So this Society Subdermal Graft states it is a mark to let others know you are an agent of the Society. Sure imposters do exists.
Is there an option for a character past level 2 to get this thingy that all Starfinder agents could have?
In Pathfinder Society 1E i could always buy me my Wayfinder.
I literally would forgo my downtime and pay and get in line for that thing. Be it the 150 Credits or 2 fame or so.
Just a suggestion and it's crazy to call this the ingame signature thingy for agents of the Society and normal agents only being out in the field not doing that evergreen never ever can get it.

At this moment, that augment can only be acquired through playing a particular scenario that grants it. Consider it perhaps a mark of honor for having "officially" graduated from training until it becomes more widely available!
For RP purposes, is it possible to "reskin" an skin argumentation to include a similar effect?

I am hoping that you all will reconsider, and make the subdermal implant purchasable as a general boon in the guide for Season 3. This is the Society's badge of membership! It's important for all agents to be able to get one.
I hate repeating repeatables over and over. If I do repeat them, I like to keep several months between them so that the story stays fresh. I have three new GM babies that I have for various reasons had to start while GMing during this pandemic. In order to get the subdermal implants on all three, I would have to GM the commencement three times in short succession. I would much rather pay 150 credits or 2 Fame. The commencement would remain special because it offered the implant free, but this would allow other field agents to have their badge as well.
Don't get me wrong. The Commencement is a fun and wonderful scenario, but it only stays fun and wonderful if isn't run into the ground. Besides that, I'm an ambitious GM. I love telling fresh stories. I love diving into new adventures. I want to offer up a host of wonder to everyone who sits at my table. There are so many great stories in the SFS catalogue! I want to tell more of them, but I also don't want to deny my players a chance to pick up their badge of office.
Yours,

Complete agreement. I've run the scenario 2x since the pandemic (3x overall) for different groups. It is fun, and wonderful, and I don't want to run it again for a long time. There shouldn't be a "required" adventure to get the symbol of society membership. As others have said, a rational cost for those who didn't play the adventure would be more than appropriate.

The Commencement is a fantastic adventure but it's also the starting point for a 3-year plotline that's now reaching its ultimate conclusion. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a replacement appear in Year 3.

Excellent point! I would not mind other excellent plot-launching scenarios. Though, from Thursty's commentary elsewhere, it sounds like they are trying to loosen up the plot train a little and make more standalone adventures.
I still hope they make the subdermal graft something everyone can purchase!

As a clarification, the word "Reconsider" makes it sound like we've made a firm determination on this to not allow players to get them through other means. Alex was merely stating how things are right now. This does not mean we're not actively looking for ways for PCs to get these subdermal grafts without the use of this Chronicle sheet. :)
