vocal energies in a particular way, which sounds a lot like laughing hysterically, I can cause some of my magical abilities to sustain themselves a little bit longer than normal."

Aeslin watches as the combatants attempt to kill the beast. She then goes to the next trick up her sleeve... Her misfortune hex!(DC17 will or must roll twice and take worse on ALL d.20 rolls. Remember the previous evil eye!)
"That should slow him down, fellows!"

Aeslin smiles at Bazsil's response. "I would love to try out my abilities in real combat... that fiasco back on the other island was regrettable. Seems like so far I can only put friends to sleep, and I don't need my special abilities to do that, apparently.
"So, what sort of beast do you think would be the most tasty, then? Or do we just go and find what we can? You know, Sebastian is a born hunter himself! While he cannot usually go after large game, he's a terror on birds and rodents. Used to keep our house cleaner than any filthy cat would have! He's just so wonderful!"
Realizing that she's gone too far, again, she giggles and says, "See, there I go again!"
She ponders a moment, and finishes with, "So, its too bad these primitives don't have our refined tastes, now isn't it, Baz. Don't think I could ever call you The Grim... that just sounds too silly... sorry. But, as I was saying, I've still got several bottles of the Jeggare, and if they are going to be wasted on them... we might as well use one or more of them to complement our meal tonight."

A look of shock comes over Aeslin's face. 'I am trying, really I am!' She looks like she's about to tear up when she replies.
In Common she says, "I'm sorry , Bazsil. Really, I just wanted you to be able to show off better. I am sure that the little deer that you would have been able to catch that way wouldn't be impressive enough. We are on a mission to prove our worth? Prove to these villagers that we can back up our strong words?"
She sniffs a couple times. "Trust me, Baz, I want us all to all succeed so that we can see these ruins or whatever they are. It is alright to call you Baz, right, that's what you said before to call you?" She looks intently at Bazsil, hoping for a response.
"Oh, and I think that I can bring down the big animals with just a look if you want. Make it much easier. I don't want anyone to get hurt. I don't really know how to treat wounds magically so much yet. I am working on it, but I think I will need to learn a good deal more before I can do that reliably. Do you think that the meat will taste better if the animal is calm and asleep when you kill it?"

While Aeslin is not nearly excited as the boys about going on the hunt, she will entertain them. In fact, she's been itching to find out if her new abilities would be able to stop a tyrant lizard, or a something like a mammoth. She just hopes that her efforts here will be as appreciated.

"So, anyway, when I got to Magnimar, I was able to meet the lovely Venture-Captain Sheila Heidmarch, and stay at her place. I was only there a week or so before she suggested that I go check out this display in a lovely little museum of wild creatures from a far off land. That is where I met Captain Barbarossa, when he was assassinated by a murderer most foul who apparently was just killing him because he was supposed to and then Captain Barbarossa congratulated us for avenging his death so well. Then I impressed him with my knowledge of the items in the museum and my knowledge of the late god Aroden, so he hired me to come here. "I am sorry as well, Mtumbwi. I sort of panicked, and figured the primitives wouldn't recognize my hexes for what they were... maybe I though they would think you were just sick or something. I am surprised that the Zombie Master even noticed... there certainly wasn't much to go on. We all have to work together better. Really that is why Sebastian taught me how to put people to sleep... he didn't think I was doign enough in combat to really help. Had I been able to do that at the shop, maybe it wouldn't have gone as far as it did. Hey, has anyone seen Wrigley? I hope he wasn't washed overboard and we forgot him."
She looks quite thoughtful for a moment. "As for the next zombie master... I hope they aren't common here... while my sleep hexes will work against the humans, they won't on their undead. I can still give them the evil eye, and share misfortune with them, and you know I think we can heal them!" She giggles at that. "I am not good at flashy evocations. I am much better at making us better and them worse."

After Mtumbwi storms off, Aeslin looks at her companions, and says, "Honestly, I didn't think that putting our ruffian of a shipwright to sleep would be a bigger taboo than peeing in their dishes. Well, one never knows with primitives what will set them off. Well, live and learn. I guess I should apologize to Mtumbwi when he's calmed down."
She thinks about things for a while. "You know, I don't think it is healthy for their society to be controlled by a necromancer like that. I don't know which is worse... being attacked by cannibals or being turned into undead when you die. Actually, I think that the former is a cleaner death, since the latter prevents you from properly entering the boneyard. So, I think we should help them out, eventually, and remove that Cihuateteo from power. Oh, and put their ancestors to rest. Yes, that is the proper thing to do."

I totally know that. Aeslin doesn't consider them real magic, just little tricks that Sebastian has taught her. Real magic requires finger twiddling, silly words, and material components.
On the flight back to the boat, Aeslin will do what she can to delay their chasers. 'I need to learn more of the true power, so that silly primitives will know to treat me with respect!"
"Sebastian, let us not ever tell Daddy about this!'

Whatever on the thing... Aeslin wasn't planning on gloating... she was trying to put the necromancer to sleep. Does her slumber hex work? Maybe I missed it.
"What do you mean? It wasn't magic, really.. damnit! These are such savages!" she says to Gado, as she hurries away.

"What? Magics? Why would you think that?"
She looks at Sebastian, who rolls his eyes at her. "I mean, I am sorry... I was merely trying prevent you from being offended by the lout's peeing in the dishes."
"Well, Sebastian, it was inevitable if they are as superstitious as they look. Guess we test out the zombie master's power. I'll be he is lacking."
She looks at the zombie master... giving him a little smile, mentally urging him to sleep.

As Aeslin sees the shipwrights urinating in a bowl, she exclaims, "Wel, I never!"
Deathly afraid they will be offending their hosts, she gives the man a look so stern that he should wilt under it... At least until the magics of the look overwhelm his brain and he passes out where he stands. slumber hex dc17 or falls asleep for four rounds.
In a very loud voice, typical of a tourist trying to get a native to understand her butchery of their language she says, "I am very sorry for my uncouth friend here. This is the first time he ever saw a feast so extraordinary. I am sure he was overwhelmed and such. "
Back in common she yells "Gavin., Cleanup this fool before he wakes. And get some pants on him!"

"The women are in charge? Well, perhaps you are a more civilized people than we have been told to expect. That is quite interesting" Aeslin is quickly scribbling in her notebook. "Is the Zombie-Master your leader? Could you take us to her?"

"Gado, didn't you remember our lessons? I mean, really. Now you've insulted the poor man." she scolds.
She then looks at the man coming to her, excited to finally use her new language. "Greatings, friends. As my partially literate friend said, we are explorers. We want to learn about your wonderful people, and defend you from cannibals that want to eat you.. or us.
"Actually, that isn't my job, I am to record and learn. The big brutes we brought along, it is their job to do the fighting... though me and Sebastian help, don't we buddy?"
She thinks another moment, "Oh, can we set up a base here? We'll trade with you and stuff!"

Aeslin says to Gado with a shocked look on her face, "Eat my eyeballs for dessert? I didn't read that? Why are we here if they are eyeball eaters? By Nethys, I don't want my eyeballs eaten!"
Aeslin looks as if she is going to swim back to Garund, given the panic in her face. She has not left the landing craft, and is currently clutching her familiar satchel.

Aeslin pets Sebastian, as if she is dismissing his words of wisdom. "Well, yes, I know that he hired us to be his archaeologist. That isn't what I meant. I was referring to all of the interesting things that we will learn here.
"I hope I picked up enough journals to record everything. Oh, my word! I was so busy trying to learn the languages of this strange land that I quite forgot to note down what we all learned in the sea voyage. It was quite dramatic, you know."
She sees Bazsil looking off toward the interior of the island. 'I hope he doesn't get us all killed, trying to seduce every island girl he meets. I am quite sure that they'll be as amused by his foppishness as I was!'

"Ah, yes, my partner. Induced narcolepsy. Something I had heard of, but who could fall asleep when you are around? Well, me of course, but only if I am really tired... but you are SO interesting.... Hmmm... just look at people a certain way. Like the bad luck stare, or the evil eye? Hmm... Maybe I'll try it out on someone."
Aeslin gets a mischievous look on her face, as she calls out. "Bazsil! Would you be a dear and come give me a hand?" As soon as he is in range, she tries her new slumber hex on the Anthropologist. (DC17 Will or fall asleep)

Finally over their ordeal, Sebastian and Aeslin carefully walk back onto land. Collapsing onto the beach, Aeslin talks to her familiar. "Sebastian, I don't ever want to do that again. Maybe we can learn enough her to be able to use more powerful magics than the Captain and his shipwright had to work with... after all, they don't seem to be accomplished arcanists, either of them. Maybe we'll be able to get off with a teleport, or a plane shift, or something. We'll have to talk to that Gado, he seems to have a decent head on his shoulder.
"Well, I think its a good thing we studied hard on those languages. I think I have both Polyglot and Azlanti down, at least the basics... and the Dreadtongue seems to be an easily enough understood conglomeration."
