Quinn's bow begins to vibrate at the presence of the undead Ludo. The monk feels the bow's hatred towards the creature.
Quinn sees Ludo's attack on Lady La Sireene which angers the monk. He takes a 5 foot step to the right and responds in kind.

The first two arrows splotch! into the mohrg's exposed intestines. The third arrow, with a krunch!, embeds in its empty right eye socket. The fourth arrow hits one of the ribs and clatters away.
Ludo (mohrg) takes 66 damage.
As for the apes, they're pretty straightforward. Big sword, big fists, big wings... You don't want them landing on you. Look out beloowww!

Phoebe Strange |

Phoebe leans around Ianez and watches the fight. "Here, this might help." She taps Ianez lightly on the arm and casts guidance.
It is Derhii #2's turn.

Sandru |

Not one for loose end-trails, I bear down on what used to Ludo with sword and shield. Cutting the fiend down, I roar in defiance... Challenging the beast's above!

Another gorilla raises its sword, hammers its fist on its broad chest, and bellows. It flaps its wings and descends to the floor, next to the members of your party at the front of the room (to H-6/H-7/I-6/I-7). The large primate scoops up the druid in its free arm. Her blonde hair goes flying as the beast flings her over its shoulder!
Derhii #1 and La Siréene both gain the grappled condition.
It is Caromarc's turn.

This is a troop of flying gorillas (1 male, 2 females)...because in this future these exist...which have created a roost, perhaps some sort of sanctuary, in an abandoned hall of a castle. You look around. In addition to swords, the apes carry javelins too, and probably deliver a mean attack from the air.

Looks like it's pretty much academic.
At the sight of the bracer zapping Quinn, Gaston grits his teeth and slaps his right hand against his forehead.

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Quin qrits his teeth as he feels the sting of the new bracer on his forearm. The monk digs deep inside, using his many years of training, to push the shadowy pain aside. Then, the monk looks over to Gaston and says, "Don't worry about me. I will endure. Pay attention to the battle at hand."

That was satisfying. Too bad about the lost- the spell is left. I can feel it. It didn't dissipate and ebb away, unfinished, it’s still in me, bidding its time, wanting to be cast. Interesting...

The first gorilla sees the pinwheel of light from La Siréene's touch. The half-elf fells it with some well-timed arrows. The monster rocks back and forth, and with a groan slumps to the ground.
Quinn wheels like a turret, and fires two more arrows at the gorilla nearby still in the air. The beast is too large and clumsy to evade. With three of Ianez's arrows and two of Quinn's sticking out of its bulk, its eyes roll back in the head, and it crashes to the ground, causing the floor to shudder!
Derhii #1 and Derhii #3 are dead.

The winged gorilla raises its arm to grab Sandru's cutlass...a fatal mistake. This leaves its tender underbelly exposed. The fighter cleaves into the muscular gut! His second attack is almost merciful. The primate twists to the side. Its eyes go blank as it drops to the floor.
Crit unconfirmed. Derhii #2 takes 51 damage, and is dead.
Sandru takes 9 damage (vicious).

1 pinch of Void Dust
1 Word bottle
The derhii:

2,700 gold and jewels

I move from the dead heap of flesh to check on Phoebe, picking her up. I pass what life energy I can, knowing my ability is feeble. Perhaps warmth or a bit of comfort, if not healing.
Copper, next time you take it like a man... Some can't afford the burden. A deal was struck, live by it... Law-man.

Baron Volst |

"You don't know what you speak about" says Volst's mouth. "I built that feature into the bracers. Quinn can't help it, he adheres to the deal in that he's our default option. However, any wearer's body automatically resists the life drain each time it occurs (although this becomes harder to do each successive time).* If successfully so, I added a failsafe. It finds a random target.
"Genius, really, if I do say so myself." The mouth smiles.

Now that the battle has ended, you all notice a stately-carved, stone, spiral staircase at one side of the room. Tabards, thick with dust, but once the deep red color of wine, hang decoratively from the side of the stairs. They don't bear a crest or any identifying symbols. The stairs lead up to a whimsically carved door, high up on the wall, near the ceiling.

Kwanjan Quinn |

"Looks like I made a deal with a devil itself."
Quinn moves over to Pheobe and kneels before her. "I had no idea that this dark magic would consume someone else. Sandru is right. This is my curse to bare and from here on forward, no one else will feel the burden."
To the others, "Does anyone know what these items do?"

Gaston Blackacre |

Blackacre grumbles, Genius? Hardly, and raises his right hand to his forehead again, but stops short of smacking it. Just focus on your duty, Volst. He edges toward the staircase.

Ianez Gastnicht |

"Quinn or Sandru, can either of you see if there are any other ways into this room? I am thinking that perhaps the gorillas' ropeways may allow us to reach the upper levels of this place. Besides, there is the last hand still to find."
How close to the ground are the ropes?
