About Karlo Graevs

Story:

Way back when, my family owned a farm a little ways out from Gumlat. My mom and pops raised livestock, which my sister, Lara, helped sell at market. I helped out at the farm sometimes, but I had other things to do.

My buddies, Ryden and Paul, and I were really into wrestling. Well, really, it was more just fighting in general. After a few months, we grew into a kinda fight club. A few months late we were more like a gang. Those were really good times.

It's too bad they had to end. My pops had some problems. He got really into drinking and gambling with his buddies. He owed a lot of money to some really bad people, who decided to make an example of his farm and home, with him and my mom still inside it.

My sister and I moved to Gumlat, where she opened a grocery that for a while I helped out with. It wasn't doing well enough to stay open, so I found other ways of making money.

I went down past the hold to get involved in the fighting pits there and won a few times. It was good money, but not enough for what I was doing. After almost losing my life in a fight, I was ready to move on. My buddies ended up going to Coran and becoming bodyguards so I ended up joining them.

I was sending most of my money to my sister back home, but I just wasn't making enough for both of us. I tried a few odd jobs that fit me better. I was always good at sneaking around town and great at choking people out, so I used these skills to bring down the muscle of a couple of guys that had it coming. I got noticed, and I guess that's what brings me here.

Description:

Karlo is tall, for a human, standing at just a hair over six foot four, and seems even taller with his wide frame and large shoulders. He weighs just two hundred and sixty pounds, most of it muscle, though recently a small layer of fat has built up to betray his love for fine foods he could never before afford. He has a low, rounded jaw and a large forehead.

Karlo's skin, though once somewhat pale, is now very much tanned from a life spent outside in the sun and carries many scars from past fights, including a large scar on his left shoulder that appears to be from a deep bite from a large animal. His short hair, once black, is now a deep, dark brown. His eyes, in contrast, are a very pale blue, which stands out even more against his dark grey cloak which he wears for little reason, as he carries no weapons to hide.

Underneath he wears fine-tailored clothing of simple design, favoring those which give him the most ease of movement, such as sleeveless open front shirts and shorts or baggy pants and sticking to earth tones, such as greens and browns.

Fears and Motivations:

Karlo is a creature both of great confidence and great fear. He is not always certain what he should do, rather taking orders than giving them, but will try to seize advantage of a good opportunity if he sees one.

His greatest fear is that he will lose the few people in the world he has left: his sister and his buddies from his old gang. He doesn't think his sister knows what he does. He tells her he makes so much money by being a bodyguard to a rich merchant. He's also afraid he'll end up like his father, getting in debt and getting his sister killed, so he avoids gambling and drinking, though he has enjoyed both the few times he's tried them.

Karlo's greatest motivation is to secure a good future for both himself and his sister, though more and more his second greatest, that of enjoying what he does and the expensive lifestyle that comes with it, is moving to the top. He also really wants to show off his strength by bringing down strong opponents, but that won't stop him from backing down if told to.
