On the matter of continual flame, am I correct in thinking that an archon blooded aasimar can get a free continual flame that will carry over from scenario to scenario thanks to their spell like ability?

Can they make free continual flame spells for other people? If so whats the procedure, write the casters pfs number next to the line detailing conditions gained?

I was kind of curious about this myself. I asked when the book came out, but never got an answer. It could be argued that this might be breaking the "no buy/sell/trade between players" rule.

From an official standpoint, as written I think you are correct, and it would be something that needs to be signed off on, while the Archon-Blooded can do it for free at least 1/scenario.

Seems legit. Thought it's a pretty minor trick, since you can't Heighten it to beat deeper darkness. So it's really no better than light as a cantrip, except you don't have to be a spellcaster.

Congrats on saving 75gp over an ioun torch.

At first level every copper counts!

It is minor, but at the same time, saving infinite other players 110GP, or the potential to sell it off for more than your likely to make in Day Job rolls most of your career can really add up.

This is just one of the reasons I personally feel all but the base Aasimar and Tiefling races should be banned from PFS play. The stats on the Archon-Blooded are pretty ridiculous, too, as are the skills.

I'm sure there's an upper limit to that.

I don't think you can sell it off at all.

Meh. I would have been a dwarf, but i couldn't resist the sirens call of the celestial servant feat for an ankylosaurus ...

I personally would not allow them to sell it, but it's arguable. It doesn't seem like a lot, but some scenario's take place over multiple days, (the NOT Elemental Evil ToEE for example). There is room for abuse, and it can be argued that it is an expendable ability, so would not count as an item you got for free, so you can not sell.

As far as I know, PCs cannot sell spellcasting services in PFS. If they could, then selling your continual flame would be possible.

You are misunderstanding. Continual Flame creates an Everburning Torch, literally. That is what is being sold.

Everburning Torch

Continual Flame

Normally, the cost to cast the spell makes it about the same as you would get for selling it, so not an issue. The issue is that the Aasimar race gets it as a 1/day spell-like ability, and doesn't need to pay the cost to create it. In PFS, Continual Flame is one of the spells that specifically does carry over after the scenario.

I'm gonna have to go with the common sense rule on this one. I don't know of any GMs that would allow this to happen at their table. It doesn't make sense that you would be able to generate an seamingly endless stream of gold on missions that require weeks or months of travelling.

You do know that there is a way for any arcane class to be able to do it for free, as often as their spell slots allow, don't you?

The feat False Focus, which the Razmiran Priest archetype for Sorcerers gets as a replacement for the normal Eschew Materials feat. Just get yourself a holy symbol worth at least 50 gp (my Razmiran Priest went for the gold one, costing 100 gp), and you can cast Continual Flame for free for every 2nd level (or higher!) slot you have.

Of course, that will cost you one of your 2nd level spells known...

But you can still cast it, for free, with a higher slot and the Heighten Spell metamagic feat, if you so desire...
