Background:

Syrusa was born in the Dwarven city of Highhelm to two unknown human merchants as they stopped in the city to sell their wares. After selling the rest of their goods within the city, they wrapped up the just born Syrusa in a torn blanket and left her within one of the alleyways in Highhelm at night. Her birth-parents would then quickly depart the city for lands, far, far away taking both their identity and Syrusa's chance to live a relatively normal life.

When morning broke, and as the city of Highhelm went on their normal business, one eccentric Dwarven alchemist heard the soft cries coming from the alleyway as he made his rounds, taking the young Tiefling and vowing to take care of her. His name was Strom Titanshot, would rush her home and set her in his bed, soon rushing to the nearest bookstores to find out how to effectively care for Tieflings after making sure she was set. Coming home late that night, he would sigh and set down his belongings, ragged from hussling around Highhelm all day. He would quietly cook dinner, collecting himself as he pondered what to do. Cleaning up after himself, he would softly climb onto the bed, bringing her close and embracing her. He would whisper in her ear, reaffirming his vow to raise her up as one of his own, soon drifting off into sleep's loving embrace. As a young Tiefling in primarily Dwarven city, Syrusa knew she was different compared to those around her, the cold stares making that abundantly clear. After a scuffle with some of the neighborhood boys, she would retreat indoors finding solace in her father's library.

On her 10th birthday, Syrusa would be quietly woken her up by her father who had cooked her a large and hearty breakfast for the day to come. Once they were done eating, he would take her down to his alchemist shop for the first time. As his shop came into view, Syrusa would be confused, expecting something other than a usual day of work for her father. As he lead her into the back, Syrusa would quickly be introduced to the love of her life, alchemy. Watching him go to work making extracts, potions, cartridges in his lab wouldentertain the young Tiefling as the day went by, as questions on what he was doing flew from the girl's mouth. When it came time to close down the shop for the night, Syrusa frowned, clearly wanting more. Her spirits would be lifted when her father stated that she was free to come with him to work, so long as she woke up early.

As Syrusa got older her intense passion for alchemy remained intact. Continuing to learn from her father, she quickly took up his trade, assisting him everyday by running the counter or helping him out in the back if he just needed a break. Seeking a better life than being the socially scorned Tiefling Alchemist, Syrusa took her fate into her own hands. After gathering what possessions and money she had, she said goodbye to Strom, giving him one final embrace before leaving Highhelm. Her search for a better life, and a more experienced alchemist to serve under has led Syrusa to the village of Daggor, where she has stopped for a week to rest before continuing her travels south.
