The Story So Far...:

The PC's are brought together by The Varisian Harrower Zellara due to their individual ties to Gaedran Lamm, a minor crime boss. Zellara sets the PC's on Lamm's trail and they find and defeat him at his wharfside warehouse. There they also find a brooch belonging to the Queen of Korvosa, Ileosa Arabasti. The PC's determine to return the brooch, which is probably stolen. They are also alarmed to find that Zellara, who brought them together, has been dead for some time, and her spirit, channeled through her Harrow Deck, calls to them to help the City of Korvosa in it's time of travail.

As they leave the warehouse, chaos erupts all around them. The King, Eodred II, who has been ill for some time, has died leaving the very unpopular Queen to reign. Riots, fires, imp attacks, and even an out of control otyugh are encountered. The PC's meet a novice cleric of Abadar, Ishani Dhatri, who offers them healing outside the rules of his order in exchange for their aid. Eventually, the PC's make it to the imposing Castle Korvosa.

The Castle, which sits on the remains of an ancient ziggurat pyramid, opens them surprisingly. The Queen's handmaiden and bodyguard, the feline-like Sabina Merrin, greets the PC's and brings them to a royal audience. Still in mourning for her dead husband, the Queen requests the PC's do her service by meeting with Field Marshal Cressida Kroft for special duty to the crown. The PC's agree and spend a restless night in Korvosa as the city becomes slowly pacified by the services of the Hellknights, the Sable Marines, and the Korvosan Guard.

The next day, the group musters at Citadel Volshyenek, the headquarters of the Korvosan Guard. There they meet with FM Kroft, who assigns them a sensitive mission: Find the deserter Verik Vancaskerkin and his followers and bring them to justice before more desertions happen. The PC's accept this assignment and start the search for Vancaskerkin. They find the bandit and his men, The Cow Hammer Boys, holed up in a butcher shop in Eastgate. The PC's assault the place, killing the henchmen and taking the heart-broken Vancaskerkin alive.

On the way back to the Citadel, the group encounters an angry mob and a fight breaks out. Sent to aid them, Ulgrim finds them under attack by the mob, and Iozif, looking for his friend Sgt Grau Soldado, enters the fray as, does an intoxicated Soldado. They win the day, the dwarf and alchemist joining the party.

They return without further incident to Citadel Volshyenek, reporting to FM Croft of their success.
