Family History:
The Blackbone family was a wealthy name prior to Westcrown's unfortunate downturn. Their money was tied up in unscrupulous activities that were uncovered and dismantled by the unyielding authorities. As a result, the vast savings and seemingly endless earnings eventually became figures of debt. They did their best to keep up an appearance of prosperity and pride, which has worked well enough for the time being. However, when one of the drug rings to whom the Blackbone family owed a significant sum of money came calling, word got out that the family was penniless. Their estate was burned to the ground and their name spat on. The family retreated to the streets, hoping to fade into the shadows and be forgotten. But Abberforth would never forget... Personal Story:
Abberforth was but a child when he saw his estate burn. Several of his friends and peers were left in the burning building, their cries of agony haunting his sleep. The memories have caused the Blackbone family to leave a bitter taste in his mouth. This will change, though. It must if Abberforth has anything say on the matter. But how...he had no real power, no real money, no real contacts, at least, he didn't. One dark evening, after getting off work, he found himself in a precarious situation. He had a feeling of dread on his journey through the dimly lit streets of Westcrown. Sensing that he was being followed, he picked up his pace and turned into a shaded alley. He looked behind him to see if anyone had followed him, and it appeared he was safe. Turning back to continue his commute, he was shocked to find a masked man standing face to face without making a sound. The soundless bandits shuffling out of the shadows sent a bone-chilling shiver up his spine as he realized he was surrounded. Without word or warning, he felt a sharp crack on the back of his head. Everything went black... He awoke with a throbbing head, lying on the ground, face up, staring at the stars. Looking down, a large centipede perched on his chest gave him a start and sent him to his feet, brushing the vile creature away. He looked around him, everything was silent and still. As soon as his eyes adjusted to the dark, he noticed something amazing. The bandits that had ambushed him laid flat on the ground in a spiral around his position. There was no signs of life, and no signs of death. But who had saved him? At that instant he realized the voiceless presence in his head. Without words it still managed to command. He looked down as he felt he should, only to see the centipede. A sense of affirmation confirmed that it was the strange creature. Picking it up, he asked the insect, "How did you do this?" In response, his thoughts filled with a single word - "Power". He took the creature home and let it teach him. The previously magically inept human quickly began learning how to alter others' perception of reality, a master of illusion and deception. Whatever this creature was, it served as a harbinger for some greater power. This would be his means to reclaim his sacred name.
Personality and Appearance/Questions:
• Socially, Abberforth is a bit awkward. After his estate burned down he didn't spend very much time socializing and developing his personal skills. Once he found a friend in his mysterious familiar, that eccentricity became further unhinged as he was touched by something beyond comprehension.
