The primary reason why I wanted to cut out some APs was time commitment. If you want to continue, and you still want me along, I don't want to force you to find a replacement.

I understand your pressures, and always put those first. I'll be around on the boards if you need me.

When he's asked, Aerick will go to the funeral, but he'll let Ember say the actual rites. Instead, he stands at the outskirts of the funeral and weaves the magic of his blood over the funeral, setting it in a pall of calm and holy magic.

Aerick is gonna use his consecrate spell-like ability over the grave.

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Aerick watches the proceedings between the Twisted Kin and their group's Delia with disinterest. He is glad the task is done, and when he sees the sorrow on their group's faces, he steps to the fore for a word. "Do not despair, circus folk. She has gone on to her ultimate destiny in the Outer Realms. Someday, you all shall join her there, provided you are of similar spirit. Do not despair, for your separation is far from permanent."

He has nothing further to say, but he looks with anticipation and some greed upon the blade of the reward. A fine weapon, he supposed. And one of his diety's favorites - the better to cut the throats of the suffering and the dying, and the better weapon to have around a home.

"Senseless." says Aerick, turning his back on her and slogging away through the muck. "Senseless suffering that you bring on yourself. I do not suggest that you forget your losses, but loss does not have to be pain. Not once you have wrapped your head around it."

He'll help collect the small-headed girl's remains, though he has no container in which to store them, but he is ready to go.

"Far be it from me to suggest that we leave the remains here, nor that we do not leave the family to mourn for their lost, but I do not wish to remain in this swamp any longer than is necessary. It has already very nearly claimed my life, and I do not believe that I was destined to end my path here." Aerick regards Delia with an impassive but unyielding glare, his eyes burrowing into her. "Do not mock me for not having lost. I have lost many, and lost much, and that is why I must live, and why my time is precious."

He approaches her, his hands beginning to glow. "Something tells me you have lost, too. Mourn, but then move on. Your loved one may have been taken from you, but there is more to life, and there are always important things to do. And please, you are injured. Allow me to heal you. Another compatriot lost due to an ambush or infected wounds would not be what this day needs."

Seeing the broken and destroyed skeleton within the serpentine creature's further discorporation, Aerick merely says, "Well, I suppose we're done, then. The Lady is looking after her now. Shall we go?"

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Aerick pulls the hem of his own cloak towards the wizard. "Well, I ah...already have one of those."

Aerick shakes his head at the mage when he offers his spell. "No. Such spells make me too easy to strike - I would prefer magical protections or speed enhancements, should you have them to offer."

Aerick gasps and sits forward, pushing his face out of the water as his wounds close shut. He is still bleeding, and he grits his teeth with the pain, closing his eyes and showing a feral grin, but he's breathing, conscious, and moving again. He looks to Ember, who had healed him using his Lady's grace, and blinks at her. "Thank you." he says. "May the Lady of Graves bless you."

Then he clutches at his chest and calls upon some of his own positive energy, trying to heal up his wounds at least a little bit more.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

He stands up and grasps Reid by the shoulders without warning or explanation and channels some positive energy into his ravaged body, as well.

Cure Light Wounds on Reid: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

One 1st-level spell remaining today.

I agree. I probably need some more health, but I should be fine in general in melee combat, especially next level.

Seeing that the creature is on its last ropes, Aerick swiftly moves through the swamplands, trying to flank it with the water elemental and the invisible Reid. Once he's in place, he strikes it again with his mace, trying to kill it at last.

Attack, divine favor, haste, judgment, flanking: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 27
Damage, divine favor, judgment, precise strike: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 + 2 + (4) = 19

MA to shift to a flanking position - provokes an AoO. AC 22, or 26 against AoOs. SA to attack with my mace.

I vote to continue on with five. Fewer players is faster and usually more intimate, as long as all of the players are reliable posters.

Alright, as per haste I suppose I'll roll again.

Bolstered by the magic of his compatriots, Aerick feels the world slowing down around him and smiles. It would be almost comically easy to strike the creature again! He thought he hadn't enough time.

Attack, divine favor, judgment, haste: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 1 = 26
Damage, divine favor, judgment, haste: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 11

Aerick grimly tenses his body, ready for combat, before he wades another step forward into melee range with the creature. He drops low, the water level rising on his body, as he settles into a combat pose. He winds up with his main hand and swings his mace hard at the creature.

Mace, divine favor, judgment: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 7 + 2 = 27
Damage, divine favor, judgment: 1d8 + 4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 + 2 = 16

I'm not sure how your combat policy works either, but I'm going to post anyway, just to make sure that nobody's waiting for me.

Seeing the massive serpentine creature crash out of the water and entangle Reid, Aerick immediately drops into a battle position. He wades through the water towards the creature, drawing his mace as he does so. He has no specific knowledge of the creature, so he'll just have to resort to the most possible harm. At the same time, he begins to intone a prayer. "Lady of Graves, this creature I face has reached the end of its time. Empower me so that I might send it to look upon your countenance, and know its fate."

MA to move 10' forward and draw my +1 heavy mace. SwA to active judgment (destruction) to gain a +2 to my weapon damage, and SA to cast divine favor and gain a +2 to attack and damage.

Aerick stands tall beside the elven man mixing his strange chemicals. "You should not be left alone in such a swamp. Perhaps the cleric or the small girl, or both, should stay behind with you while you are helpless. The construct and I, as far as I have seen, are the only ones around with good tracking skills."

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Aerick sighs at his companions. "I suppose I am obligated to inform you that I have some skill at tracking. I have, after all, lived my life hunting the undead. A small girl should be no trouble at all to find, if it will get these folk to move along and us a night in peace."

As he speaks, he begins to creep along the outside of the camp, crouching close to the ground in an attempt to pick up some trace of the girl that had gone missing earlier. "Please keep a modicum of distance from me," he warns his companions, "I do not want you mussing up the tracks."

Survival to track: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Can somebody prove me wrong with an Aid Another, maybe?

Aerick looks with disdain and some disinterest at the proceedings over by the circus performers' tents. So far, the malformed men and women have made no suspicious moves at his companions, so he supposes that it's okay to accept that they weren't bandits. Still, what did they want?

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Have either of you been educated on the healing light of our Lady of Graves, Pharasma?

I think there're too many other gods in your life.

Aerick remains by the group's tents, uninterested in indulging in the attention that he's sure the circus-goers are used to garnering and unwilling to submit himself to their examination. He does, however, keep a close eye on the group he's traveling with, just in case they're jumped by the malformed kin. As apathetic as he is about the circusgoers, and as little as he knows the current group, highwaymen are less than acceptable to Aerick.

For the record, Aerick's got a decent Survival skill if no one else does, so if somebody asks him for help he'd be a good man to have in this situation.

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Zeth - you like comments with the '+' sign in the upper left-hand corner of each text box.

Also, crafting magic items doesn't work like how you think it does. The craft skill is used for crafting mundane items, you need to invest in craft feats to craft magical items. Here, let me link them to you.

Craft Wondrous Item

Craft Wondrous Arms and Armor

There are actually lots of these. They include Wands, Rings, Constructs, Staves, Rods, etc. You need a new feat for every kind of magic item you wish to make.

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Aerick's initial thought process when the wizard mentioned charging for crafting for them was...fraud, but then he came to terms with the fact that the wizard was offering them magical items at a cost that was lower than those that other crafters would offer. However, he can't help approaching the wizard on the road. "Spellcaster, there is no "keep" here. We are merely traveling together and there have been no services exchanged as of yet."

Also, you don't have any crafting feats and thus cannot craft magic items anyway.

Aerick eyes the colourful tents with disapproval as they set up camp nearby one another. He was not full of judgment, like some may have been - Aerick understood what it was like to live a life different from your peers - but rather he believed that exposing yourself to the world in such a way was needless and unwise.

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Aerick turns to Reid, his facial expression completely serious and his eyes flat. "I apologize for disrupting your dinner so rudely, and of course I do not mean to enlist you in any sort of crusade. Your obligations are your own, and mine are mine. The dead do not rest, and so I have scant time to do so myself. I merely mean to ask for what aid you will provide when it comes to pursuing the Whispering Way. Even if that's as little as a description of what you know of them or a pointed direction, I can and will use that and find them."

Aerick gets prickly as Delia and Kendra tell their tale, and one can practically see his slate skin crawl at the mention of the Whispering Way. "Adventure? The Whispering Way are no frivolous matter. Ms. Pilachet, I don't believe that a cessation of your activities is possible or advisable. With such a dangerous group abroad, and you and yours having direct contact with their doings, I believe we must pursue them."

"Miss Lorrimor," says Aerick as he bows his head at the neck. "I am here to interview Miss Ember about the proceedings that occurred at Harrowstone Prison recently. My church informed me that it would be of interest to me and to them, and I am to offer her and her companions my aid."

Aerick shakes her hand before sweeping his head down to kiss the top of it. "Good to meet you. And a wonderfully impressive construct, there. Never have I heard one speak before...how did you get that to happen?"

Aerick is about to go into a long-winded explanation of his presence and his association with the church, and begin his interview of the cleric when the orders come wafting in from the kitchen with the smell. He obediently complies, cutting himself off to unstrap himself from his breastplate and lay it on the ground near the door, and to wash his hands.

When he goes to sit, he is a bit unsure about where to sit, but when directed, he takes a seat and waits patiently to be served. "This looks delicious, young woman. May I ask your name?"

Aerick isn't actually wearing a coat, but he declines removing any piece of his outerwear and giving it to the construct, for the options would be his shield or his armor.

"I am Aerick, and I was sent by the Pharasman church in Lepidstadt to interview Ember Volkin about the proceedings within Harrowstone prison, and also to offer my aid with any further dealings she may have to complete."

As he enters, there comes another knock on the doorframe right behind him, interrupting Aerick. "Thank you very much, young miss. I am still - oh, it seems you have another visitor. Hello, halfling. I am Aerick, it's nice to meet you."

male aethereon inquisitor of Pharasma 4 | hp 24/30 | AC 21, touch 14, FF 17, CMD 19 | Fort +6, Ref +5, Will +8 | Init +6, Perception +10, darkvision 60ft.

Ravengro. A pleasant little town, Aerick supposes. He finds the Pharasman chapel easily enough, although he's a little disappointed to find that the head priest is so old. When he dies, and he will, quite soon, the temple will be without an appropriately powerful high priest.

Still, though, he takes Grimburrow's suggestion and neglects to ask the old man any questions beyond where to find this "Ember V", departing immediately for the indicated address.

There is a knock at the door of Ember V's indicated address. Opening the door reveals a tall, slender, grey-faced man with long, straight, white-grey hair. He wears a black tunic underneath a grey breastplate emblazoned with the silver spiral of Pharasma, thick black pants, and black leather combat boots. Sheathed at his belt are a mace and a dagger, and slung over his shoulder is an unstrung bow and a grey leather backpack. His eyes are a light blue etching on a blank white canvas, and he regards the answerer with them as he extends a hand, his face stony and revealing no emotion. "Ember V., I presume? I am called Aerick. I believe I have been sent to assist you with...matters. May I come in?"

Aerick is partaking of a meal in his simple, small home when the knock comes. Slowly, he wipes off his fork of the sauce from his food and sets it down. He takes a glass cover and sets it atop his bowl to keep the heat in. Then he pushes his chair back and stands up. But he doesn't go to the door just yet. He pushes his sleeves up and goes to his water basin to wet his hands. He dries them with a small, clean white towel.

Actually, speaking of clean, that's the first thing to be noticed about his home. Everything is immaculately clean.

He walks, slowly and deliberately, to the door and unlatches it, opens it. There, stands one of the junior priests of Pharasma. Aerick knows this man. "Hello, Benjen. How is your wife?" he asks, as he receives the letter. He half-listens as he opens the envelope and reads it, in his doorway. Any attempt by Benjen to move away (and there are several) is met by a severe glance from Aerick - Benjen will not leave until Aerick has a chance to reply, if he sees fit.

He finishes the letter, but he doesn't see a need to reply. "Thank you, Benjen." is enough of a reply for him and he re-enters his home, closing the door in Benjen's face.

There is no excitement, no immediate packing and hurrying out the door. Nope, Aerick finishes his meal first, making sure to savor every bite and then wash his dish and put it away before he even thinks about packing.

Ravengro, huh? Aerick had never been there, but he faintly remembers the stories from when the prison had burned down. Harrowstone. It had always sat poorly in Aerick's stomach. He is glad to know that the prison's taint had been removed.

He stands, goes downstairs, and opens a large wardrobe. In there sit a semi-gleaming breastplate, the silver spiral of Pharasma upon its chestpiece, a bone recurve bow, a magical mace, arrows, and a few leftover vials of holy water. His dagger and cloak he keeps elsewhere for easier access. He sighs. He thought he was done with adventuring. Still, the letter had said there were factors at play that were of interest to the faithful of Pharasma. To Aerick, that meant undead, and that was unacceptable. He began to don his equipment.

His departure from Lepidstadt is unnoticed and quiet.

A question for Aerick: What is your relationship/rank within the church of Pharasma? I ask, as character class does not always provide a clear picture of what that relationship or role might be. Obviously you serve Pharasma, but in what way?

Are you part of an Inquisitorial unit, charged with tracking down Necromancy and the Undead, as well as heretics of the church, or are you a regular church member, who just happens to have a special interest in that area?

Are you an official member/employee of the church, or more of an educated dedicated lay-person, like a deacon?

You could be a Priest, as Priest is more a title than a class, and you do not have to be a Cleric to be a Priest.

For reference, here is the entry from the Wiki:

http://pathfinder.wikia.com/wiki/Pharasma wrote:

Worshipers and Clergy

Many of Pharasma's worshipers are those closely aligned with either burgeoning life or terminating death. These include midwives, grave diggers, and morticians. Her priests are typically clerics, diviners, and necromancers that choose not to create undead. Her followers view the undead with hatred and consider them a great abomination. They view putting the undead to rest as a holy duty. The creation of undead is outlawed, and commanding undestroyed undead is not much liked either.
Much of this is not hard and fast, as there is not a great deal of background on the area, so much falls on the question: How do you see yourself relating to the Church as a whole?

Aerick was formerly the member of an inquisitorial unit, tasked with hunting down a particular necromancer, but after the completion of that task he "retired", so to speak. Now, he just serves the Lepidstadt church of Pharasma in whatever capacity they require (typically as a guard or for his expertise or spellcasting nowadays).

Looks good. Just curious, what made you settle on Inquisitor?

Looking over the mechanics, and most looks good so far. A couple questions:
• I'm not seeing an archetype, so I'm assuming you are a straight Inquisitor. Correct?
• Looks like Favoured class was +3 to HP and 1 bonus level 1 spell?
• Are his divine bonuses sacred or profane? (N characters get to choose)
• Skill points appears to be 7/level. Delia and others: what is the consensus, to use or reject the idea of Dex providing bonus skill points?

All in all, looks good, Aerick.

He is indeed a straight inquisitor. The archetypes didn't fit my vision of him.

Those favored class bonuses are correct.

His divine bonuses are going to be sacred.

Should I add the extra 3 skill points/level? I mean, I already think that Dex is the best stat in the game, but I'd gladly add the three skill points :D

In terms of class choice, it was basically because of the following:
1.) My paladin build was really wonky and experimental and I don't think I was down for doing weird stuff.
2.) I didn't want to play a fullcaster, like a cleric or an oracle.
3.) I definitely wanted to play a character with spellcasting abilities, so going straight martial was out.
