Sense Motive Check (Roll 5+1=6), To determine if the guy I have is truthful about his knowledge regarding the guys in the forest.

The newcomer turns his head slightly to speak towards the forest in response to the shout, “I have no intention of sending harm to any more tonight or, hopefully, for the rest of my days. Come out so we can end this through a true parlay.”

Then the newcomer leads the man he has towards the cottage. At his approach, he pulls his hood back slightly to show his face to his potentially new companions, “Greetings, my name is Kajetan Armanno. I have been helping you indirectly for the past several days, and I have much to tell you. First though, I suggest we round everyone up and make a decision.”


"In due time. Under better circumstances," the newcomer shouts back.

Then whispering to the captured man, "How many in the forest? Don't lie."

I gather that we are out of Initiative for the moment.

The newcomer keeps the crossbow pinned on the once fleeing man. Nudging his mouth upward toward the forest by a small degree, he shouts out, "You in the trees. Throw down your weapons and show yourselves. There is no need of more bloodshed."


Assuming that the retreating man is running towards The Newcomer

The newcomer, seeing one of the men fleeing down the path towards him, pulls out his light crossbow and loads a bolt. ‘I cannot let him make it back to Barg,’ he thinks to himself. Taking aim he says, “Stop! Or I will shoot. Don‘t make me kill you.”

Intimidate Check (Roll 14+3=17). Readying an action to fire, if he does not stop. If necessary, Crossbow Attack (Roll 2+2=4), Hopefully he stops …

If I misinterpreted the direction of the retreating man, then The Newcomer will once again cast Daze upon Atrek


The newcomer leaves the forest and moves along the path, determined to help the Bard and confuse the leader. Thinking back to his time at the library when he was so easily able to confuse the librarians while he snuck a book out from under their noses, he moves his fingers attempting to obtain a similar result.

Not trusting his aim with a crossbow to fire at the men engaged in melee and realizing that he is quickly running out of bolts, the newcomer thinks fast. Attempting to figure out where the arrows from the forest are coming from, he grabs a hand sized rock nearby. Hiding the rock in the folds of his cloak, he channels arcane energies to set it aglow. He then covers the rock with some nearby leaves, planning to have them fall off with movement. At an opportune time, he throws the rock near where he believes that the hidden archers are in hiding, hoping the glowing rock will only show its light after it is several feet away from him when the leaves fall off. At the time of the throw he also speaks in a deep voice, "I have said that Arton has shown me the LIGHT. Stop your fighting".

The newcomer tries to plan it where the leaves fall off and bring light to the area just as he is speaking the emphasized word ‘light’. Worst case scenario he believes is that the archers will now be visible.
