Kyorli starts creeping his way forward through the tunnel. He can see in the dark and tries to be as attentive as it let's his "voices in the head".

How are you going to see as a party?
The curious gnome makes it as far as the door. It's silent as a tomb...

Fundir
|
I am not entirely sure where we are supposed to be on the map..
Fundir gets his wits together as the rest of the party drops in around him. As he realizes not everyone can see, he mutters a quick cantrip, and light shines brightly from a rivet in the front of his buckler, allowing everyone to see. As he does this, he concentrates yet again, and the fur and bat ears retreat back into his body, revealing once more the smooth scales of his natural form.
Was there anything to be found with 27 Perception roll?

i cast light right after standing up. immediate surroundings should be visible.

Sorry, can't get to the map from my phone. NE corner there are hallways, the only place to go is south to the door.
No, Fundir perceives nothing (silent as a tomb)

Nergi Khalka

A sudden realisation strikes Nergi. She frowns for a moment, in deep thought. Her eyes scan her nearest surroundings. She checks the walls, the moist floor, even the ceiling. Then she looks above her, at the beam of light from the hole through which they were washed in.
Um ... How do we get back?
| Dungeon Master S |
When it's time to go back, it shouldn't be much of a problem. The hole is only about 10' above. Once the torrent of water subsides, it's not a hard climb.
I've updated the map with Fundir at the door, you guys should feel free to change it.
Nergi Khalka
|
hah! easy for you to say when you're not 3 ft high.
Fundir, let's make a deal. You hit stuff, and let me get hit instead. Just in case. The bug hurt like hell. I'm not sure I want to submit anyone else to that kind of pain.
The halfling dons her shield, pulls a dead firefly from her spell pouch, and makes a quick hand gesture. The outward side of her shield starts shining like a torch.
ie: lemme go first
Fundir
|
Fundir looks at the Halfling as she proposes her deal and cocks his head quizzically. "Thank you for the ssssentiment. You may lead, and I will do my besssst to cover you."
He turns away from the curious Halfling and begins to examine the door for any traps. If he finds none, he well step behind Nergi and allow her to open it.

He doesn't find any traps.

Kyorli Zilmorn

Kyorli waiting.
Ready! Open it.
| Dungeon Master S |
Kyorli opens the door to a room with a view befitting the mission thus far. Carved pillars in the corners of this chamber hold aloft a double-vaulted ceiling of cracked frescoes. On either side of the chamber, a single step leads up into a deeply recessed area that forms an arched room of its own.
On the floor of the east recess, the perfectly preserved body of a young boy lies in a puddle and stares silently upward.
Map updated.
Nergi Khalka
|
Looking at the body in the room, Nergi just shakes her head and comes closer. She knees next to it and puts her hand next to the child's mouth, checking for signs of breath.
Kyorli Zilmorn
|
Kyorli cautiously approaches the boy's body, but tries to stay away.
Negri, if he moves you punch first and then ask the questions, not vice versa.
| Dungeon Master S |
As Nergi checks the bodies a pair of insubstantial creatures emerge form the walls. They babble and moan, twitching as they move about. The malignant cloud of shadows boils in the air, its skeletal maw eerily babbling as the creature's claws manifest from the darkness.
Everyone needs to make a will save, DC 15.
The babbling is... unreal. The... dead... the how... what.... You are Fascinated for 2d4 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5 rounds if you failed.
An Allip! It's touch damages not the body but the mind! You can ask a specific question for every 5 by which you beat the DC

Nergi swings her axe at the apparition.

| Dungeon Master S |
BIIIIG GM mistake. I gave you guys the text for the higher tier. I'm really sorry guys. It's not that at all! A massively jacked bugbear zombie emerges. I think the simplest thing to do is to rewind the damage it did to Nergi, and replace with a fist attack. Sorry about that guys.
The bugbear's fist slams into Nergi for DMG: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6. She returns the favor with her axe!

AH, got it. Yes, my mistake resulted in your wasted 20. It's only fair. extra CRIT damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + 2 = 7
Nergi's axe bites DEEP into hte zombie's leg muscle. Sinew snaps and viscera oozes from the wound.

Been not surprised zombie's ambush, Kyorli shoots a ray of a blinding light, emanating from his palms.
Disrupt Undead: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 201d6 ⇒ 5
| Dungeon Master S |
Sure :-)
This is a zombie, a mindless undead intent only on that which is in front of it. For each 5 you beat the DC, you can ask me a question.
Kyorli's aim is superb and slams into the zombie's chest. This beast is sturdy though, and will take a lot more than that to fell.

While shooting, Kyorli remembers something...
Hm!! I know something about such zombies... This undead almost mindless - like the guy, that opened gate for us! But not so much, of cause... Don't know, how it can help us.
Then he makes a funny face, sticking his tongue out, aim it at the zombie.
Edyth-Kineticist

Sorry for delay, been sick since Saturday, not online much.
Edyth rather enjoys staying away from zombies, so she'll try her water blast: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 from afar, and misses so severely that she hopes she didn't hit Nergi instead.
| Dungeon Master S |
Yuck. Hope you feel better now!
Thankfully Nergi was just a bit off target too!
Round 1:
Baddie: ATK
Nergi: CRIT
Edyth: Miss
Kyorli: Disrupt Undead

Its going to be a rough week for me. I have a very nasty test both today and on thursday. Please bot me as necessary.
As Fundir rushes forward to stand beside Nergi, His bulk once again increases exponentially, aiding him as he brings his sword down in a glittering arc...
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
| Dungeon Master S |
Good luck Fundir! (What's the exam?
Fundir's blade comes down hard, and the wounds begin to take their toll. The zombie feels no pain, and continues its assault, aiming for the last person to hit it, Fundir: Fist: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 but misses!

With a focused look, Nergi continues to swinging at the creature.
Boarding Axe ( Cold Iron ): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
| Dungeon Master S |
This time Nergi's aim isn't as good. The axe slides parallel to the zombie's side and doesn't injure it.

That day is today, that totally confirms!
Kyorli levels a ray of bright light at the zombie and nails it square in the chest, clearly weakening the abomination.
Round 2:
Baddie: ATK
Nergi: Miss
Edyth: Go
Kyorli: Crit
Fundir: Go

Yep! 5 games was needed for me to understand that I need to confirm attack, not a natural 18-20 .)) Every day in every game I learn something new ))
| Dungeon Master S |
I've been playing this game since 1989, starting with 1st edition. I learn new stuff all the time. All. The. Time. :-)

I am in an accelerated program for my RN, and the tests are in Pharmacology and Nursing fundamentals. The Pharm test is single handedly responsible for more failures than anything else in the program. Someone thought it would be a great idea to throw all of the hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmic, diuretic, and antibiotic/viral/fungal meds onto one test then assign an instructor that believes the class should be primarily self taught. FUN DAYS!! Good news is the test was postponed until Monday.
Fundir dodges the strike leveled at his head, and tries to keep up the pressure on the Zombie. Unfortunately, his blade catches nothing but air.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
"Keep the pressssure up! Itssss weakening!"
| Dungeon Master S |
Good luck. I grew up with an ER nurse mom, I have total respect for the profession!
Unfortunately, Fundir misses on the follow up swing.
Round 2:
Baddie: ATK
Nergi: Miss
Edyth: Go
Kyorli: Crit
Fundir: Miss
Bugbear zombie: 29
| Dungeon Master S |
I'll bot Edyth for this round, as there's a strong chance she's catching upon work after being ill.
Edyth summons up her internal power and lets loose with a battering ram of water. ATK: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 and drives into the zombie for DMG: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10, though the zombie doesn't much care about broken ribs. Still the blast hurts.
Unable to get to Edyth, the zombie goes for Fundir again, SMASH: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 and misses again!
Round 3:
Baddie: ATK
Nergi: Go
Edyth: Go
Kyorli: Go
Fundir: Go

Nergi takes another swing: Stop dying, and die already!, she screams as she hits the beast.
Boarding Axe ( Cold Iron ): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 91d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
| Dungeon Master S |
Nergi lands a blow right where Edyth cracked its ribs. The creature is really starting to fall apart!
Round 3:
Baddie: ATK
Nergi: Hit
Edyth: Go
Kyorli: Go
Fundir: Go
Bugbear zombie: 37

I was even starting to like this guy. Tough nut to crack.
Disrupt Undead: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 191d6 ⇒ 6
Kyorli sends the new light ray - this time directly into the monster's head.
Haha! What do you say now?
He does not forget to pose faces, using the fact that his companions do not allow to come close to him.
| Dungeon Master S |
Again the blast comes out from the dread gnome and again it slams into the zombie. This time the zombie tumbles, and does not rise, finally dead...again.
Out of combat.
Nergi Khalka
|
The now hyperventilating halfling stores her axe on her belt again.
Well. That was easier than I thought.
Fundir
|
Fundir shrinks back to normal size, before he shakes his head, and suddenly, eagle feathers sprout from his head and his nose elongates out to a beak. From his new visage, he peers around the room, using his buckler to light the far corners of the room. Aspect of the falcon
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
When he is satisfied nothing is left to be seen in the room, he turns his head back to the party and wipes the gore off of his blade as he looks over his companions. "That went.. well. Is everyone ok? Any woundssss? His natural hiss sounds incredibly odd and malformed by the beak protruding from his face.
| Dungeon Master S |
Fundir does spot a glimmer of gold. It's a ring!
Nergi Khalka
|
Nergi feels a bit beaten at this point, so she makes a short incantation. Soon after, some of her wounds seems to close and colour comes back to her cheeks.
