Holding Snowflake at arm's length, Ameiko speaks to him gently while kneeling next to him. "Snowflake, its all right. Calm down so I can understand what you're saying."
Tears still in her eyes, Ameiko turns towards Rataji when she hears her speak the same language as Snowflake. "Sorry, I overheard you... do you understand Snowflake? What is he saying? Is he allright?"
The dying flames in Rataji's hair dont seem to bother her in the least.

Rataji the Resourceful |

Rataji swallows, trying to calm down herself. "He says that he thought everyone would blame him, and so he ran. Um, may I ask who you are and how you know my brother?"

GM Woran |

Happiness and sadness war on Ameiko's face. "Brother? Snowflake, did you find your birth family out there?!"
Carefully standing up, and keeping an eye on snowflake, Ameiko extends a hand to Rataji. "I'm Ameiko. These days I run the rusty dragon inn. A couple of years ago, I left Sandpoint to go on an adventure. I was not here when the church burned down, but when I came back, I heard Snowflake and his father and sister had died in the fire. I thought I had lost a friend."

Rataji the Resourceful |

Rataji swallows, the embers in her hair slowly dying with the last of her jealousy and hurt. "I'm not his birth sister. My Dad and I, we found Snowflake all on his own, lost and scared. We adopted him. I'm... a bit like him. Part angel. He's been my brother for the last five years." Rataji takes Ameiko's hand, finally getting control of her sudden possessiveness. "I'm Rataji. Taj to my friends, and since your my brother's friend, you're mine too."

Eldira the Logical |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Looking at this display of familiarity seems to confuse Eldira on some level, not really due to the furry, smoking and tien participants those things are just facts. She was confused by the rush of confliction emotions displayed by the group.
Of course, that touching display really has no place in a food line. Other involuntary servers might enjoy the break, or consider the other waiting eaters... such consideration, were rather far from her mind though. Someone had disrupted her assembly line, just when it was running at peak efficiency.
Shoving a bowl of curry in her customer's face, she said:
"Please relocate your touching display of familial introductions by 180 degrees around the food cart. The efficiency of this food distribution line is already in a steady decline. Further delay will inevitably reduce in the unintentional biodegradation of the food items present, which will in turn lessen the impact of this event, which in turn risks the continued profitable existence of the rusty dragons, which in turn would force me to seek a new venue, which if unsuccessful might result in me starving to death.... within several weeks.
Thank you for your cooperation, your compliance is appreciated. "
At this point, while everyone involved in the touching reunion.. and random bystanders, take the time to retune their brains.. Eldira is considering more efficient ways to deliver the curry... a process that will inevitably result in "projectile deliver" which is functionally indistinguishable from carpet bombing with curry.
"I Eldira... I am not in any relationship with anyone present, biological or otherwiese.... just to reassure you..... ... why are you looking at me like that? Is there more than the expected amount of curry on my face ?

Oskar Dragenaev |

Oskar nods appreciatively at Rodrak’s ability to haul in a meal for six. “Nice job. I’ll just go pick up the next round right now…” Oskar takes the opportunity to get a little extra, some of his favorites (in particular the lobster chowder from the Hagfish).
On his way back, laden with ale and chowder, he sees the scene with Vy and Taj in front of the Rusty Dragon’s stall, with Miss K and that odd Eldira woman with a ladle and her usual inscrutable expression. Pots, kettles, and all that crap, Oskar. You’re not exactly normal ‘round these parts.
Oskar tries to get things moving again. Nodding toward Eldira he says, “Hey guys. Let’s get out of the way before she starts giving away flying fish, eh?”
Noting Rataji seeming a bit off, when there’s a moment for a quiet word, Oskar asks, “You all right? By the time I got there, you looked like someone had stepped on yer foot. If it’ll make you feel better, I’ll eat too much on purpose, and you can watch me go down in the pie relay like a ton of bricks.”
Not my best, but I had to post something to get back on the horse. Past few days have really stunk.

GM Woran |

Ameiko is completely caught of guard by Eldira's remark. "Wait what...? Eh...?"
The moment of confusion does alert her to the fact that not only are they blocking one of the lines for food, they are also gathering quite some attention by now.
With some concern on her face, she turns back to Snowflake and Rataji. "Snowflake, I am truly happy to see you and I am overjoyed you found a place for yourself in this world. But we are indeed getting quite some attention. If you want you and your friends are more then welcome to come to the Dragon, so we can talk in some privacy. But lets take it easy for now. I dont think the whole of sandpoint is quite ready for your return."
She turns to Rataji. "I dont mean that in a bad way about your brother. A lot has happened here. Its emotional for a lot of us. Please, enjoy the food and the festival."

Rataji the Resourceful |

She thanks Ameiko and Eldira. “Of course! We’ll get out of the way of your food line right away! Perhaps we can all catch up tonight?”
And maybe I’ll get the full story then.
She’s never managed to stay angry with Vy for long. She takes her brother’s hand. "যখনই তুমি আমাকে বলতে করার জন্য প্রস্তুত হন, আমি শুনতে হবে."
She cannot help but laugh at Oskar’s words. “Thank you. I don’t think that anyone has ever offered to overeat and then vomit publically and lose a race to make me feel better. That was really sweet of you.” She looks up at him, surprised. “I just feel suddenly left out. Superfluous. Do you know what I mean?”

Vy "Snowflake" Baro |

Vy gets off his knees, grabs his bowl of curry and moves away from the serving table.
He says in a clear but controlled voice:
"I never meant to lie to you or keep away the truth from the both of you. But Taj, you know I'm jinxed. তুমি জানো আমি অভিশপ্ত আছি. I was just afraid I would jinx my new familty as well"
He sits down on a bail of hay, tries to pull his hood over his head before realizing his sister took away the cape, and starts eating his curry

Rataji the Resourceful |

“You’re no jinx! Have you noticed any bad luck for Dad? For me?!” She sighs, smoke curling up softly from her dark hair. “Knowing another aasimar growing up... that made all the difference for me. I had someone to be strange with. Someone who understood what I was going through. You’re the best piece of fortune to happen to me.”
Taking his hand, she walks to Justin’s stall. “So, you’re the Thassilonian scholar? Where did you learn?” She looks at the relics with great interest, then smells one of the pretty handmade soaps. “Ooh, you have cinnamon! It smells lovely! How much for one of these?”

"Two copper for the human sized soap" he says, omfing a little as he picks up a full pound block of the stuff that can only be described as a brick. "I picked up a little here and there, putting together parts of a fragmented whole. One of my uncles liked stonework, my mother is an enormous fan of frescoes, my aunt collected old partial manuscripts and housed her collection in an old thassalonian grain silo.

Rataji the Resourceful |

Rataji hefts the heavy pound of soap. "Two coppers for this? A bargain. Can you cut it into three smaller blocks for me? This will make a lovely gift for Dad. That's who started me on ancient tongues... My dad. He loves learning new languages. He tried to teach me music, magic and old languages but the languages were the only bits that stuck for me!"

GM Woran |

With most people fed, and he stragglers getting their bowls filled, the atmosphere in the square is relaxed. Full bellies and warm weather makes everyone content.
The incident at the curry line drew some attention, but soon the conversation around you steers away to more mundane topics of conversation. How the harvest is going, the weather, fish prices and whom is sleeping with whom.
In the background Father Zanthus takes the stage again, with two other men in robes. Not a lot of people are paying attention, but you catch some gossip about the other men being clerics from Magnimar, come to town for the communal blessing of the temple.
With attention low, Father Zanthus tries several times to get the attention of the crowd. Failing to get the attention of the people gathered, you see him shrug and retrieve an item from his pocket. Throwing the object, it strikes the ground with a loud bang.
Now in the clear center of attention, Father Zanthus raises his arm, and is about to speak, when loud shrieks erupt from across the square, followd by shouting and screaming of the sandpoint villagers.
People start moving back, the shrill voices shreeking in glee.
It takes a moment in the confusion to see what is going on. Goblins are attacking!

Rodrak Murdinald |

Rodrak mutters something under his breath, draws his hammer and charges the nearest Goblin (Yellow). It looks like he is trying to keep them bottled up behind a nearby cart so people have the time to either get away or join the fight.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 15

Rataji the Resourceful |

"What the...? Oh no! All those helpless families!" Rataji can't charge because the crates are in the way, but she can double move and provoke an attack of opportunity. She runs up, hair flaming, and rapier at the ready.

“Thank you. I don’t think that anyone has ever offered to overeat and then vomit publically and lose a race to make me feel better. That was really sweet of you.”
Oskar looks puzzled. "Hey, no one said anything about losin'! Sure I'll probably toss -- from what I hear ‘bout this race, it's just about a given -- but that ain't a disqualification."
“I just feel suddenly left out. Superfluous. Do you know what I mean?”
Oskar gives a small nod and a shrug. “Maybe somethin’ similar. I got a sister, a brother, a bunch o’ cousins. Any given moment, someone’s gettin’ lost in the crowd. But the wheel comes around, Rataji. It always does...”
Oskar drain the last of his mead, and holds up a hand. “Hold that thought, I’m gonna go get a refill.” As Oskar stands up to get another drink, he suddenly hears all hell break loose.
“I was lookin’ for a fight, then I wasn’t, then goblins attack. Careful what you wish for, Oskar…!”
Oskar runs up to where Rodrak and Rataji have engaged the goblins, and when he gets there, without a moment’s hesitation he tries to slam the goblin in the head, but his fist sails high over it.
I don't seem to be able to move my piece on the map. Could one of you move me into the "corner" spot between Rod and Taj? Assuming I get there, I'll attack Yellow.
Unarmed attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Unarmed damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Wow, that's a cold roll.

Eldira the Logical |

This situation is critical, no time to waste, this could seriously affect the timetable...
Moving to the left of Oskar, Eldira draws her bow as a separate action.
This is chaotic action is highly offensive, disseminate the goblin group as soon as possible. Preparing for ranged support.

Vy "Snowflake" Baro |

Vy grabs his spear, while cursing under his breath for letting his shield lying about, and runs after his sister

GM Woran |

Rodrak: First into the fray, the dwarf swings with his hammer, missing the goblin before him by a hairs breath. The goblin is wide eyed for a moment, seemingly surprised its still alive, before resuming its insane cackling.
Rataji: Running up to the goblins, they stare in awe at your fiery hair, and begin a chant, that is soon picked up by the other goblins.
"Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!
Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!"
Justin: Keeping a cool head, you begin to cast a spell.
Oskar: Eager for the fight, you're stumped by the goblin before you. They are surprisingly agile, and manage to evade your fists.
EldiraBased on numerous calculations and scenarios you run trough your head at a fast pace, this is the best course of action for this moment.
Goblins PrimarySeeing the flame headed woman approach, an even madder gleam appears in their eyes. With feral screams and chants, they drop their knives and dive in, teeth finding flesh.
Goblin bite yellow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Goblin bite yellow confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 does not confirm
Goblin bite red: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Goblin bite blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Reposte fails on yellow. Total damage Rataji: 7 damage
Goblins Tetiary: Across the square, the other goblins cause havoc. One of them is covered partial in blood, dragging a dog carcass behind it and taking the time to eat part of the carcass.
The others advance on people in the crowd.
Goblin attack purple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 dogslicer damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Goblin attack yellow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 dogslicer damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Townspeople: With two goblin strikes missing their targets by a hairs breath, real panic ensues. People run to and fro, trying to escape and keep their loved ones close.
Normally a few Goblins, while a threat, would not scare a big mass of people like this, but for the festival, most people left their weapons, if they even had any, at home.
With no real way to defend themselves most flee, altough you see several draw knives, or grab or break off pieces of wood to defend themselves.
Snowflake: Seeing your sister in danger instills a cold fear in your heart. Running up, there is not much you can do as of yet.

"hey, You can stab my customers after they pay me
The rat mutters a few words darts over to the fray as fast as he can. The android may want to re calibrate their optic sensors, as the small man in the fancy suit seems to glitch out of existence for a moment, re appearing behind Rataji and putting a delicate clawed hand up to place it on her rump as she seems to turn sideways and disappear

Using her trusty bow and the training she has received from the church or Erastil (deadeye bowman allows her to ignore the cover granted by a single ally) she attacks goblin (yellow), if Oskar has already taken down that goblin, she will attack goblin (blue) instead.
Bow attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 141d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Oskar Dragenaev |

Oskar is so used to fighting larger foes, that the goblins' size works to their benefit here. Oskar grunts angry disapproval as he comes around to Rataji's other side and swings at the goblin there, coming up with nothing but air.
Unarmed attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Unarmed damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Yeowch, two painfully low rolls in a row. :-\

Rodrak Murdinald |

"Stay still, ya little pest!"
Covering his shoulder by sticking close to the cart he winces only a little as an arrow flies overhead at the Goblin in front of him.
"Thanks for the backup, lass! I always appreciate covering fire!
Rodrak swings again, perhaps a little wilder and more forcefully then wholly necessary.
Melee Attack - Warhammer: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 81d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Justin: Doing the dimensional (electric) slide in a way that would make some people very jealous, you complete your manouver, Vanishing your team mate with style.
Eldira: Shooting into the fray, your arrow finds it marks, but fails to penetrate the filthy armor the goblin is wearing.
Running some calculations in your head, you surmise that you cant have been far off.
Oskar: Again the small, agile frames of the Goblins escape your fists. Its baffling that something which such a huge head would be so hard to hit... Or maybe the mead was a little bit more stronger then you thought?
Rodrak: Swing going wide, instead of smashing a Goblin, an innocent fruit crate takes the brunt of the blow, shattering and scattering fruit everywhere.
Rataji: Seeing their object of mad adoration vanish, the goblins pay little attention to what is actually happening. Half panicked they look around, but fail to spot you.
Striking from invisibility, your rapier finds it mark true, and you stab one of the goblins right trough the heart. red is dead
Goblins Primary: Seeing Rataji re-appear, the remaining goblins dont even flinch when showered in the blood of their fellow goblin. It seems to inspire them to even greater acts of madness.
With screams they turn on the Aasimar, oblivious to the fact that she isnt a fire demon at all.
One of the goblins even goes as far as scrambling along the foodcart to reach Rataji.
Bite attack yellow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Bite attack blue: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 bite damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
But in their madness their chomping mouths find nothing but a few threads of cloth.
Goblins Tetiary: The Goblin Song keeps echoing across the square.
Not in the least let down by their previous failure, the two goblins strike again at the townsfolk while the third keeps eating from the dog carcass.
Dogslicer attack green: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 bite damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Dogslicer attack purple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 bite damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Both find their mark this time, elicting cries of pain from the victems, while causing greater panic in the crowd.
Townspeople: Trying to get as far and fast away from the goblin threat, a roar of rage suddenly erupts from the crowd. Charging headlong towards a goblin, is Daviren Hosk, a retired hunter who runs the Goblin Squash stables. Daviren's hatred of goblins is nearly legendary in Sandpoint.
Holding a piece of heavy wood, clearly ripped from an awning somewhere, he takes a might swing at the goblin.
charge attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
His swing misses, but leaves a large hole in the earth of the square.

Expecting a giant dwarf and a fire thing that clearly has their attention to make short work of the goblins, Justin backhandedly tosses a Daze (will DC 15) on Blue Goblin while walking off towards the man with the giant club.

Rataji the Resourceful |

Rodrak, are you including your new size in your melee bonus?
"Agreed! We'll finish them off if we can! They seem to think me particularly tasty, so maybe we can encourage them to go after me instead of townspeople?"
Rataji dances in with her rapier on blue, hair flaming in earnest now.

We do this for the children and the Swallowtail

Oskar Dragenaev |

Slightly startled by the dwarf’s sudden embiggenment, Oskar figures the goblins are probably just as taken aback, if not moreso. He quickly sprints around to the other side of the cart, lunging for the startled goblin perched on top of it.

Oskar: Now that the goblin is perched on the cart, it is suddenly at a hight you're much more accustomed to punching.
