Eight warriors enter, one walks out.

Deep in the Trolls Bone Mountain lies the dwarven clanhome of Uzkul Barak. For centuries, the dwarven clanhome has run on an archaic set of rules and traditions. One such tradition is the right to solve legal disputes via trial by combat should resolution via clan elders fail. Three hundred years ago, one Bolgi Steeltooth, a merchant of great wealth and even greater girth, hired the first Champion to fight on his behalf. Since then, dwarves of wealth and prestige began to refuse the dangerous prospect of dueling and instead hired warriors of great skill and little coin to fight on their behalf.

Over the decades, this practice slowly grew until the wealth dwarves began using their Champions for more than trial by combat. Rather, having a victorious Champion became a matter of prestige and pride. This form of conspicuous consumption has finally culminated into a hold-sponsored tournament. As the marketing of the event increased, every merchant, noble, and well to do dwarf scrambled to find the greatest champion that they could muster. And when word of the large amount of prize money filtered through the trade routes, even foreigners of other races began to make the trip, each bringing with them their own bodyguards and soldiers.

After a week of blood sports, only eight warriors are left standing. They are members of all races and specialties. The crowd roars for blood, and gold flows through the gambling halls like water. The only thing left, is to find out to whom the glory and gold goes.
