It's Good to Be the King

What has come before:
4708 AR
It's been nearly ten years since the disappearance of King Urzen Rogarvia and the rise of King-Regent Noleski Surtova; the one many have named Usurper. Many fear that on the tenth anniversary of the Vanishing that King-Regent Surtova, at the urging of his sister Natal, will throw off the Regent and name himself full King of Brevoy. Although his time as regent has been peaceful and the kingdom has prospered, there are many, mainly in the old provinces of Rostland, that no longer want to bend the knee to another king of Brevoy but seek a free Rostland once more. There is talk of war. The peace of the kingdom stands balanced on the edge of a blade.

On the 24th day of Calistril a small, misfit band of adventurers responded to a summons and accepted a charter from the Swordlords of the Free City of Restov to chart and explore an area south known as the Stolen Lands. There are many who question the motives of the Swordlords and feel that the charter is an effort to secure their southern borders in preparation for war. But for now the King-Regent has given his approval.

Upon arriving in the Stolen Lands, the young group quickly learned that any hope of success would be hard fought. An abandoned fort turned into a trading post on the edge of the Stolen Lands was soon to be attacked by bandits seeking to rule the Stolen Lands. The charter members defended the trading post and defeated the bandits, taking three prisoners. From the prisoners they learned of their camp to the south and their leader Kressle. They then set out to attack the camp and defeat Kressle. She was eventually killed and the group returned to Oleg's Trading Post.

Two of the original charter members have left the group while others have joined them in their mission. After resting and discussing their options, the group decided to split into three teams of two in order to speed up their exploration. This turned out to be an ill-fated decision.

One of the pairs was nearly killed by two wild boars and another saw one member killed the second near death by an attacking worg. The groups have returned to Oleg's, mourning the loss of one of the original charter carriers and facing decisions to be made on their next course of action.

Daily Record of Events:

Sunday - 30th Pharast, 4708 AR Heroes arrive at Oleg's Trading Post.
Moonday - 31st Pharast, 4708 AR (New Moon) - Heroes defend Oleg's Trading Post from Happs Bydon and bandits. Lady Charlotte and Elizabeth arrive to join the group. The companions convince Bren to repent of his banditry and turn on his fellow bandits. Yarro and Charlotte head south to the Narlmarch Woods to search for Kressle's camp where they meet Ursion Kolter. The bandits try to escape in the night where Kai defeats them and they are captured once more.
Toilday - 1st Gozran, 4708 AR - Yarro, Charlotte, and Ursion travel deeper into the Narlmarch where they capture 5 bandits from the Thorn River camp. Yarro interrogates one of them. Ursion electrocutes one of the men. Eventually they kill them all and burn the bodies. Back at Oleg's one of the bandits dies while captive and the other challenges Darian to a duel. Darian easily kills the bandit.
Wealday - 2nd Gozran, 4708 AR - Yarro, Charlotte, and Ursion return to Oelg's. The group makes plans to leave and assault Kressle's camp. Begins to snow. While the horses are getting needed rest the group joins Oleg in working on expanding his guesthouse. It begins to snow.
Oathday - 3rd Gozran, 4708 AR - Everyone works on and completes the guesthouse. Snows up to six inches. The group decides to leave the next day.
Fireday - 4th Gozran, 4708 AR - Whole party, including Ursion, heads south to attack Kressle's camp. The party is slowed by the snow and camps on the plains.
Starday - 5th Gozran, 4708 AR - Group makes it to the Narlmarch Wood around mid-morning and heads south along the game trail. Afternoon they spot a lookout in the woods and confront him. They chase the watcher through the woods to prevent him from alerting the camp. During the chase he throws a thunderstone and defeans Bren. Yarro eventually catches the bandit and stabs him with his sword. The bandit falls from his horse dead. Kressle and six of her bandits ride out from their camp and attack the group. The heroes defeat the bandits and kill Kressle and four of the bandits. Yarro almost dies but is restored through potions. Group camps there for the night. Back at Oleg's, Kesten Garess arrives from Restov with three others to help out protecting Oleg's.
Sunday - 6th Gozran, 4708 AR - Jhod Kavken arrives at Oleg's Trading Post. Charlotte convinces two of the captured bandits, Volkan and Mikel, to join them and turn away from their ways of banditry. The group rides to Kressle's camp where they find everyone gone but an elf woman (Ayami). The group buries Kressle and the other bandits in camp, leaving a marking warning others about the penalty of banditry. They spend the night in the camp.
Moonday - 7th Gozran, 4708 AR - The group travels back to Oleg's but camps again outside the Narlmarch. Amber arrives at Oleg's. Kesten leads his company out on patrol for 3 days.
Toilday - 8th Gozran, 4708 AR - Late in the day the group arrives back st Oleg's. The group celebrates their victory over Kressle and her bandits.
Wealday - 9th Gozran, 4708 AR - The group discusses plans for exploring the Greenbelt. They decide to split into three groups and head in different directions. Ursion leaves a note for Charlotte informing her that he is leaving and heading to Pitax to follow the lates clue about his familie's missing necklace. The groups make preparations to leave the next day.

House Rules:
Hero Points - despite my dislike of them, they are in play. However, they only accrue at the rate of 1 every 2 levels and the most a single player can have at one time is 3. Also, all feats, spells, and magic items related to hero points will not be used.
