Shâþeg (Half-Orc Dancing Dervish Bard)
Shâþeg ("shaw-THEG") is a half-orc from Golarian's preeminent trading city; Katapesh. He and his siblings were adopted by a human couple. Much of his life was spent as a guard for his family's alchemical shop. His talents make him well suited for the adventuring life as dancing dervish bard.
Early Life of Shâþeg:
Shâþeg ("shaw-THEG") is a third generation half-orc from the city of Katapesh, and is the third of four children. His half-orc alchemist parents, Anglû and Þílfob, both died of disease when Shâþeg was a youngster. By then, they had already ingrained in him talent with both Falchions and Greataxes. Shâþeg and his three siblings were adopted and raised by human friends of their parents: Misgo and Yada'tanit. Alchemists who never had children of their own.
Shâþeg and his siblings all have talents that could lead to becoming adventurers. The eldest sister and older brother, Tuedob and Barusk, are both more talented at alchemy than Shâþeg. Their youngest sister, Ogolah, started showing signs of arcane talents. Shâþeg himself is definitely the strongest, sturdiest, and most dexterous of the siblings. He is of average intelligence, but has an interest a wide breadth of subjects. He has a strong personality, and is prone to being impulsive.
Shâþeg had many chores at his adoptive parents' alchemy shop. Since his darkvision is acute for a half-orc, and since he is both strong and dexterous, he was especially good at being the night guard. He caught, and thrashed, many petty burglars trying to break in. He had neither the need nor inclination to kill any, though. As it was, his beatings discouraged burglars at making more than one attempt.
One day, in one of Katapesh's many bazaars, Shâþeg got into a heated argument with Sabsi, a local pesh exporter. Sabsi's son was one of many burglars that Shâþeg had soundly thrashed. Before they could come to blows, though, Corvudd, a striking raven-haired beauty visiting from Magnimar intervened. She immediately resolved the bad blood between both Shâþeg and Sabsi. She offered to buy, on the spot, copious quantities of pesh from Sabsi and Alchemical wares from Shâþeg's family. But only on the condition that they solemnly swore to let bygones be bygones. Which they did. In Katapesh, good business triumphs over bad blood!
By a great stroke of luck, Corvudd was a well travelled dancing dervish bard. More importantly, she was also an old friend of Misgo and Yada'tanit! Freshly arrived in Katapesh to visit her old friends. Almost as soon as she stepped off ship at the docks, she stumbled on the rather noisy argument between Shâþeg and Sabsi. Recognizing Shâþeg's own potential as a dancing dervish bard, Corvudd took it upon herself to train him while she stayed in Katapesh. While training Shâþeg, Corvudd also made her friends' alchemical shop much more secure from burgling. By means both magic and mundane. Making it much less reliant on having a guard.
Corvudd, also a seasoned member of the the Pathfinder Society, put in a good word to get Shâþeg membership in the same. Shâþeg is now ready and eager to try his own newfound talents and skills in a life of adventure. He hopes his talents and skills can stand him in good standing with the Pathfinder Society and that he can live up to Corvudd's expectations of him.
Personality:
Shâþeg is fairly even tempered, having lived among humans and not being subjected to fear and loathing for being a half-orc. While not vicious, he has no qualms about using brow-beating or violence if needs must.
His worship of Sarenrae keeps his talents for violence subdued. Or mostly subdued. Of course, he is not the most devout follower of The Dawn Flower.
If he has a job to do, he will do it as best he can. Especially out of personal loyalty. To that end, he is fond finding novel solutions. Especially if appears to be eccentric or erratic behaviour to others. He will fulfill the spirit of agreements or bargains. But do not expect him to fulfill them by the letter!
Shâþeg takes personal loyalty very seriously and will not betray friendships or personal trusts. By the same token, he reacts very badly if betrayed.
Motivation:
Plain old curiosity is his driving force. He is keen to experience and learn as much as he can. And to see how well his arcane and martial talents can be combined to break down barriers to gathering knowledge.
