Anyone still here? This game got off to a great start, would hate to see it die...

"Working with a goblin? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. You do have a point though, if we run into a door that these keys don't open we'll be in trouble. Crystal, what are your thoughts?"

I'll be out of touch for most of the weekend.

"Number One, why don't you go and bring them here while we prepare the magic?"

As the group prepares to make its way to the gates, Aeldris converses with Crystal.

Elvish:

"So, shall we just lead them across? Or perhaps follow our companion's example and scatter dirt upon it, with a few obscure words thrown in for effect?"

Just want to say, not trying to exclude anyone, it just seems logical to speak in a language the goblins can't understand to maintain the ruse...

Replying to Avala, "We may just have to send them off and hope for the best."

Speaking quietly, Aeldris says to the others, "Perhaps we should provide them with food? As long as they're well-fed, they should keep out of the worst mischief, I would think. As for air-crossing magic..."

Elvish:
"Perhaps we can make them promise to be good in exchange for our 'magical' assistance with the bridge?"

Elvish:

"I suppose we let them go then."

Elvish:

"A sound plan, I will feel better letting them leave if we know their destination."

Speaking in a low voice with the others, Aeldris is similarly puzzled by Bronn's departure. "I had no idea that dwarves were so ill-disposed toward the goblinoid races...my people kill any that cross into our lands, but those are free-willed invaders. These goblins have done no wrong...at least that we know of."

"As for these goblins...perhaps we should ask them where home is before we send them off? We can't have them inadvertently alerting the orcs to our presence."

Aeldris will sheathe his scimitar, stow his shield, and then stand on Crystal's other side, attempting to add some 'weight' to her authority.

Intimidate 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14

Aeldris seems rather bewildered as the goblin speaks to him. He looks towards the rest of the party, clearly at a loss for what to do. "...no. No dig today."

Elvish:

"Well this is an interesting development. They appear to have been enslaved by the orcs...perhaps they might be useful?"

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

As he moves into the room, Aeldris shouts out "Surrender!" in Common, hopeful that the goblins might understand it.

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Aeldris quickly moves into the room, leaving the doorway clear, and prepares to attack the nearest goblin on his right.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

"Eight you say? That's quite a group...we would be wise to flank enemies in order to take them down quickly. I will open the door." Aeldris stows his javelin and retrieves his scimitar, then attempts to open the door. If it is locked, he tries the keys, doing his best not to make his attempts too obvious to anyone on the other side of the door.

Stealth 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (12) - 3 = 9

Also, Aeldris is using his Tactician ability. Everyone deals +1d6 damage while flanking for the next four rounds.

Aeldris takes up the rearguard as the group exits, keeping an eye out for anything approaching from behind. He sheathes his scimitar and instead carries a javelin at the ready.

"These pillars are quite fascinating, but perhaps we should be focusing on the orcs who are probably realizing we're here as we speak? Those pillars aren't going anywhere."

That said, Aeldris heads to the middle of the chamber and keeps a watch on the entryway.

Sorry, I'm still here, just a bit swamped by school...will try and catch a few minutes to post tomorrow.

I'll be scarce for the next few days, family wedding and then college move-in. DM Azoun, please NPC Aeldris if necessary.

"There is something strange about these pillars...don't watch them too closely lest they affect you."

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Aeldris listens to Bronn's translation briefly but becomes concerned as Crystal wanders away and follows her towards the other end of the chamber.

Knowledge: Local (untrained) 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Aeldris walks about twenty feet into the room, looking in surprise at the size of the room after the cramped hallway. He turns briefly to look back at the curtain as well, seeing if there's anything noteworthy about it from this side.

Aeldris will move into the room near the front of the group, sword and shield at the ready.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Knowledge: Nature 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

"The footprints are a good sign...this is the right direction. Be on your guard." With sword and shield drawn, Aeldris carefully opens one of the doors.

Perception1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

"Perhaps we should investigate the direction those orcs came from." Aeldris heads down the hall to the double doors.

"I agree." Aeldris says, slitting the creatures' throats and then hauling them out to the front bridge to be disposed off.

"Perhaps we should hide the horses in one of these rooms with the secret doors--they should be safe from passing patrols such as this one there."

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Aeldris will ready his sword and shield and close with the orcs during the surprise round, and then he'll attack the nearest orc on round 1.

Scimitar attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Scimitar damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Perception1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Aeldris takes a brief look around the room, but lacking a bow, the arrows are of little use to him, and he returns to the hall.

Aeldris takes a position near the front--either at the front, or behind Bronn, should the dwarf desire to lead.

Aeldris will follow his own suggestion regarding the orc and its remains, careful to keep the orc blood off his clothing.

"I doubt we will get much more from this one--he seems unimportant, though oddly defiant. I too am concerned by some of the things he has said. I fear leaving him dead may be as dangerous as leaving him alive--I suggest we dispose of the bodies somehow. That chasm out front might serve well, or perhaps a fire. I suspect we may need to escape this place quickly, and I would rather not have the threat of demon-fueled orcs at our backs."

"Me? I'm here looking for answers. Answers that you seem unwilling to provide." Aeldris places his scimitar at the creature's throat. "This is your last chance, beast."

Intimidate 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Aeldris frowns and narrows his eyes, wiping his boot off on a bit of the dead orc's clothing that's slightly less filthy than the rest. "You know, my friend in the hall would like nothing more than to put his axe between your eyes. So I'll ask again...what are you doing here?"

Aeldris shakes the sleeping orc with his foot. "Time to wake up, orc." As the creature awakens, he states "I hope for your sake you speak Common. You don't want to end up like your companion over there." Aeldris gestures to the bloody remains of the orc Bronn killed. Intimidate1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 "So, perhaps you'd like to tell us what you're doing here."

Aeldris will check out the wardrobe, figuring it would be the logical location for anything of interest. Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

"I am familiar with all forms of the elvish tongue...but not with Orcish. Perhaps it knows at least a few words of the common tongue?"

Aeldris quickly resumes binding the remaining orc.

Looks right to me.

I don't think I did...AC 21. Aeldris is pretty durable for an elf.

Aeldris will take a quick look around the room the orcs were in. Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

"Normally, I would advocate killing the beasts on sight...however, they were not exactly what we expected to find here. Do any of you speak the Orcish tongue that we might interrogate them?" As he asks this, he retrieves some rope and begins binding the unconscious orcs, though it is clear he makes an effort to minimize physical contact with them.

Aeldris takes another swing at the wounded orc.

Scimitar attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Scimitar damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Initiative 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Reacting quickly, Aeldris slices at the orc who opened the door, then swings his shield off his back and into a defensive position.

Scimitar attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Scimitar damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Elvish:

"Orcs!" he mutters in Elvish. "I know how to deal with you."

Was in a hurry earlier...here's my own Stealth check.

Stealth 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5

Aeldris's gestures unfortunately make a great deal of noise as his chainmail moves about.

Aeldris tries to get the others' attention quietly, gesturing in a way he hopes indicates someone is behind the door. He also draws his sword, again as quietly as possible.

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

"I think that would be wisest." Aeldris then goes about making sure Tethis will be comfortable in his absence, speaking to the horse in Elvish to calm it.

That done, he quickly checks over all his weapons and makes sure his shield is easily accessible. He'll then walk down the left hallway until he is near the door.
