"oh"

Her voice is quiet, "My apologies then. I thought your group was here to rid this place of its evil, not just replace one follower of Nocticula with another."

She looks at the group as a whole, "I still thank you for saving me and allowing me to accompany you to look for Himotae. I will hold my tongue in future."

Male Human Rogue 15/Shadowcaster 1

"My personal goal is to kill the person in charge of this place and impress on any who take over that if they ever f!!+ with Westcrown they can look forward to a visit from me that ends with them in bloody chunks."

Cassian pauses. "But I have no religious agenda per se."

Male Aasimar Ranger Skirmisher 16

Azhar...merely looks uncomfortable.

Gravlax sighs. "Yes, this place is crawling with evil. And it would be nice to clear it out. But Cassian summarizes my own position well enough. My primary allegiance is to Westcrown."

He is sincere when he says, "My own apologies if we are not the rescuers you hoped for. Yet here we are. Let's go."

GM:
Tarvi Perception due to 120' darkvision: 1d20 ⇒ 4 ~ nope
Vintari Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2 ~ nope
The group gets to the deep shaft that leads into darkness. "Third verse, same as the first two." Tarvi says to herself as the group gets ready to jump.

Perception DC 39 (trapfinding applies):
When you are forty feet down the shaft, you see at the very end of the shaft a number of runes engraved at the very end. Runes designed to seek out good and cripple it.

You can react. You can tell others - they can have a reflex save DC 15 to do something to halt their fall.

If this is Cassian/Zsz they don't think they will set off the trap.

Cassian:
Assuming Cassian says something.

Tarvi Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Tarvi bolts down to her brother casting flight on him so he can actually do his magic to disable to trap. Then she puts on the reverse and moves back up the shaft so she doesn't set off said trap.

DC for the trap is 34 Disable Device.

Male Aasimar Ranger Skirmisher 16

"Love?" Azhar says, not even taking the time to glance at the object of his words, "I think it's damn well high time you started using this thing."

He quickly pulls out a carpet, unrolls it with a flick of the wrist and murmurs "upsidaisium". He reaches out to bring in Amaya, Fiosa, and if he has time..Gravlax.
Reflex dc15: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19

Male Human Rogue 15/Shadowcaster 1

Disable Device 1d20 + 34 ⇒ (19) + 34 = 53

"Trap up ahead," Cassian says. "I'll take care of it."

Male Aasimar Ranger Skirmisher 16

"Thanks." Azhar says, safely out of range, standing atop Amaya's floating carpet holding two beautiful women...and a well armored fighter.

Cassian:
As he does whatever huju is needed to disable the trap, Cassian thinks the trap would have created a disjunction effect up the shaft.

Once Cassian has indicated it is safe, the group is able to descend. Another catwalk in another room. With more iron carved rune surrounding the edge.

The archways leading from this chamber (one north and one east) reveal passages filled with carved images of a heavily armored succubus of over-whelming beauty.

Abyssal:
In my most intimate chamber, I will bestow upon you unfathomable pleasure. In my obscene court you will sate my desires, and bring glory to the Shadow.

North or east, my friends?

Male Human Rogue 15/Shadowcaster 1

"North again?" Cassian asks.

Male Human Mobile Fighter 14 Acrobat 2

Gravlax nods. "Why stop now?"

The walls of this narrow corridor are covered in opalescent eyes, embedded into the dark stone as if it were taut skin stretched over rough bone. Though the eyes do not move, each seems to watch for movement within the passage, and follows those who pass with piercing, unrelenting stares. A rune-encrusted iron door stands at the end of the hallway, behind a quick bend.

Perception DC 43 (trapfinding applies):
The door is closed. When your hand is on the knob - which turns easily - you get the sense that opening the door is a BAD idea.

Of course, if this is Cassian he'll probably want to do so anyway. It is a Disable Device DC 33 to deactivate the Symbol of Death on the other side of the door. Let me know if you don't make it :)

on the other side is just a dead end after a few inches.

Male Human Rogue 15/Shadowcaster 1

Cassian opens the door partway, pauses, fiddles with it for a second, and opens it all the way, revealing a dead end. "All right, then. East?"

Male Aasimar Ranger Skirmisher 16

"East it is."

Heading east the passage splits three ways. Regardless of which one the group takes the door at the end of the passage opens into a 70-ft tall cylindrical room, the door 60-ft from the ground.

The bottom 30-ft of the shaft opens to the (right/left/both ways) connecting to similar chambers. At floor level in each cylindrical room there is another door leading out.

Dozens of manacles hang in the cylindrical rooms, many with prisoners. Vintari makes a low, happy sound. Pointing to one of the prisoners - a tian man. "Himotae." Briefly looking at the group to see if they have objections before flying over to free her friend.

However for map purposes would the group have gone left, right, or straight?

GM:
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

Male Human Rogue 15/Shadowcaster 1

Left is better.

Male Aasimar Ranger Skirmisher 16

GM:
Azhar would have ceded control of the carpet to Amaya by now, but would likely be hitching a ride if they had to go off ground level.

Cassian Merro wrote:
Left is better.

In that case the connection between the three cylinders extends off to the group's right.

Vintari flies down to her friend, looking at the manacles that hold him. Then she stills.
A) Sense Motive DC 30:
And she sees something very very wrong. If you are reading this you can participate in the surprise round.

You would have had time to descend to the ground level before this happened. Including Himotae there are 10 prisoners spread throughout the three connected cylinders.

Each cylinder has a 25-ft radius.

A and B) Perception DC 40 (FE:outsider evil/chaotic):
In addition to the maybe not-Himotae there are two other prisoners that seem... too blase about their condition. One in each cylinder - Himotae is in the middle cylinder.

Miliseconds later he reappears just behind the azata the last of his disguise slouging away to reveal a huge four-armed demon. The creature's natural weapons fall on the almost ready lillend, rending her in pieces the blood spray coating the wall.

Mere seconds after that the demon freezes as Zsz casts a spell.

Two more of the prisoners, teleport free of their bonds, the disguise of humanity falling away like water.

Glabrezu in the Belfry - Round 1

Gravlax takes a little step to the side, and attacks the closest demon. His black blade cuts into the creature's thick hide, rending the armor from the demon's flesh.

The carpet holding Amaya and Fiosa skitters back, moving just out of the reach of the huge demon. Amaya starts to sing a prayer to Phrasma, asking the goddess to guide the souls here to peace. She then casts haste, just managing to catch everyone in the effect (except for dead Vintari).

Tarvi takes takes a jump back, not quite far enough for her to get out of rannge of the big demon, but closer to that goal. (DC21: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34) She closes her eyes only for the briefest of moments, bringing all of her arcane skill to bear faster than she is used to and her twilight knife forms in the air next to her.

Cassian cuts into the nearest demon. Twice his blades are deflected by the glabrezu's thick hide but the rest of his swift attacks cut in but only a little compared to the massive damage he normally does.

Fiosa, safe in her corner on the magic carpet with Amaya, prays for the safety of the group, beseeches Sarenrae to protect the group. (1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14) Although the spell benefits the group, the demon shrugs off its effects.

Azhar charges the held demon, his jovar cutting into the 'helpless' demon.

Only one of Mathalen's attacks, a glancing blow, seems to affect the demon at all.

Held Glabrezu Will Save DC 27: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 Although the demon struggles against the magic paralyzing it, it is unable to break free from Zsz's hold.

DC 31: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37 The nearest demon ignores those attacking it in melee, instead turning its gaze on the spellcaster. It utters a single word in abyssal, and Zsz is stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.

Glabrezu in the Belfry - Round 2

Gravlax takes another step, working his way around the demon as if cutting the rind off a thick fruit. Tearing off the demon's defenses piece by piece as he does seems to wear on the figher, but he soliders on.

The carpet edges down just a bit, Amaya looking at the manacles that hold one of the prisoners who haven't teleported out of their bonds. 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39 And with a little twist of magic, she manages to open the manacles.

Tarvi moves back just a step more, out of the demon's reach. She looks up at Zsz - stunned in mid-air but can't do anything about that at the moment. "Cass, which one?" And with the subtle answer from her brother she magic missiles the closest demon. (1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 265d4 + 5 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 2, 3) + 5 = 18) Her dark missiles slam into the demon and her little dagger moves around to stab at the beast - flanking it for her brother.

Cassian spins his blades in annoyance at the piddling wounds he inflicted before diving back in. This time the distraction of finishing off the spellcaster as well as the additional melee attacks, allowing the opening for the rogue to filet the demon.

Fiosa, assisted by Amaya, who slides off the carpet pulls, the injured and semi-comatose woman onto the rug.

Azhar takes the opportunity to coupe de grace the helpless glabrezu, his heavy sword slashing through the armor, bone and sinew of the massive creatures thigh. It slowly topples in the direction from whence it's support is suddenly lost. Crashing to moon in a still no less satisfactory thump. He glares at the demon on the far side of the room as if daring it to come and engage in close combat.

GM:
DC 23: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18 no extra dodge bonus
Mathalen shoots the two men a grin, "Lets see if I can draw the last one closer?" With that she bolts across the room, running over the body that Azhar brought down. [bigger]"Hey, ugly, I swallowed a scroll about the Dark Tapestry. If you can rip me apart, you might get it out before it turns to mush."

Zsz is stunned. One round of stun remains.

[The demon really doesn't look like he believes her... but you never know. It moves forward and swings at the woman - hard. 1d20 + 20 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 20 - 4 = 304d8 + 10 + 8 ⇒ (6, 7, 1, 3) + 10 + 8 = 35 At the very last moment, Mathalen drops to her stomach, avoiding the blow, then flips back up to her feet.

Active Buffs: Prayer (+1 luck on attack, weapon damage rolls, saves and skills); Bardic Courage (+3 competance bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls; +3 morale bonus on saves vs fear); Haste (+1 attack, AC, and Reflex saves; +30 movement; extra attack on full attack action)

Azhar attempts to dip in under the demons defenses hopefully: acrobatics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22, and would prove not quite agile enough were the thing able to lash out at him again. Taking advantage of his good fortune, he gets up close and personal, landing a devastating strike that slices through the creatures eyes. "Well, if killing your form here will get you there, I'll gladly send you on your way." a short pause, "You know, I heard of someone who mentioned something about the Dark Tapestry before. Now where was I?" he doesn't appear to be letting too much of his attention wander. His opponent is a huge four-armed demon, after all.

Glabrezu in the Belfry - Round 3

Gravlax moves over to the remaining demon (who snaps a pincer in the nimble warrior's path 1d20 + 20 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 20 - 4 = 27 which misses), and attacks. "How does it compare to the darkness in our hearts? I've never been much for philosophy." Unlike the demon's attack, Gravlax's attacks are all solid hits, clearly proving his fatigue has passed.

Seeing the first prisoner is safe, Amaya moves over to another one. 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38 And her magic keeps going strong, releasing a second prisoner (this was also does not turn into a demon).

Tarvi moves up, using the fallen demon as cover against its last brethren. Then she directs more of her shadowy missiles in its direction. (1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 285d4 + 5 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 3, 2) + 5 = 16) The little missiles slam through the demon's defenses, then Tarvi's shadow dagger zips to the far side of the demon, flanking it.

Cassian rushes the demon and sticks it once. His sword blow causing Cassian's arm to almost sink up to the wrist.

Fiosa directs the carpet up, taking the prisoner up to the temple of Nocticula - just in case more combatants enter the three cylinder prison space.

Azhar attempts to dip in under the demons defenses and would prove not quite agile enough were the thing able to lash out at him again. Taking advantage of his good fortune, he gets up close and personal, landing a devastating strike that slices through the creatures eyes. Not nearly enough to actually slay the monster, but more than enough to get his attention.

Mathalen dodges heedlessly up to the beast. Her blow, although solid, is not enough to down the monster.

Zsz is stunned. But will not be as of the end of her turn.

The demon attempts to throw a warding wall right in front of it. (DC 29: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30) All four of the people threatening the glabrezu (and Vintari's dead body) go flying upward as gravity reverses itself around them - slamming them into the ceiling 70-ft above.

People who are next to something they can grab get a Reflex save DC 22

Glabrezu in the Belfry - Round 4

Gravlax flips off the wall, lands about five feet away from where he had been hanging, and resumes his attack on the demon. The blind demon doesn't stand a chance, and Gravlax's blade fells him.

Amaya whistles loudly to get Fiosa's attention then starts to motion like a madwoman towards where she saw Azhar zip up to the ceiling.

Cassian sighs and dashes over to the wall where he has something to hang onto.

Tarvi flies up to her brother, "I was going to come save you... but you've done that yourself." The little dagger floats up to spin next to her.

Fiosa directs the carpet down and then up, arriving just outside the zone of reversed gravity.

Azhar moves to the wall (Sudden Shift), his sword disappearing from his hands as he draws and strings the demon bane weapon in a fluid motion and winds a length of chain from the manacles around his right leg. He draws and sights along the shaft, conjuring Janiven's posture in form (well, sort of) and function, then lets fly. The arrow flies true...and straight through the creature and the floor below. Azhar swears unintelligibly under his breath, then grins with a wry smile.

Mathalen uses the dead demon to pull herself out of the spell area of effect.

Azhar is down 15 hit points. Cassian is down 28 hit points. Gravlax is down 7 hit points. Amaya is down 14 hit points. Fiosa is down 4 hit points.

Once Fiosa is on the ground she would motion for everyone to come within 30-ft so that she can channel. 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 3) = 7 Bright red with shame as that didn't work so well, "I can do that again."

Azhar:
You do not have to count that sudden shift against your uses per day.

And then when she feels the pressure of people looking at her, "oh"

And Fiosa channels again. 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 1) = 12

... which is only marginal better.

Male Human Rogue 15/Shadowcaster 1

"It'll do, Fi," Cassian says, clapping the halfling on the shoulder.

Cassian attempts to use his wand...

1d20 ⇒ 6

...successfully. 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 7) + 3 = 15

And when he heals himself, he casts the now spent wand next to the demon corpse.
