SPECIAL:At the end of each turn that he takes hit point damage, the ragechemist must succeed at a Will saving throw (DC 15, or DC 20 if any of the damage came from a critical hit that turn) or take a –2 penalty on Will saving throws and to Intelligence. These penalties end 1 hour after the mutagen ends and stack with themselves. If the penalty lowers the ragechemist's Intelligence score to 0, the ragechemist is comatose until 1 hour after the mutagen expires.

Background:
Aconitus was very brilliant from a young age. He was top of his class, and even the schools equivalent to star quarterback. He seemed to have everything going for him, and that made the others in town elect him for things he did not necessarily want to do.

After school was over, the town elected Aconitus their protector because he was the strongest. He was able to fend off the occasional goblin attack, or zombie outbreak. He even managed to take on an entire squad of Orc throat-cutters single handedly. One fateful afternoon, the town was besieged by an even greater threat. A lich raised all of the dead from the town cemetery in order to drive away all of its residents. Aconitus was called out to fight, and fought bravely he did. He managed to repel the horde of the undead, but the town pushed him to destroy the lich. They thought Aconitus was invincible and that nothing could stop him.

The lich had retreated to a tomb on the outskirts of the city where he had setup his home. Aconitus followed him there, and was almost immediately dominated. The lich began to run experiments on the young man, and Aconitus began to undergo physical alterations. The torturous experiments caused an unnatural shift in his appearance, but they also made him stronger. Eventually, the lich stopped messing around and came up with a concoction that caused a drastic change in Aconitus's physiology.

After a dose was administered, Aconitus would lose his mind and enter an unquenchable rage. It was as though he was in some sort of angry trance, and he was completely unable to stop himself from destroying everything around him. These experiments continued to the point that Aconitus became almost addicted to it.

After being trapped for a year, Aconitus had lost hope that he would ever leave. He feared that the lich was going to turn him into an undead pet. His resolve was all but non-existent, and he was trying to find way to take his own life. Day after day he was beginning to collect strands of rope and other items to build something to end this torture. He was almost finished when another adventurer happened upon the tomb.

The adventurer took out the Lich with relative ease and freed Aconitus. The adventurer said their name was Professor Lorrimor, and told Aconitus that he was free. Aconitus didn't believe the Professor, and tried to attack him like he would one of the Lich's illusions. The professor could see that Aconitus had lost his mind, and took him in so that he could mend it.

Professor Lorrimor taught Aconitus how to control the beast the Lich had awakened, and eventually weened Aconitus off the need to transform. Aconitus swore revenge on the the very creatures that had caused him so much pain, and the professor showed him scientifically how to do so. After learning so much from the Professor, it came time for Aconitus to leave. He started traveling to the places where the undead thrive. All across Ustalov, he fought to destroy the undead.

So Aconitus took up the trade as an alchemist in order to brew the very concoction that had caused him so much trouble in the past. He swears that he will never use it again, but knows that it could be his only way to survive. He hunts the undead, and tries to protect those whom they threaten. He acts as the professor did, teaching those he meets about the undead's weaknesses. Many have come to call him Dr. Aconitus, and he has embraced this name as it makes him, if only for a brief period, forget about when his mind was all but lost.

Even without the beast, he is still capable of great feats of strength. But Aconitus knows what lurks within him. An alternate personality he has come to call, Mr. Hidicus.
