Nah was just normal damage my bad - normal punch - STR 8. So DC 19 vs Toughness. Can't even read my own Character's Profile lol! Have to say the degrees of success on an attack roll are baffling me - are the degrees not just applied to damage/effect rather than on the delivery/attack? Eg - attack - hit or miss, damage (on a hit - vs opponents toughness)

As the goatmen begin to surround him, Atlastic tries to shake off the grogginess; "Gadzooks! Time to thin this herd!" He eyes an advancing foe and shoots a fist to meet it; Rubbery Punch (Unarmed Attack): 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 2, 6) + 10 = 22 vs 6 Dodge so that's a success!

Happy New Year everyone! Just catching up - not going to lie all the maths & ramifications is making my head hurt lol - will just try and roll with it, but correct me as/when/if I go into standard M&M autopilot. Sure there are some great working examples being showcased but big walls of numbers and data just shut some part of me down, as I said I'll try and snag the jist of it all.

Sorry gang - Xmas prep took longer than planned... As Atlastic blinks into the park, he seemingly finds himself surrounded my an army of goatmen, squadrons of imps with a fiendish overlord... Worst still... no audience! The malleable muscleman grimaces as he looks around; "Well... This seems quite the gathering! Best get the show on the road then - Act 1: Thin the herd! Looking at the d20 map seems like Atlastic is alone in the Park? With Gust on the peripheral? He whips out a punch towards the nearest of the big goat-men; Unarmed Attack (Stretchy Punch): 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 2, 1) + 10 = 19 (Range 120ft)

(Perfect) Atlastic nods at Freefall's play then pauses momentarily as the goat-man threat is removed and addresses the crowd; "Ta-da! Ladies, Gentlemen, boys and girls! Thanks to my amazing associate The Frenetic Freefall, the monster is now... elsewhere. So please return to your homes or seek safety while we deal with any other such creatures! Alas we have no time for autographs on this occasion, as we must begone!" (At the final word Freefall ports them to the part)

Dodge vs Goatman Attack: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2) + 6 = 16 (Boo! Hiss!)
GM/Freefall: With me failing Dodge but succeeding in Toughness am I right Ol' Billy Goat has grabbed Atlastic but its kick effectively bounces off his rubber skin? If so when Freefall teleports goatman will Atlastic be teleported too?? Will delay my reaction to Freefall pending what the situ is :)

As Freefall appears and imparts news of a greater threat Atlastic nods and jabs a thumb backward towards the cop and crowd behind him as he mutters an aside; "Good to know bub. First things first tho'... gotta to close the show here for my audience!" He grins and with a dramatic flex, re-engages with the goat-man; "Alright then folks! Let's get this goat on the road!" [Complication (Motivation - Recognition] He flexes again - dramatically shifting into a rolling ball like shape that careers toward the caprine colossus! Move Action (Roll) Roll Up! Roll Up!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 Roll Up! Roll Up! Damage vs Toughness: 3d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) + 10 = 18

Int Check: 1d20 ⇒ 1 And so it begins... thrice damn ye dicebots... Sensing the creature to be both belligerent and brutish, Atlastic opts to communicate through the medium of pugilism; "Okay Gruff - let's test the hair on that chinny-chin-chin eh!?!" Cranking up a punch, the stretchy strongman lets fly - his fist stretching toward the goat-man; (Stretching) Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 10 STR Damageif he hits...

Atlastic frowns as the bleating behemoth steals his thunder. "Afraid it is Officer. Get my fans to safety and I'll have a word with Billy Goat Gruff there..." The malleable muscleman steps forward and shouts toward the creature; "Hey There! You lost? You know Ol' Mac Donnie's Travelling Farm left town few weeks back right?!" He stands ready, but is not letting fly with anything until he has a measure of what he's facing...

Across town Atlastic cracks (actually more of a rubbery creak) his knuckles with a satisfied chuckle as he surveys his latest victory o'er villainy: Slumped before him, a large man wearing ripped jeans, chains and a Pumpkin Mask w/ Mohawk and Spikes Vibora Bay's most famous stretchy strongman beckons the fearful crowd to carry on with their Halloween celebrations; "It's okay folks, scares are over. Ol' Punk'inhead here is out cold as a Bay Pier snow cone... I'll keep him wrapped up until VBPD get here!" In his olde timey strongman costume Atlastic could pass for another of costumed revellers, save for one of his burly arms remaining coiled round the downed villain as a reveal of powers beyond the everyman. He grins as the neighbourhood crowd grow bolder, a contrast to the screams and shrieks that Punkin'head's rampage had elicited minutes earlier. A young lad, dressed in a facsimile of his own costume, completed with elongated sleeves, oversized fist and fake moustache, is encouraged to approach by his camera wielding parents; "Haha. What do we have here!? Lil' Atlastic is it? Lovin' the costume! Come on over lad, let's get a snap with this mook eh?" Emboldened, the boy pops a papier-mâché fist against the Pumpkin mask with a grin, that causes his 'tache to droop. Atlastic grins and twirls his own prodigious moustache; "Alright son, all smiles and remember what do we say to the bad guys? 1-2-3..." As the cameras click, Atlastic and his little doppler both gleefully shout; "YOU'RE IN FOR A LONG STRETCH SLIMEBALL!" Atlastic poses, the kid laughs, the parents smile, the crowd cheers and the villain groans as the blue glow of a squadcar illuminates the scene. Soaking it in the malleable muscleman nods with smug pride; Who says crimefighting doesn't pay!

@Freefall: I'm thinking that Atlastic is very mortal - albeit one enhanced beyond the human ken, and without any blood or ancestral connection to the old gods. He's Atlas in name, but its a apt homage to the Titan and his strength than by design/destiny. The crisis at the circus would definitely work as a way to being him into the fold. Also means while the circus is rebuilding or reforming after said crisis, he's free to roam with this new team (and build on his heroic fame) - didn't see us being based at the circus per say - but open to the idea. Guess it depends on how what the other two players come with? Regards names we could also riff on the Olympian or Titan themes since we're in an "amalgamverse" of sorts? Dunno...

Okay think I've ironed out the skills and Offensive bonuses... Am also not envisaging Atlastic being part of The Guard previously either.

@Ironperenti: Nah chief you're right enough I'm over the PL on those. Let me have a dig and rejig into the numbers and work out a happy medium. Echoing DQ I'll try and get him nailed down o'er the weekend, but if there's a deadline for kickoff I'll keep that in focus.

@DQ: Yeah that would make sense - not fleshed anything on the circus bar its name as Circus Fantastik/Fantastique or some such. Given the unusual nature of acts and curios could easily make them a target for exploitation or victimisation... I'd envisaged part of Atlasic's "strongman act" as lifting a prop of the world - maybe there was a message or prophecy from an oracle or the like about seeking out "the titan who bears the heavens" etc - leads the mythic trio to Atlastic and the circus, overcome the threat (internal or external) and three become four :) |
