Male Human

"Sure kid. Here's the dough." Adam hands him 5 certified credsticks, ¥50 glowing on each.

Male Human

Whoops, didn't realize I hadn't responded here. My bad, guys.

"Sure, Guide, sounds like you've got a good grasp of the situation down here. We're looking for The Pirate's Cove, and someone to talk to for a hardware exchange. Perhaps we can include you in our future dealings, sweeten the deal for you?"

9d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 2, 1, 2, 1, 3, 4) = 26 1 hit :( negotiation to pay less in cash and more in possible weapons for the kid.

Male Human

"Ya know what, omae, I think we could use a local's expertise. What's your rate, chum?"

Adam keeps his "friendly guy" smile in place, despite packing a full sized shotgun (badly) under his suit jacket, along with his other gear.

"Know these parts well, huh?"

Male Human

"I may take you up on that offer. I'm decent with a rifle or shotgun, but didn't bring my Remington with me. Not so much with the automatics, though, they always seem to climb on me when I fire."

Male Human

"Okay, sounds good. Gear up, and let's roll. Anyone know someone down here to start asking? Going in cold is a bit harder, but I'm confident we can pull it off."

Male Human

"Nice. Is that one of your magic tricks? My 'magic' usually comes from beakers and gas dispensers, ya know? Plus using my hands requires me being up close and that obviously is not my strong suit. I would have lasted less than an eyeblink against those chipped up gang bangers."

Male Human

"Yes, by party I mean guns, armor, grenades, and whatever chemical weapons I can scrounge up." Adam looks around the crappy hotel room, seeing nothing worth playing around with immediately present. He frowns at the thought of another firefight like before.

"Man I wish I had my chem-kit with me. Or at least a narcoject. Perhaps that's our line...a runner group looking for non-lethal hardware and some chemical precursors. Seems like the kinda stuff our boy'd be dealing."

Male Human

"Whelp, looks like its time to hit the pavement and ask around. Shall we step out in our party clothes and greet the locals? I believe a few Skraacha members may remember us and have some nice things to say. Perhaps less conspicuously elven wear is in order though."

Male Human

"Probably. Lemme check on the 'trix first, then we'll go have a chat with some locals if that doesn't work."

Spoiler:

Data search for Pirate's Cove: 9d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 1, 4, 3, 4, 3, 1) = 26 0 hits
8d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 4, 1, 2, 4, 4) = 26 1 hit
7d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 4, 1, 2, 4) = 24 2 hits
6d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 4, 4, 1) = 25 3 hits
5d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 6, 2) = 21 3 hits
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 2) = 10 0 hits
3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1) = 8 1 hit
2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12 2 hits
1d6 ⇒ 2 0 hits
Total: 12 hits

Male Human

Bump...?

Male Human

Phones work wonders.

Of course, that's only because my phone is like a mini-pc. (Galaxy S3, btw)

Male Human

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6) = 14 intuition

"I think I've heard the name before, but no more. Wasn't that the old hang-out for all those peer-to-peer warez hackers back in the day?"

Male Human

Heading out for Aruba for the week. Will try to post as I can but I will be in the tropics, so...

Feel free to bot me if needed.

Male Human

Adam places a few calls, mostly leaving voicemails and text messages:

Marco, Dwarf Fixer (Connection 1, Loyalty 1) 10d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 2, 6, 6, 4, 6, 1, 4) = 39 4 hits

Esteban, Human Street Dealer (Connection 1, Loyalty 1) 10d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 3, 1, 4, 5, 6, 4, 1) = 32 3 hits

Sally, Elf Net Reporter (Connection 1, Loyalty 1) 10d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 2, 5, 3, 3, 2, 5, 3, 2) = 32 3 hits

Ricardo, Orc Bartender (Connection 1, Loyalty 1) 10d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1, 6, 3, 5, 6) = 36 4 hits

Michael, Human Salesman (Connection 1, Loyalty 1) 10d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 6, 4, 4, 1, 3, 6, 1) = 36 3 hits

Everyone gets a variation of the same basic message: <Hey, omae! Need some intel on a dealer/hardware supplier by the name of Jack Turner. I hear he works out of the Ork Underground, but could use a bit more narrowed-down info, or the name of someone local to ask. Any background you can get me would be great, as well; any beefs with the big-wig players, anyone want his limbs pulled off, that kinda thing. Thanks, you know how to reach me, chummer.>

"Okay folks, waiting to hear back from my people. I'll let you know what I learn."

Male Human

"Well, face-to-face is where I excel. If we can find someone who buys/sells from Turner, there's our introduction. After all, we like guns, everyone likes chips, and between the two of us they will hardly have a chance to blink."

Male Human

"Good. Because guns blazing worked less than well last time."

Male Human

"Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. Insular, paranoid, and well armed; these Underground types seem familiar somehow." Adam gives a short sardonic laugh before continuing.

"Rick and Cat are gonna need to sleep off the whooping those g-d Reality Hackers dropped on our heads. 'Luckily', I only got shot. The DogWagon folks really know their stuff...there's hardly a scar, even."

"So, out of the box time: we know Turner has a base of operations down here, and we need him for at least 2 of our paydays. How do we get him out of his hidey hole and into our loving arms? Can wr maybe just make a call, set up a meet, and convince him to come along? Its a little far fetched, but with the right doc's, a good story, and maybe some of Cat's finger wiggling, it just might work. "

Male Human

Roger that. Adam's packing a cold-sim rig and some decent Hacking skills, just no real software. Not sure if I'd be of help with a proper hacker though.

Male Human

"MageDoc didn't fix you up? We might need to see a good street doc to get you back on your feet. "

Male Human

<Yeah I'm good with a little downtime. It'll give me a chance to run down a few leads, and take a look at that firmware issue. Plus my suit's all bloody and shot up. Maybe crash down here? No sense splitting too far, in case Turner rabbits.>

<Re: Mac, yeah he's a fixer, set us on the trail of this research chick who went missing. Turner's our lead on her. Supposed to meet a bit ago, don't have many details but it had something to do with a magic rock thinger. Cat knows better than me on that score.>

Male Human

"Hate to see ya go, but best of luck, Chel. Hit us up if you need a little work when ya get back in town."

To the DocWagon medic: "Thanks, omae. I've got some cyber, mostly headware, in case that matter. Appreciate the help."

Male Human

<I'm thinking a little misdirection and chicanery are in order. We find JT, and spill that Ares, via KE & Lone Star are gunning for him. Perhaps there's a ganger green-light out on him. We show up all polite like, care of Gambieanelli, Domo-kun, or whichever big boss you'd like, and extend a gracious offer of asylum and extraction, for a bit of information and 10% of his profits on the BTL trade. Optimally, he walks out with us as his rescue party.>

Adam ticks off items as he thinks of them.

<We need a credible threat, some KE paperwork, and a phone call from one of his big-ticket buyers to really sell this. A couple of KIA hitters wouldn't hurt, either. Any chance we can use one of those Reality Hackers feebs?>

Male Human

<Okay, Athack, you got us. Any further intel on this chump you need bagged?>

Male Human

Heck yeah! I need money!

"I can't necessarily speak for the rest of the team, but I'm in. "

Male Human

Of course Adam's gonna try for more cash!!!

9d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5, 2, 2, 6, 5, 1, 4) + (1, 5) = 41 Negotiation 5 hits!

"Yeah, we're available. Just caught a little flak to start the day, so maybe it's gonna cost a bit more than 3k."

Male Human

Sounds good to me. Backstory for Adam as a burned spy means his fancy warez were blanked from his 'link. Still has decent skill, but no programs to play around with.

Male Human

Adams commlink is an upgraded internal model, stats are on the profile. Not running any 'warez other than legal search&sort stuff.

"Uh...yeah, I guess you could call us runners. You got biz needs handlin'?"

Adam slouches and tries to project a "street" vibe, despite the nice suit and designer shades. The bloodstains help.

Etiquette 9+2-2=9 9d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 4, 4, 6, 2, 5, 5) = 35 4 hits!

Male Human

<Plan is, talk to large and meaty over here, and hope he can break us free from KE's slimy hands. Frank knows him, it seems like.>

Male Human

"Sounds good. You start talking, I'll follow your lead."

Male Human

"Так что, товарищи, у нас есть план относительно изящный экс-фил"

"So, comrades, do we have a plan for a relatively graceful ex-fil?"

Male Human

FYI: I seem to have come down with bronchitis, so posting may be a bit sporadic for a while. Sorry.

Male Human

"Sounds good to me. I'm Adam, by the way."

Adam lies back, milking his time incapacitated so as to avoid KE interest as long as possible.

Male Human

Grats, GMs bro!

Enjoy!

Male Human

"I know your job. Seen plenty of it, usually from your end of the spectrum though. Keep the number, kid. Never know when you might find yourself needing a favor, neh?"

At the mention of questioning, Adam's mind begins to whir once more.

Corporate lead? Biz gone bad? What do I have that'll scoot us outta here with our guns and pieces intact?"

Male Human

Once awake (2-3 rounds after the fight?) (@5/9 wounds, btw), Adam stirs and checks himself gingerly. Feeling the two recently treated bullet wounds in his torso, he lays back down and replays the fight, first by memory then by re-spooling the feed from his cybereyes.

To the team: <Everyone else ok? I think I'm gonna need some better armor if we're gonna get into firefights like that. Not that I wanna do that again. Also, are we under arrest, KE is swarming all over. >

"Thanks, chummer. Saved my bacon. You ever need anything, call me. Seriously. " Adam grasps the hand of the DocWagon medic and 'pushes' his public matrix code to his via AR.

Male Human

...zzz...stimpack...biomonitor...DocWagon...

Adam is not sure if he's dying, in a matrix-tank hallucinating, or about to be unplugged and shown "the real world."

He's also not sure which one he'd prefer.

Male Human

...

Still out for another round, I believe.

Male Human

FYI: I am out of town til tomorrow. Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Dmpc as needed please.

Male Human

And cause us to stock up on chemical weapons. ..

Male Human

HA!

Super gangers take the ex-CIA agent down, causing him to react with swift and righteous justice.

[Pulp Fiction voice]...great and furious anger, shall be visited upon him...[/Pulp Fiction voice]

Male Human

Good news: Adam's stable, so DocWagon can get him and nit just his meat.

:)

Male Human

Yeah...stealth, subterfuge, and chemical weapons are going to be a good idea.

If we make it, that is.

Male Human

Adam went down just like you did...unfortunately.

think I may have spread him a little thin, trying to cover a bit of everything.

Male Human

HA!

"Snoozles"!

I like it!

Male Human

I'm all for it.

Just put it in Gameplay and roll some dice, chummer!

BTW, this is me unconscious -----> x.x

Male Human

Also: welcome aboard, newbies!

Male Human

Glad to see you're feeling better, Cloaked.

Re: new teammates, perhaps they're looking for Jack Turner? A gunbunny/hacker duo who are buying/selling some gear.

They spot the gunfight going down, have beef with the Reality Hackers (or better yet, friends amongst the Skraacha) and step in to help out?

Adam is in no position to argue one way or another, at the moment.

Male Human

Thats assuming I survive the current scene...

:)

Male Human

Think I have this right...Gymnastics 1 Rank, Reaction 3, Partial Cover +2, second dodge -1.

6d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 5, 2, 1) = 15 dodge the 1st

5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 6, 3) = 17 dodge the 2nd

So, 1 hit on attack 1, leaving damage as 9p, AP-1

1 hit on attack 2, leaving damage as 7p, AP-1

Armor Checks
6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 1, 5, 5) = 23 #1 (4 hits, take 5 damage)
6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 1, 6, 1) = 19 #2 (2 hits, take 5 damage)

"Argh..." Adam catches one round in the gut and the second in his shoulder, dropping to the ground in a blood soaked heap as his pistol clatters down.

Currently at 10/9 wounds. Adam will bleed out in 4 more rounds without medical care. His DocWagon bracelet should have activated, but who knows how long they'll take.
