Last week we wrapped up the Actual Play streams of Doomsday Dawn from here at the Paizo offices, but that does not mean that the playtest is over! If you missed the streams you can still catch them on our YouTube channel and over on Twitch. We hope you are having as much fun with these games as we are!

As we go into this holiday week, we here on the design team want to encourage you to continue playing and reporting your results. While we are hard at work making changes to the structures and rules behind the game, you feedback is helping to inform our direction, ensuring that we are making the best version of Pathfinder we can.

So, thank you!

We know that this playtest has been one of the most stressful, challenging tests we have ever put out there. Never before have we tried such a rigorous process, designed to push the system to its limits and while we know it has been difficult, I cannot tell you how much your dedication has meant to the design team and all of us at Paizo. Your dedication in scheduling your group through playtest after playtest, whether it be chapters of Doomsday Dawn, Pathfinder Society scenarios, or homebrew adventures. Your dedication in filling out page after page of surveys to help us collect the richest data we have ever received in a playtest. And your dedication in analyzing and expressing yourselves to help make the game the best it can be. For that, we are truly thankful.

Gah! Second!

Edit : :(

Have a great Holiday with your families, the Playtest will still be here where you left it!

Been an interesting experience so far and my group will still try and finish chapter 7 before the end of the year. Good luck on the re-writes you have the bones of a great system here but it still needs some fleshing out.

You're welcome. My group hasn't been able to do more than a fraction of the playtest, but we did what we could.

I'm thankful for you, our passionate fans, without whom we could not continue to make Pathfinder, tell stories, and share our favorite hobby!

Thank you for taking the time and effort to seriously involve us in this process and take our feedback in consideration. While my group won't be able to finish as many of the surveys as we had hoped, we'll be trying to finish up Parts 4 & 7 before the end of the year to give as much feedback as we can.

And even if my group thinks there are areas that still need to improved, they are already enjoying many of the fixes from issues we had in PF1 and look forward to seeing what the game will be by the official release of 2E. At this rate, its almost a no-brainer that our table will be changing to the new system once it is released, and have high hopes for what it'll become.

Sadly, I wasn't able to participate in many of the play test scenarios what with my group running into issues but I am happy I got to help in any small manner. Here is to hoping Pathfinder Second Edition comes together nicely. I am sure it will be as beloved as its predecessor.

Thanks, Jason and Mark. It's nice to know that our efforts are appreciated.

My group should be finishing up Part 6 of Doomsday Dawn this week, so we have plenty of time to finish Part 7. Two of my more steady players and I will also be attending PAX Unplugged and playing two playtest scenarios there (and I will finally get to see things on the player side). After wrapping up Part 7 of Doomsday Dawn, we should have enough time to complete the Resonance Test as well and perhaps even the last of the 4 playtest scenarios.

I'm running two groups through Doomsday Dawn, both are currently in the middle of part 4. While it's been difficult to keep up with the pace of creating new characters and keeping up to date on all the rules changes, we're really enjoying it and glad to be a part (even just a tiny part) of the development process of our favourite game. We're unlikely to reach part 7 before the end of the year, but we will play the adventure through, and hopefully what feedback we are able to give within the playtest timeframe is useful.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the US!

You're quite welcome. Playtesting has been an interesting and unique experience, and I'm happy my group and I were able to provide useful feedback.

Also, thanks to the wonderful folks at Paizo for being involved in discussions on the boards, admitting to mistakes when pointed out, working tirelessly to make the game better, and generally being cool people.

Thank you for allowing us (the public) to take your system idea and thrash it until it stopped moving, then thrash it some more to see what we broke.

It's been interesting, and I don't regret any of it.

Also thank you for all the responses and the forums, even if we can be a bit nasty at times when it comes to discussing the game we all love.

May the Dev team, the general staff at Paizo, and those of you on these chaotic forums have a fantastic day of Thanksgiving.

Thanks to the Paizo team for all their hard work. Thanks in particular goes to Mark Seifter who I think is a fantastic ambassador for the Paizo team and brand. His participation on the forums, DM fill in for streams (if I got that right), design insight, and overall in depth interaction with the "fans" has been nothing short of impressive.

You're welcome. I'll chime in that the playtest has been challenging and stressful for us as well. We're not done yet, and I imagine most of my playtests will be completed during the holiday season, but the reason we're persevering is because of the great work that was handed to us back in August.

This has been an awesome ride for me. My group hasn't finished yet and I am about to start them part 6 but we will most likely finish before end of December.

The whole process has been really engaging and seeing both appreciation and the engagement of how things developed has me really hopeful. Even the wizard in our party who was the most pessimistic has turned a bit around.

As someone whose first ever tabletop was pathfinder I wish this becomes a sucess and an awesome product everyone can enjoy.

Jason, you and your team have put in a tremendous effort to sift through all the positive and negative to be able to put it all into making a great end product. For that, we're the ones thankful. Hopefully the end result will be something that will be enjoyed for another ten years, and the best of luck to all of you to accomplish it. Happy holidays to you and everyone else at Paizo.

I unfortunately have not had the opportunity to playtest as much as I would like because my group on the whole has a very negative view of the playtest, and in the end they weren't willing to keep up with all the updates. That being said, I personally had a blast with what little I was able to play, and I'm stoked to see the final product. My current group will likely be sticking with first edition and continue playing through many years of Paizo adventure paths we have yet to play, but I can say with absolute certainty that I will be using Pathfinder second edition in any group I put together in the future, especially if they are new players. I believe that with the player and GM feedback that has been put into this playtest, the final system is going to be awesome. Also, though there are some things that need to be addressed in the way the rulebook is written, I found it much easier to pick up and learn than first edition. My first 1e game that I played with experienced players found me meeting them for the first time with what I thought was a well-built character joining a party that was as minmaxed as possible. Needless to say it took me a great deal of time to figure out the system and to learn to keep up with my group. I can say for sure that my favorite thing about the playtest is the easy character build for new players, and a system designed to consistently produce more balanced characters. I hope I get the opportunity to play it more before the year ends. Thanks for all the hard work.

I think some ideas were too radically different from Pathfinder 1.0, without being broken and in need of such a drastic change.
The only thing that i really liked was the "three actions per round" economy.
I hope that the final rules will be a little closer to PF 1.0 than to the playtest.
I really don't like D&D5 and don't want an oversimplyfied rules system (which the Playtest wasn't, it was needlessly complicated).
I hope we'll get a cross between PF 1 & Starfinder (which works out great so far up to level 7).

I regret buying the Playtest, we only played the first two scenarios before all 10 players didn't want to continue, because it wasn't being any fun at all for no one involved.

Removed a post. There's no need to get snippy in the commentary. Since the original post here is a blog of 'Thanks', let's keep this a positive thread. There have been plenty of other opportunities to express your grievances with the Playtest, this thread does not need to be another.

I hope that you can all enjoy Thanksgiving since you likely have to look at a lot of spreadsheets in the next couple of months.

Playtesting (especially while I still tried to follow that schedule) was draining, but I can't imagine that dealing with all those comments and surveys was not also taking up a lot of time.

I still need to give a bit more feedback but hope that the final math will be as great as it can be, now I just want a time machine to see the final version.

---

Can we expect more surveys, potentially one about the survey process and what we would like to request for futures playtests (there are a couple of quality of life changes, that would have made it easier for us to use the playtest handbook and the errata documents).

---

One of the better aspects of this playtest were the updates, especially the last one, and I suspect that had we started with 1.6 a lot of complaints could have been avoided. I am looking forward to the blogs at the start of the next year, about what you learned from the playtest, once data collection is done.

On the contrary Mr. Jason, and the rest of you whom I don't know the names of, Thank you.

I am thankful for him too

I think that he has done useful business for this!
It is very important for this !

Wait a second... is this just a shameless plot to acquire cheap Thanksgiving karma? I won't be a part of that.

Btw, thanks for all you're doing and particular thanks for having so much content available during the playtest. It's enough for my group to have already switched our new campaign to PF2.

Thanks, and thanks again!

Thanks a lot, all the playtest games were are a rewarding experience and reading the playtest forum helped me learn a lot about game design and advantages/flaws of various mechanics. Looking forward to the dawn of new age come August next year.

We've been through 1-4 so far. We decided to skip 5 and jump straight into 6 so we can hopefully get through 7 before the end of the year cut off. It's been a wild ride - thanks!!!

Sovereign Court

I know I've posted a lot of down on PF2 posts lately, but honestly, I am thankful you guys are trying new and different things. I just hope we can find a happy medium and in many places, I think that is where the sweet spot is. The 3 action change is for sure the #1 best change. The addition of Alchemist and Goblin to the core book being #2.

Anyway, thank you all for letting us be apart of this.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep up with the playtest, real-life issues, so I missed this opportunity. But I hope the feedback collected here helps you create a better version of the game you have put forward, because that's the purpose of a playtest. I like the direction the game is taking, although there is much room to improve - otherwise, there wouldn't be a playtest XD
I'll patiently wait for the final version to come. I know that many things will be different between the playtest last time I checked and the final product, and I hope the end result is a game system I can use for my planned campaign projects that still didn't make past paper ^^

My gaming group was not able to keep up with the playtest ultimately but I was still happy to take part.
