Endar the Entertainer |
Endar charges forward using his boarding pike, since he unfortunately carries no blunt weapons at the moment.
pike charging: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Kinn |
Kinn picks his way through the battlefield, pausing to hack at a skeletal frame with a heavy two-handed swing.
Curve Blade @ Yellow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
GM thunderspirit |
Endar and Kinn smash the bones of Yellow together, though they notice Valgrim's warning to be true; neither blow does the damage they think it should!
Blue lumbers forward to stab at Mordenaar with a rusty shortsword!
stabbity: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The kobold steps away from Mordenaar with a yelp and points at him! Will save please!
GM thunderspirit |
Mwahaha!
Mordenaar feels his muscles freeze — he is aware and breathes normally but cannot take move or act, even speak.
The kobold laughs gleefully and calls Mordenaar's parentage into question in Draconic!
Under effects of hold person spell.
You guys are up!
Endar the Entertainer |
Seeing Mordenaar held fast, Endar decides to go after the kobold caster. He tumbles past the skeleton Acro: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14, then comes to his feet and stabs at the kobold.
stab: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Unfortunately he doesn't aim terribly well.
Valgrim |
Valgrim goes around the statue to attack blue...using flat part of blade and flanking with Endar
Scimitar: 1d20 + 3 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 4 + 2 = 15...DMG: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Kinn |
Kinn steps artfully forward, steel grinding against bone as his advance draws his blade from the ruined skeleton behind him. With purposeful footfalls, he ignores the scrabbling interference of the enemy's minion to plunge his ancestral weapon into the kobold.
Please move me southwest of the caster. I'll eat the AoO from the skeleton.
Curve Blade @ Caster: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
GM thunderspirit |
Mordenaar cannot break free of the spell!
As Kinn moves past...
skellie AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Neither he nor Endar can strike the caster, however!
Valgrim steps up and drops the skeleton with the flat of his blade!
Achmed!
Achmed Ifit |
Achmed tries to stab the kobold with his longspear.
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 5
damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
"The creature is too quick. I don't dare try and burn it, least I hurt the others."
GM thunderspirit |
Achmed misses as well!
defensive cast: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
A shimmering staff made of force appears and attacks Endar!
spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
force dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
But misses!
You guys are up!
Kinn |
Kinn tightens his grip and the leather straps creak from the strain. Once again the steel descends. Please move me 5 feet NE.
Curve Blade @ kobold: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Endar the Entertainer |
Endar stabs at the kobold AGAIN.
stab: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Achmed Ifit |
rolling just in case the kobold is up
Achmed stabs again.
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 20
damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
crit confirmation
attack: 1d20 ⇒ 7
damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
GM thunderspirit |
Mordenaar finally shakes the paralysis free!
Endar's pike lands a very solid blow! Achmed does as well! Kinn is less fortunate, however!
Valgrim!
Valgrim |
Valgrim drops his scimitar and sends an arrow at the kobold...
CLB+PBS: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15...DMG: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
GM thunderspirit |
Valgrim's arrow ricochets off an unseen barrier!
The spiritual weapon continues after Endar!
spiritual weapon: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
force dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The kobold then cluthes her staff, atop which is a crude carving of a griffon. Then a sickening burst of negative energy erupts from her and the staff!
negative channel: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
DC 12 Will save for half damage
You guys are up!
Kinn |
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Kinn feels the energy rip across his skin like a rake, yet his determination holds. Ancient steel thunders into the foe.
Curve Blade @ Kobold: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 THREAT Confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 BOOM!
Damage: 2d10 + 8 ⇒ (2, 3) + 8 = 13
GM thunderspirit |
Kinn's devotion to Sarenrae pays off as his blade sinks into the caster's flesh and he watches the light fade from the kobold's malevolent eyes!
Out of combat!
potion of cure light wounds (x3)
cloak of resistance +1
100 gp
The crude idol in the middle actually contains a smaller, well-crafted figurine of gold inside it, worth another 100 gp.
Endar the Entertainer |
Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Endar grunts as the negative energy drains his health, but swings again at the caster. He is about to stab again when the kobold is finished off by Kinn.
He grabs one of the potions, and as long as no one objects, swigs it.
heal: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 That brings me one point short of full, so we're good.
Kinn |
Kinn's muscles look tense long after the kobold falls and he stands, motionless, at the end of his stroke for several long moments. Eventually his grip relaxes and he hastily puts away the elven blade.
(Kinn holds up a hand to Endar, stabbing him with a wand instead of watching him guzzle the potion. Potions are best kept for in combat when Valgrim and I can't get to you. I recommend using the wand instead for now.)
Conflict clouds the half-elf's expression as he looks to see what the group may have missed in the other passage. Anything? Also, did we identify the idol? Knowledge roll?
Valgrim |
"tough bugger" Valgrim says when the fight ends and then looks around...
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Dungeon Master S |
still mostly afk "drink these potions now lads. After that embarrassment, I wouldn't mind that cloak"
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM thunderspirit |
Kinn looks down the west passage and sees that it rejoins the cave in which they descended the rope.
Mordenaar |
Operating on the assumption that those potions have been imbibed and Mordenaar is cleared to don the cloak. It looks like I might be one of the reasonably injured, so I'll drink one.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Mordenaar nods at Kinn before continuing on.
GM thunderspirit |
Mordenaar makes his way down the tunnel, which quickly lowers to its uncomfortable previous height. To the north is a rickety fence made of bone and twigs. Nighttail leans over and whispers That way is the cave of kobold future, You said no need to go there, right? She points down the other way. Chief Roaghaz is down that way. If you take "chief" part away, Nighttail will take the Bloody Vow kobolds and the kobold eggs far from here and never bother humans again. Deal?
Valgrim |
"Seems reasonable. We take out the bad leader and you ensure the hatchlings do not bother other races in the future."
Endar the Entertainer |
Endar follows the others, looking concerned at the deal but not willing to go against his allies.
GM thunderspirit |
Nighttail is clearly pleased by your answer. She agrees to hang out down in the egg chamber while you take care of business.
What's the marching order?
GM thunderspirit |
Mordenaar Percetion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Endar Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Neither Mordeanar nor Endar hear or see anything as they scout ahead. The cramped tunnel turns sharply to the north before them.
Valgrim |
unless needed up front for something, Valgrim will take the rear guard spot.
GM thunderspirit |
A few more steps forward and ...
Morndenaar's boot snags a tripwire, and a dozen vials of alchemist's fire tumble down from their hiding place in the ceiling, igniting a thin coating of oil along the tunnel!
Mordenaar fire dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
Endar fire dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7
DC 15 Refl save for half damage
GM thunderspirit |
If he does and the above Perception check would then be at 20 or above, let me know and we will adapt.
Endar the Entertainer |
Endar does have trapfinding.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16
But he didnt' see it.
As the fire splashes over him, Endar screams like a little girl, then looks embarrassed as he pats out the small fires on his clothing.
Mordenaar |
The scorched slayer gives Endar a look before shaking his head and letting it go.
Once the fires go out, he looks to the party, "Safe to say they know it's coming. Let's be ready."
GM thunderspirit |
Point of order #1: I did already roll a Perception for both Endar and Mordenaar here. I did not include a trapspotter bonus, but a +1 wouldn't have reached the DC.
Point of order #2: The tunnel is still engulfed in flames; are you two still standing there? Asking for a GM friend.
