South of the free city of Endhome, east of the King’s Road and Trader’s
Way, north of the Forlorn Mountains, and west of the sea, these lands
comprise what are known today as the Sundered Kingdoms, a half-wild
land of scattered towns and villages, a handful of independent city-states,
and few formal borders. It is a land where giants still roam the mountains,
trolls prowl the hills, and unknown beasts walk in the night, a land where
villagers huddle after dark around crackling fires behind puny palisades
while lords remain in their castles and try to ignore the strange cries and
screams that come from outside. It is a land of old kingdoms shattered
by war, new alliances formed for survival, and black-hearted cults that
beseech their dark lords for favor and power. It is the Sundered Kingdoms.

the characters come into contact with the House of Borgandy and appear to be reliable, they are brought before the aged Romero Borgandy and his daughter Isobel, who explains that their cousin Savario has disappeared and must be recovered. They believe that he disappeared in the vicinity of Dead Fiddler Square, and willingly give this information, but they do not mention the possibility that he might be
forging letters of credit. If this is the case, the Borgandys offer a reward of 1,000 gp for handling the situation in Four Corners, and 2,000 gp if they can recover Savario.
Seamus Passeri |
having left the Borgandy meeting
Walking with friends, Seamus smiles and slaps his cousin on the back. "That went splendidly don't you think Ian! Our first day out from under out fathers business and we already have a job!" Winking at Ian, 'No reson not to tease him a little he's so uptight sometimes. he continues. "And did you notice old Romero's daughter Isobel, I'm sure she noticed you!"
Ian Passeri |
Glaring at his cousin slightly, 'this is why they didn't think Seamus can be trusted onhis own, he doesn't take anything seriously.' Ian shakes his head, "It doesn't matter if I noticed Isobel or not Seamus, that's not why were here. And the job won't go very well if we don't focus." He breaths a sigh, "We need to determine where to start."
Ian Passeri |
'Lucian, is the smartest person I know, I'm glad he aggreed to join us.' Nodding in aggreement Ian places his hand ot Seamus' too close shoulder and lightly pushes him, roughhousing as they had since child hood. "What do you think of that idea cousin?"
Seamus Passeri |
Stumbling to the side, Seamus smiles, "A great Idea, I would have just serched his house and gone to his favorite tavern and ask where he went."
at the watch:
entering the public area of the watch, Seamus walks up to the nearest officer, smiling "Excuse me my good man, we are looking for Savario of tthe House of Borgandy can you help us?"
diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Ian Passeri |
Rolling his eyes. 'Hopefully he will let me handle this. he rests his hand on Seamus shoulder, hoping he catches the hint. "My apologies officer, My cousin is excitable. As he indicated we are looking for Savario, we have been hired by his family to find him and were wondering if there had been any reports involving him. any inforation you could give us would be appreciated. Perchance where he was seen last or where he lives or his known haunts."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11wow what a terrible roll, had Seamus roll as well
brvheart |
"The House of Borgondy you say? You can find them at the counting house in Cathedral Square."
He looks grim when you mention Savari, "Savario? You need to speak with Captain Bouchard."
Ian Passeri |
'That's where we just came from, so what's he up too?' Looking from his cousin toward the guardsman, Ian asks, "Is the Captain available?"
brvheart |
He has you wait for what seems like a rather long time and eventually the captain comes out. "Who is inquiring about Savario Borgondy?"
Ian Passeri |
'Finally, the captain, what the blazes is Seamus doing.' Elbowing his cousin, to pay attention, Ian snaps to attention, and gives an appropriate Bow. "I'm Ian Passeri." Gesturing toward Seamus, then Onnello and finally Lucian, "This is my cousin Seamys Passeri and our associates Onnello Ustradi and Lucian Brachtarna. We have been retained by Romero Borgandy and his daughter Isobel to discretely investigate Savario Borgondy's disappearance and any related goings ons."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 wow he sucks at this
Seamus Passeri |
'ouch' Pulling his hands out of his apron pockets Seamus bolts to attention, smiling and nodding, "Yes you may have heard of us, we are of the Passeri merchants, dealers in fine wine, ale and beer."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19 dang maybe I should have given Seamus the charisma
brvheart |
"I am aware that the Borgondys are looking for Savario. All that is known is that he went to the Four Corners a few days ago and has not been heard from since. As to whether he has been kidnapped or turned to a life of crime, that I do not know. He was heading for the Hooded Falcon Inn.
We cannot enter the Four Corners so it is up to you to see what you and uncover there."
brvheart |
This is a large inn with the sign of a hooded falcon over the
entry gate. The gate leads into a courtyard surrounded by the
various buildings of the inn.
Ian Passeri |
'Need to make sure no one else has any questions.' Making eye contact with Lucian then Onnello and finally Seamus, Ian waits a moment to see if anyone else has any questions. After a second, he turns to the Captain, "Thank you for your time Captain, we will follow up as best as we can."
Seamus Passeri |
on the way to the inn, didn't find the Hooded Falcon Inn on the map
Shrugging at Onnello, 'that's a good question, I hope there is some information at the inn.'
at the Inn
Huh, a sign with a hooded falcon, I wonder which came first, the inn or the sign.' Stopping at the door, Seamus smiles "I hope they serve a good beer, don't want to offend a cleric of Pekko." he winks at Ian, "You may want to let me do the talking, these are my kind of people."
He walks in the door, finding a staff member. "Excuse me, could we speak to someone in charge about a customer here, a gentleman named Borgondy, Savario Borgondy."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 LOL
Ian Passeri |
Shaking his head as Seamus winks at him, Ian follows his cousin into the inn. Waiting until Seamus speaks to the staff member. Ian follows up quickly, "Pardon my cousin, Could we speak to the owner or manager. We do have a mystery that needs solving."
diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 wow, that was terrible
brvheart |
"I am Jirander Lamarc. I am the owner here. You want an ale or a room?
The place is busy this time of day. Most of the tables are full of lower class patrons.
lol, a 6 and a net of a 0. Not an auspicious beginning.
Seamus Passeri |
'Don't need a room yet but it's always a good time for an ale.' Smiling, 'Yes four ales please, and if you don't mind a little information." As they move to the table, "Do you know where we can find Savario Borgondy?"
let's try and sense motive on the owner's answer
sense motive: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25 that's better
Ian Passeri |
'An ale, well, all things in moderation.' Moving with the owner and his cousin to the table, Ian chimes in, "Yes, his family is very concerned about him, it seems he hasn't returned home."
if we need more diplomacy rolls please let me know.
Lucian Brachtarna |
'Great, we've digressed to arguing about food and drink, at least the place appears to be reasonably clean.' Shaking his head as Onnello tries to convince his relatives to get food, Ian then uses prestidigitation to clear breadcrumbs off of the table. Looking at the owner, "Do you have something in a red wine?"
the groups going with reasonably trusting right now, I will probably have them a little more suspicious in the future. But hey, their young and it is lunch time.
brvheart |
"Nows look, we don't care for yer snobs here. Why would a Borgondy come here, ay?" retorts the owner.
"We got ale at 2 silver and a bowl of stew for 5. Grab a table and I will send it out."
Ian Passeri |
'Great they hate us, looks like were paying for information.' As the sit at the table Ian leans in and lowers his voice to a whisper as he reaches into his pouch. "They hate us and would not cross the guild for the likes of us, this information is going to cost us. Onnello you stay here and watch our backs. Seamus, Lucian take five Liberty each and see if you can bribe any information out of someone."
When the Ale arrives Ian takes his in one hand and his five cold coins in another and begins trying to gather information.

Lucian Brachtarna |
'Bribes, to bad we can't magic the truth out of them.' Accepting the gold quietly Lucian looks at the ale, "This kind of work calls for brandy, oh well." He then departs the table attempting to gather information/

named Doctor Remora. They say he used to be a professor. Tall man,
he is, bald except for a long, red-dyed braid down his back. Wears a
professor’s robe and talks to himself."
Seamus Passeri |
'five liberty, By Pekko, most of the woman in here would give me a whole lot more than just information for that. don't think that cousin Ian would approve, probably why daddy wanted him along, oh well." When the ale gets there Seamus picks up the coins. "Hopefully money well spent, good luck you two." He then goes and begins speaking to members of the finer sex.

The Four Corners is nearby; the gate’s on Haven Street. You
can’t miss it. Always seems to be filled with criminals, because there’s
some sort of law that the guards can’t go there, it’s owned by a man with
a red braid.
Onnello Ustradi |
in the tap room
Once everyone had returned to the table and informed Onello what they had found out, having drank just enough ale he speaks bluntly, "So does anyone have any good ideas?" he nods his head toward the paladin "I'm sure Ian wants to go talk to this Doctor Remora fellow and explain why right will prevail." Tipping his nearly ale stein toward Seamus, "And our Priest of Pekko think we should just get them all drunk." He looks around the room "And this place doesn't look safe enough to go out to the privy without getting rolled." He smiles, "But I bet the room we rented has windows." He stands up, holding out the keys, "Come on, lets go look at the rooms."
Assuming there is no one who prevents them from going to the rooms, in the room."
Squeezing all four of then into a room Onnello opens the window and looks out, "I bet we could go out a window and move from roof top to roof top. We would need to use a couple of ropes, what do you think."
Ian Passeri |
'Out the window? Is he mad? I would have to take of the armor.' Looking from Onnello to Seamus, "I have rope, but moving through the enemies teritory without armor is very dangerous."
Onnello Ustradi |
Onnello drops his pack and pulls out his own rope. "I will go out the window, find a safe spot to drop a knotted rope for you to climb up. Just in case I will tie my rope to my waist so if I fall you can catch me. Once we are on the roof, we will continue." He looks to Ian, "Can you stow your armor while you climb?" looking to Seamus , "While Ian is taking off his armor you tie knots in your rope, every two foot or so to make it easier to climb." Looking at Lucian, "If you want to cut a few strips off of your armor for tie people that would be fine too."
As Seamus, and Ian and Lucian get ready Onnello looks out the window watching for anyone and looking for the best way to climb to the roof.

You see a two-story building next to the inn you think you can climb to.
Onnello Ustradi |
'I think I can get to that building,' pulling his head back into the room, he takes the knotted rope from Seamus, and ties one end of his rope and hands the other end to Ian, "Here, take the rope, you better let me carry your axe, you won't be able to handle it." tucking the axe in his pack with the Boar Spear, Onnello climbs out the window to the two story building.
swapping ropes with Seamus will keep him at 77lbs so he can carry Ian's axe, that will Ian under 100 and a light load.
climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Ian Passeri |
'Might not be a bad idea after all.' Holding the knotted rope Ian tells Seamus and Lucian, "Ok you two go first, I'll hold the rope."
