Yvra Sunscale |

Yvra continues to pull and fire arrows in rapid succession, and finds he's hitting his stride: striking twice in a row, with the second arrow going straight through the goatling's eye.

Preposting Round 5, since I'm healing Nathan whether he stabilizes or not, and Rechau's action won't affect this
Greebins repeats his healing magic on the dying ogre.

Round 4
Rechau feels much less pressure as he sees Greebins heal Lotham. With that worry gone he concentrates on taking down the last few attackers.

With another pair of arrows from the flying Yvra, killing one of their brethren, the goatlings realize they cannot penetrate Rechau's defenses who also is able to parry and riposte and hit with impunity. They are also unable to probably do much against a flying foe, even with javelins, before they are brought down so the remaining two toss their weapons aside and surrender. This includes the small animal battle goat.
Combat over.

Greebins Higgo |

With the battle ending, Greebins is able to speak in common again. He absentmindedly addresses Yrva and Lotham, "Keep an eye on them...", and continues to tend to Nathan.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 That's all I got. Looks like just enough to get the other healer standing.
He then sees to the dying goatlings, casting stabilize on any survivors.

Yvra Sunscale |

As the goatlings draop thier weapons, Yvra lowers his bow but keeps ready to raise it again if things heat back up.
"If you are surrendering, we accept. We won't harm you. Can you understand me?"
If they don't appear to understand, he'll repeat himself in draconic, celestial, and sylvan.

Rechau Soth |

Any recognizable language by any of us?
Rechau steps back as the remaining goatlings throw down their weapons. He then tries to speak in his languages as well (Goblin and Orc).

Greebins Higgo |

"I do not believe we share a language. Perhaps Nathan, when he gets a chance to pray for his spells, could prepare something to help?"

Yvra Sunscale |

Good idea! It's convenient that he hasn't had time to prepare spells yet today. ;-)

Nathan Bonfire |

Nathan comes to, looks around and says "Don't bring a bow to a knife fight. Oh my ankles." He then stands and looks at all the bodies laying around. "Is anyone going to die in the next minute? I suggest that you disarm all of them and tie em up if you can. I can channel to heal everyone but don't want them all up and attacking again."
While waiting he casts mending to fix his clothes and prestidigitation to clean them up.
He then channels to heal everyone.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Nathan then tries speaking to the goatlings in all the languages he knows asking, "Why did you attack us? (Abyssal, Celestial, Comon, Draconic, Giant, Infernal). When that doesn't work he motions for any that speak to him to wait and then holds his bow and cast's Comprehend Languages and listens to what they have to say.

CaveToad |

Nathan, the goatlings are unable to understand what you say. They attempt to respond. "Baa-saa, No Aara taa"
You cast the comprehend languages spell and encourage the goatling to speak. He bleats out something and the magic of your spell rearranges the sounds in your mind. "Sky spirits you have defeated us and we have failed your Test of Battle. We are unworthy to partake in The Ceremony of the Lake. Will you be punishing us further?"

Nathan Bonfire |

Nathan looks at the others, "Apparently they think we are sky spirits and they have failed our test of Battle and want to know if we will be punishing them further. They are also not worthy to partake in the Ceremony of the Lake. I wish I had a way to speak to them so they could understand me."
He then looks at the goatlings and shakes his head in a no gesture.

Grobly |

A blotch of dark will cover out a small patch of stars as Bazzt the bat comes down and circles the camp in a tight circle. "Grobly is here! He will save yo-" The goblins call of victory is caught short as he sees that the enemy had already been dealt with here.
Bazzt will circle around once more before landing on the beach. Grobly will hop off of his companion and survey his kin. [b]"You lived! good! So did we. It seems the others were attacked as well..." Grobly will rub the large gash running long his shoulder and neck. "Them big 'uns hit hard. But we bite harder! Do yous needs any help? We have captives too!"

Nathan Bonfire |

"Apparently they think we are sky spirits and that they failed our test of battle and we are going to have some ceremony of the lake. I've been able to understand them thanks to some of my magic but I can't talk to them. Any luck speaking to them?"

Rechau Soth |

"We are just now getting to communicate with them. It seems they think we were some sort of test." Rechau responds to Grobly.
"Thank you for checking on us, it was a close run thing, but we prevailed. How are the other groups? Have you heard from them yet?"

Grobly |

Grobly will shake his head at the hobs questions. "Yous all are the closest, and we finished first so I came to help." The goblin will point skyward. "I saw the other camps. They were attacked too. Too far to try to help. A test? That is news."

Greebins Higgo |

"Hmmm... I think it less likely that their kin would attack if they see us conversing with their fellows. We need to figure out a way for them to understand us. Likely they will have helpful knowledge. A pity some of them had to die."

Nathan Bonfire |

Nathan looks at the goatling and responds, "We have come from another plane, though I doubt you can understand me, as I can understand you. It was magic that brought us here." He then uses Prestidigitation to answer the goatling to create some obviously magical effects, flashes of light.

Greebins Higgo |

I think the sensible thing at this point would be to give Nathan time to pray for his cleric spells, so he can gain another Comprehend Languages and cast it on one of the goats. Unless someone put ranks in Perform (Charades)

Nathan Bonfire |

Nathan looks at the goatling and shrugs after it asks him why we are here.
He then draws a picture in the sand of the lake, river, mountains and the hill where they showed up. Points to his friends and points to the hill. He then points at the goatlings and points at the "map" he made with the information from Yvra.
Except Comprehend Languages is a personal spell. I can't cast it on anyone else. But I will need more uses of it. If I am able to pray and memorize my spells for the day I'll add 1 comp lang in cleric and wizard slots.

Rechau Soth |

"It seems as good a place to begin as any and it seems we might be able to peacefully get information now that we know a little of the problem." Rechau says a little hopefully.

Nathan Bonfire |

"I agree. It would be a good idea to head to the camp. Let me prepare my spells for the day and we can head out."
Do we want to take a few hours to rest and reflect (level) and then head out or just head out?
CaveToad: Recruitment seemed to say we get a feat every level and the item provided a feat on even levels. Is this correct, 2 feats one of which is a combat feat? Does the combat feat only work when wielding the weapon?

That is correct, you get a feat for 2nd level, and also a feat from your item. If it is a weapon or combat staff you need to have it on your person for the feat to function. In the case of throwing weapons, which I think no one has, maybe 1 out of all the groups, you retain the feats for a few rounds until you can recover the item, unless something else picks it up, or it is destroyed or broken somehow. You for instance you can be disarmed and retain the feat as long as you pick up the weapon within a few rounds, or no one else grabs it.

CaveToad |

Quite some time after the group is resting and discussing the fight and your plans, a small group of people from Tolheimia's group passes through asking if everyone is ok. They don't stay long but relate that their group had an exceptionally large battle, but suffered no fatalities. They also are working to communicate with some of the goatling captives. They move on after learning the group has things well in control and are happy to convey any communications to the other groups if you are willing. They have reported that the other groups are all also ok, although some of the fights were serious. They will move back to the other groups and relay any messages you have. Their group was composed of (in addition to Jovar the Homunculous):
Ania, also a Goodwin golem, often considered Tolheimia's 'little sister' although such familial relations make little sense for the created race.
Borthas a Boggard sorcerer and ranger
Klimdon a skinwalker, Werebear, a powerful melee combatant
Shiepas a Mite, quiet and reclusive, but skilled sneak rogue

Rechau Soth |

We definitely relay what we have learned, specifically about this being some sort of test for them and the idea that we were "sky gods".
I agree lets finish our rest and leveling, then move on.
