Would you buy a paizo.com T-Shirt?

So, we're wondering if folks out there would have interest in purchasing paizo.com-branded merchandise.

Specifically, the first thing we're thinking about is a T-shirt much like one of the staff shirts we made for this past convention season, which you can see here.

The only difference is that, instead of saying "Event Staff," it would say something like "Game Crew" or... well, actually, that's another question: what would you want it to say? (We're looking for 10–12 letters.)

Anybody have any interest?

"Thread Jacker"

Sure, I'd buy one.

"Honorary Paizon"

Maybe still.

"Game Crew"

Probably not.

Show me some more offerings and it wouldn't take much to part this fool and his money.

Definitely would buy one! :)

The "Lords of the Boards" thread is full of interesting ideas. Some of my ideas:

Lord of the Boards
Thread Necromancer
Willing Minion
I survived the Render

I'd buy one or two....

Good titles:

"Commoner"

"Peasant"

"Renderpoop"

"Board Bum"

I like Paizo stuff- I'd buy a shirt.

A suggestion: The little Paizo guy on it somewhere. As for Game crew- no dice.

Maybe something like:

"Neutral Evil" or "Kill it!" or "Dungeon Victim" or "Gamers do it for hours."

Some of these have too many letters. But I look forward to what you come up with.

"Lords of the Boards"!!!

Especially if there was a Paizo logo/Dragon/Dungeon logo prominent.

Ditto with art. Love art.

I would buy a Lord of the Boards shirt in a heartbeat! Would be a cool conversation starter.

Outstanding idea, Lilith. And a shout out to Saern for using the term in a post and to Sebastian for giving it prominence.

I too would buy a Lord of the Board T-shirt. Such a title would connect me to some small sense of power in relation to my experience with Paizo. As opposed to a game crew shirt, which, although project-logical, bears little jazz and no power chords.

And as Fakey said, it would start conversations... better yet, conversations I'd actually like to engage.

Liberty's Edge

I think those little cartoon-style Kyle Hunter avatar monsters would look good on a t-shirt. Maybe even a page of Downer art on the front?

Scarab Sages

Would definitely purchase more than one.

Thoth-Amon

I'd purchase them as well. :)

Some suggestions:
"Render Victim"
"Mona! Mona!"
"Wormbait"
"I saved Cauldron and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" (I know, too long, but funny!)
"Damn swarms."
"Aushanna ate my PC."
"Dinosaur pirate ninjas!"

Dark Archive

Sold!! To the lurker with the black feathers....

I don't know about "Game Crew", though I like the idea of creating a family-like title that brings us Paizoians (Paizons???) together in our product-sporting t-shirt wear.

I will also say that I don't like the "Lord of the Boards" idea some are rallying behind in that it seems to only support Paizo as a messageboard system (or worse yet, to the uninitiated, a skate/surf/snow board company), not a producer of quality RPG stuff.

What about the actual Paizo logo being incorporated? On the sleeve or on the back near the collar?

*sigh* It looks like I haven't actually added any suggestions? Sorry. At any rate, if it looks cool and shows that I'm a gamer & supporter of Paizo I'm sold!

I personally don't want to just sport a brand name. I don't want the back of the shirt to list their product line. On one level it's good advertising just to have Paizo on a shirt that anyone anywhere is wearing, even if it's mixed in message and not a straight shot corporate promo. I think a straight brand name shirt might work for some, but I'll wear the paizo logo with pride and back up their cool prominence if some part of their shirt backs up mine. I've got a bit of an ego, you see. Doctor sez it's terminal.

I would probably buy one, depends. If I could get my Efretti logo on it like on the left pectorial where some shirts have logos and my Valegrim name maybe as support staff; then, I would definately buy one; heck; prolly buy 3 if I could get good colors. No T shirts though; would want a polo type shirt with a collar and short sleeves of good material.

I like the polo shirt idea with the Paizo logo. That way, I can show my gaming love at work!

The current mantra in our Savage Tide PbP is 'Blame James Jacobs." A similar mantra in our AoW game is "Damn you, Mona!"

(In a good way, of course!)

How about "Gamer Geek" or a similar saying? I agree that the "Lord of the Boards" idea is somewhat misleading to the uninitiated. Here's my best suggestion: Paizo is Greek, right? So you get a Paizo logo cenetered, and below that "I Play!" Whaddaya tink?

I also wouldn't mind seeing shirts with each of the nine alignment designations, either.

I'm not sure Paizo will create the shirt for me. I think you're looking for something vanilla and I can't buy vanilla. Clearly vanilla is the favorite flavor though, so perhaps going by my pistachiofrappacinnamango tastes would be a first run suicide.

I don't work for Paizo and I'm not a human billboard, so the logo itself has absolutely no chance of knowing the interior of my closet. But the question was what T-shirt would we buy, and if it doesn't feel personal to me, and respect my allegiance to these here messageboards, I won't buy it. The company and its products are phenomenal, but so are potato chips and I don't have a potato chip shirt. My allegiance is more to this forum than to any product. I'll buy the shirt that takes this into account.

Like it or not, I'd buy Lord of the Boards right now. Those poor non-gaming uninitiated might not understand at first glance, and they might have to ask, but trust me to have the charisma to drive the finer points of Paizo home. I'm a bit of a windbag, you see.

That said, I'd certainly consider more than that one T-shirt idea. I just happened to like it far more than my own offerings.

My wife gets aggrivated with me because I don't like company names written on my shirts. I feel bad, though, because all my Ocean Pacific t-shirts from my teen years could now stand for original poster, but they are all tatters by now.
I do like my Napoleon Dynamite t-shirts though.

Must admit I have a Vote For Pedro shirt myself.

How bout 'Adventuring Co.' in place of 'Event Staff'? A few too many letters, but hey.

hmm; not for me either; too many peeps wouldnt know what it means; I wouldnt want anyone to mistake me for a Playa so to speak a moraly challenged individual as I am married and want to stay that way. Not enought caption or gaming referance imho. If it had a d20 and an I play it would be better but not interesting enough to purchase.

Do an alumni-style shirt.

Oh, the pain! The agony! The shame! The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune! ;-)

"Lord of the Boards" is a hit with me, probably because it panders to my bardic ego. If you personalize it with my avatar (or a Kyle Hunter image of my choice), and my online handle, I'll pay 30 bucks or so for it.

Otherwise, here are some suggestions:

"Vote Ebon Triad '06" (Yeah, I know--too political)

"Wormfood!" (With the uberworm from the cover of Dungeon 124 prominently displayed)

"Thrall of the Lillithid" ;)

"I killed Kyuss and all I got was this stupid T-shirt"

"Paizo: Bringing the Savage Tide to a City Near You"

Actually, I like this last one a lot--it reminds those in the know about the quality gaming materials Paizo produces, and perhaps serves as a conversation starter for others.

Of course those who dislike advertising a brand might not like it, but if you really support the product, and I suspect most of us here do, is it so bad to help out with a little free advertising? After all, Paizo replaces our missed issues for free and sends out gamer care packages to hurricane victims. We're advertising for a small, nice corporation and not a big nasty one that exploits overseas laborers. It should bother you less to wear a Paizo T than wearing a pair of Nikes.

Let me clarify a little more as to what we're looking for in a T-Shirt slogan.

Paizo does a lot of things. We make games, we publish magazines, we have messageboards, we sell games other people make... and we want to produce a shirt that has a chance of appealing to anyone who may like us for any one of those things, even if they couldn't care less about any other.

So, we're looking for something that ties in to gaming in a more generic way (and note that using any of Wizards' trademarks is right out!).

I realize that there are some of you who want something more specific to a particular aspect of our business, and maybe if we do well with something generic, we can look at following up with more specific things later.

Sound reasonable?

Sure, also sounds Vanilla and Boring, not something I want across my chest. I want flavor, character, attitude. A Paizo logo and a flavorless/generic slogan isn't gonna draw my $$$$.

You wanted opinions, you got 'em. What you do with them is up to you. Geek Label has a bunch of good shirts that I was thinking of picking up, but I held off due to this thread. Once again, I have money. If you want it then give me what I want.

Well, I think we're picking up some of the Geek Label shirts....

But back to my initial point—I don't think generically appealing has to mean boring. (I just... don't have an answer yet.)

I think "Game Crew" and "I Play" both sound great.

How about "Gamer" ?

Lilith wrote:

Paizo logo for name recognition

Like polo shirt idea

How about 'Guild Member'

I like 'Mona! Mona!' too.

The only other catch phrase I can think of at the moment is a direct rip-off of Interplay's: "By Gamers, For Gamers."

Or "The Golem's Got Game!" but I think I've seen that somewhere before in Paizo adverts in Dragon/Dungeon.

"Role for Initiative"? (spelling intended) - I suppose that might sound like you're trying to make a political statement, though...

Scarab Sages

I would buy one. I like the style of the one you 'event staff' one you linked and think that 'Gamer' across the bottom would be good for hitting the broad cross-section (although my heart really is completely won by 'Lord of the Board').

As for getting the Paizo logo on it, how about a small render of it on the back between the shoulder-blades. We've done that with some of our Earth Day t-shirts... the main logo we're using for that year on the front, small logo of either recycle arrows or 100% natural ingredients list (like a nutrient content box on a food product) on the back.

I know I'm not exactly the target audience, but I'd love to see a long-sleeve version. Especially one that says Paizo running down the left art.

Maybe with the golem at the bottom. :)

Dark Archive

I'd lie, steal & kill (well, sorta) for a T-shirt with a scribbled "I played through all the SCAP and survived...

... 'cause I'm the DM". In a pinch, "Aushanna ate my PC" o "Dugobras for TPK!", will work fine.

Seriously, a simple Paizo logo and motto shall work fine.

Oh, and the "Mona! Mona!" one will have a strange impact on the people of northern Italy... *snicker*

If you got a shirt with long enough sleeves, then the golem would be like a power symbol! "Paizo power ACTIVATE! Channel Jacobs, Mona, Pett, Logue, Vaughn and Wolfgang and make my players WEEP with my DM powers! Mwah-hah-hah!"

Too bad you can't get away with "We got your Wizards right hear!"

Using of the Coast font/colors. Hmmm, maybe I should pitch that on a different messageboard... I should probably toss them "OMG, OGL!"

There is always taking one of everything you sell and laying it in a big pile on top of one of your staff so that only their hands and feet can be seen and then putting a little golem log somewhere nearby. Perhaps with the word "stuff" underneath. Or "Board games, card games, role-playing games, books, minis? Yeah, we got you covered"

Or how about "Paizo - We got game!" or simply "Golem's got Game!"

"XXL amount of cool in a L-sized T-shirt." "T-shirt" can be swaped out with "container" or a word to that effect, to symbolize the size of Paizo "cool" against the size of the company itself. Too deep, huh?

Then there is my favorite: Kyle Hunter's sea devil head shot with the words "Gaming God" next to it. ;) Or for those wrestling fans out there you could preface it with "I am a..."

Also the wrong place for it but.... How about Kyle Hunter T-shirts? His monster project work would work very well with the format and depending on how the OGL works he could even print the creature's Monster Manual on the shirt next to the image. How cool is that, Baby?!?!

Anymore ideas from me will require us to negotiate a consultation fee, Mr. Wertz.

My card.

A generic Paizo t-shirt does sound boring. People would also mistake it for some sort of Italian fraternity (as I did when I first heard the company name).

I'd buy Kyle Hunter artwork t-shirts at the drop of a hat, or shirt, in a heartbeat.
