The story is set on an island roughly the size of England, with more or less the same climate and topography. There is no unified government on the island, instead, there are city-states and small kingdoms. There is, however, an international organism, known simply as the council, with the mission of maintaining peace between its members and organizing defense against external dangers.
The council have nine members
- One for each of the three main human cities.
- One to the church of the Godmind of the axis
- Two for the elven nation
- Two for the dwarven clans
- One for the Svirfneblin
So far, peace has lasted for 130 years.
