About Adina CorrellAdina Correll
Location: Westcrown: Rego Laina District - Recently relocated from her prior home, Taldor. Occupation: Currently unemployed. Looking for work selling highly fashionable clothes and doubling up as a Security Guard. Description: Standing tall, this dark haired and gorgeous woman is happy, positive and confident. She moves with grace in attire almost fit for a Queen, carrying a Great Sword over her shoulder wherever she goes. She may be thin, pretty and innocent looking with a keen eye for fashion, but she's barbaric at heart and as strong as an ox! -----------------------
Before leaving Taldor, Sir Ulrich gave Adina enough money to support herself for up to two months in rented accommodation. She's currently living in the Rego Laina district of Westcrown. This is because Sir Ulrich wanted her to live in a relatively safe environment within a middle to upper classed district. It should be noted that Rego Laina is known for the many nobles, smithies, and armouries currently taking up residence there. Adina frequently visits the Rego Pena district as she likes to view the latest in Chelaxian fashion, seeing what she can mix with her own Taldorian attire. -----------------------------------------
Spoiler:
Having lived in Westcrown for a month already, Adina’s curious as to how people can live under such a Devilish reign without giving so much as a single thought. She wants to find out if this is due to fear or some other darker holding that runs deeper than just having Asmodeus as the prominent God.
She isn't religious but she is kind hearted and won't stand for the harming of innocent, good willed people. The bandits who killed her parents made sure of this. With such a loving and happy personality (unusual for a Barbarian), she loves to meet new people, but if pushed or threatened by an evil person/entity/force, she will more than likely try to kill them. However, she wouldn’t ever do this in cold blood. If an evil character is in the party, chances are she'll ignore them altogether, keeping herself to herself unless they make remarks about her or try to do something she strongly disagrees with. If that happens, she will attack with full force, but generally she prefers to get on with everyone. She won't try to turn people from bad to good. She'll hope that they'll have the willpower to put themselves on the right path. Although, she's fully aware that in a City filled with Devilish and evil beings, this may not be a viable option. When it comes to supporting herself, she’d very much like a job at a high end clothing store within the Rego Pena district and would also like to double up as a security guard for the same store, earning extra money to afford her rent and living costs in her current home. She's very very effeminate but knows she can handle herself in a fight and is fully capable of both selling items of clothing and protecting herself from any troublemakers and thieves. Adina’s very level headed, pretty, thin and strong - Think of your typical beach babe as far as her body is concerned. She’s very elegant with a beautiful figure, but certain things can bring her original nature back to the surface temporarily. This shows that her true roots never died. She just embraced them and merged them into her new life, in her own way. Back in Taldor, she didn't have many friends as she was always under the watchful care of the Knight who brought her up. She travelled to the City of Devils to see what it had to offer (relationships and adventure included). She's Chaotic Good and a lovely person, primarily doing the right thing, although she can get a little carried away at times. -------

Adina's Origins:
There were once a band of people who lived just south of the Verduran Forest. These people made up the Correll tribe, a family of people who relied heavily on their Barbaric instincts to survive.
Adina was born into this family of people. Although the tribe only gave first names to those born into the world, every member adopted the family name Correll. To outsiders this would be considered the Clan name as the tribe itself was made up of a series of different families from different backgrounds, just coming together to adopt the same name. The Correll family were actually a fairly intelligent bunch of individuals and although they used Barbaric instincts to survive, they were quite friendly and only took up arms when hunting or defending themselves. They enjoyed meeting new travellers and often invited outsiders (people not of the tribe) to dine and celebrate with them. The death of all but one:
Growing up, Adina was always exposed to the lifestyle of her family, except with her being so young at the time, everything was done for her. This prevented her from learning the skills she needed to survive alone.
The way her tribe worked was to look after the children, doing everything for them until they reached an age where they could take care of themselves. This ensured they would grow up to be strong and fit, capable of leading long and fulfilling lives. Generally the boys began their transition into adulthood at the age of 14 and the girls at 16. At these ages they were considered old enough to begin taking care of themselves.
They didn’t but burnt the place to the ground anyway, killing all members of the tribe in the process. Well, all but one……
Surviving the attack:
During the madness, torching and slaughter of her family, Adina had managed to sneak off into the forest, fearing for her life and alone in the dark, terrifying woods that up until now, only the adults of the tribe had stepped foot in.
She knew she had to grow up fast and after hiding out for a while, she hurried back to her home, not knowing what to expect. The turning point:
Upon returning to her home, she found little left but charred remains of her settlement, with blood and body parts strewn all over the place.
She searched through the fallen and mutilated corpses until she found her parents. With the positions they were in, it looked as though her father had died in a desperate struggle to protect her mother. Four bandits lay dead around him, but his fall was inevitable. Adina's mother was found laying on top of her father with a deep and horrific gash in her back, laying still with an ash covered face with lines where she'd obviously been mourning her husbands death. A bandit had mercilessly stabbed her in the final moments of her life. Adina broke down into tears, unable to come to terms with what she was seeing. After sobbing almost endlessly for two days straight, the poor little girl, now feeling helpless, realised that she needed to survive alone. She was hungry and in need of a good meal, so picked up her fathers broken great sword (laying beside his lifeless body) and dragged it with her into the forest. Although the blade was snapped in the middle (from her fathers last strike against one of the dead bandits), it was still too heavy for her weak and frail arms to lift off of the ground, but she was determined to survive and took it with her regardless. To begin with, she stuck to eating berries and fruit, knowing it'd be a safe bet and sure enough aside from a few upset tummy's, it was. However, it was water she lacked, but having heard of her people often travelling to the Sellen River for their daily water supply, she knew where she needed to go. The problem was she only had a vague idea of where the river was, not the exact location of it, or what dangers lay ahead of her.
Aside from the lack of decent food and water, many dangers were present in the Verduran Forest. The dangers ranged from Snakes and Ettercaps, to bands of obnoxious fey, river pirates, bandits, and even dragons. Although, her most common enemies were the forest’s more obvious threats such as wild boars, bears, flesh eating plants and massive colonies of giant vermin. As each day passed, she grew more and more independent. Knowing that her father’s sword would be the key to surviving, through much determination she began training her body to wield such a weapon. Over time, her arms adapted to the weight and feel of the blade until she could eventually lift it with little to no problem. After all it was only half a blade. As time passed, Adina’s skill in stealth grew, enabling her to take full advantage of the foliage whilst hunting prey. She quickly learnt how to act in any given situation, knowing when to remain silent and when to hide. After much walking, she eventually found Sellen River and scouted the area for a safe place to sleep/stay.
Located next to the river was a small bush full of berries and a five foot high rock face. When the boar finished drinking from the river, it moved over to the berries a mere 40 feet from where Adina was hiding and began to eat them. This was an opportunity for the poor starving girl to put her new found skills to good use. Adina swung her Great Sword up onto her shoulder and carefully approached the rocky area as silently as possible, in fear of making a noise. This rocky area was directly behind the creature’s location, giving the young Barbarian the advantage she needed, at which point she climbed to the top, waiting patiently for the right moment to pounce on the beast. Certain that the boar had no intention of moving anytime soon, without making too much noise, Adina jumped down 5 feet onto the poor creatures back and dug her blade into its spine. This just angered the beast, making it squeal out loud. The beast ran up river with Adina still attached to its back and in a panic, she grabbed hold of whatever fur she could get a grip of and repeatedly stabbed the beast in the neck and spine. After several minutes of running around, the beast charged towards the water where it came to a sudden stop, sending Adina through the air.
They arrived on land close to the Ruins of Nazilli. The boar still had Adina’s sword wedged into its neck, so Adina spent the next 10 minutes trying to dislodge it (it was rusty and stiff). Thankfully the water helped her situation by washing off the boars scent, preventing other animals from tracking both it and her. As soon as she dislodged her sword, she scouted the area for a secluded area to live in. It didn’t take long for her to stumble across an empty cave where she dragged the pig inside and found some items to create her very first fire. As the months passed, she adjusted to this lifestyle, learning of the surroundings and when the best times were to go hunting, occasionally having to move home from one cave to the next when things got too dangerous. By the time a year passed, she became a stealthy and capable hunter, able to escape some of the most dangerous situations. This made her become feral, wild and incredibly alert to everything going on around her. Shortly after turning 9, she had to change location once more, due to finding a pretty big but unoccupied cave, or so she thought.
When she awoke she found a bear steadily approaching her. It was apparent that this bear was far too big for her to handle and so all she could do was find a way past it to escape the cave. She managed this, but the bear chased her down south and out of the forest that she now called home, entirely. Without knowing, Adina found herself close to Cassomir, far from the Ruins of Nazilli where she had been living for the past year or so. It was at this point where the Knight (Sir Ulrich Van Ousten) found her.
Growing up under the care of a Knight:
It was by luck that the Knight found the girl, as he'd just left Cassomir after delivering an important message to the shipyard.
The Knight asked what she was doing out here, all by herself in such a dangerous place, at which point she told him her story (even with her feral nature, she still knew how to talk, and being only 9 at the time, she managed to explain what happened). The Knight took pity on her, promising to take her in, offering her a much better life. Adina hesitantly accepted, unsure of whether or not she could trust him.
He taught Adina how to read and write, showed her table manners, taught her of diplomacy and how to talk to people properly, how to act like a lady and how to dance. He even taught her how to dress properly and how to fight. In fact, it was he who taught her everything she knows of the Taldorian fashion. She loved him for this. Now, fashion was new to Adina. Having lived in such harsh conditions previously, she didn't have the time to worry about her looks, so Taldorian fashion seemed very strange to her at first. Her people were used to wearing rags and fur clothing made from the animals they had killed. This was a sign of strength among her people, but she looked up to the good Knight and embraced the fashion he had presented to her. Every day she went outside, she saw more and more beautiful women and decided that she too wanted to be considered beautiful. She hated living out in the wild alone. It scared her and traumatised her. She was only young and had to go through all kinds of dangers every day of her life, never knowing if she'd survive long enough to see the next day. Now she was free from this life and loving what this new world had to offer her. Years passed and she grew more and more beautiful as time went on, surpassing those in looks who she looked up to, creating her own pretty but unique dress sense, mixing items of clothing other people wouldn't even dream of. This was her new love, but aside from trying out and buying new clothes, she had little to look forward to, which is why she wanted to travel to Westcrown. She heard of their fashion and saw a few Chelaxian traders, but wanted to experience it for herself, first hand. This gave her the incentive to leave, but before she went Sir Ulrich Van Ousten gave her enough money to support her living costs for up to two months and being a Knight himself, he was pretty friendly with his blacksmith. The night before Adina left, he took her broken sword and carried it around to his friend (Barrata) the blacksmith, where he asked him to de-rust it, melt it down and fuse the metal with his standard supply for a brand new Great Sword, sized appropriately for the now 23 year old woman. When it was finished, Sir Ulrich got his girlfriend to sew together some gold, black and white Taldorian cloth where it was then attached to the handle. Stitched into the cloth were the words (with love, Ulrich). The gold stitching on the black cloth stood out like a sore thumb, reminding Adina of her new found heritage and showing her that people still care. She cried with happiness, hugged Ulrich and kissed him on the cheek before waving goodbye to him and his girlfriend, vowing to return one day. She saw Ulrich as a father figure and loved him with all of her heart. He was very protective of her and always served her best interest.
How her past has effected her:
Alertness: She may have long since left the life of the wild, but her alertness remains. Whenever loud or unfamiliar noises are heard, she immediately stops what she's doing and becomes cautious of her surroundings, stopping still to look around silently, cautious of the dangers that may be around her.
Nightmares: She quite often has nightmares that are a mixture of memories from her time out living in the wild, fused with her overactive imagination and past hauntings of the death of her real parents. Sleeping: Even though she is now in a much safer environment, she always sleeps with her sword by her side, always managing to somehow keep her hand on it. Sword: Dragging her sword across the ground at such a young age became a bit of a trademark for her, as did carrying it over her shoulder at all times. However, now she's older and capable of wielding such a weapon just fine, she only drags her sword along the ground whilst walking towards enemies she wants to intimidate. Normally she just carries her sword over her right shoulder with one hand, as it's just easier for her to swiftly put both hands onto the weapon and swing it straight into action. She doesn't like how much effort it takes to sheathe and unsheathe weapons and doing things her way saved her in the forest too many times to count. She relies on this method. Equipment: Due to her keen liking for fashion, she likes to wear necklaces, rings and tiara's in order to look "proper". She also thinks wearing armour is a good idea due to growing up with Sir Ulrich, but won’t wear anything that impedes movement. A lot of his ways became her own, so she should start out with a chain shirt that will have Taldorian patterns and materials embroidered into it (same colours as her sword handle/hilt).
