Backstory:
Henry was born the second son after Horatio to the affluent Flaxseed family headed by Scranton Englebert "Scruffy" Flaxseed in the city of Cassomir in Taldor. Henry and Horatio quickly gained reputations as galant and chivalrous knights as well as learned students of history and courteous friends of all. Years later they would be given a brother, Bartholomew Robert, who was equally learned albeit less chivalrous and more miscievous. Henry and Horatio came to call their younger brother "Black Bart", but when Henry and Horatio left for Andoran to aid in the freeing of slaves, Bartholomew Robert instead took up the name "Black Bart" as his own and turned to a life of theivery and pirating.

In Andoran Henry and Horatio met up with a milita of halfling freedom-fighters and made their way to a small village in Cheliax where they freed the halfling slaves being held captive there and brought the thralls back to Andoran. Along the way Henry came to wed one of the slaves, Mary Ann, and instead of returning to Cassomir with Horatio, Henry and Mary Ann instead turned aside to Absalom, the City at the Center of the World, in the hopes of creating a better life and raising a family together.

They moved into a small building in the Foreign District where Mary Ann gave birth to a daughter, Lilian. Henry became fast friends with some of the city's notable scholars, who helped the Flaxseeds find a nicer home in the heart of the Wise Quarter where Henry found a job working as a member of the Learned Guard. Shortly thereafter Mary Ann gave birth to their son Trotter, who would grow up to be a fine student. After hearing about the Pathfinder Society from one of his teachers, Trotter became enamoured with the organization and Henry encouraged him to join. After Trotter's acceptance into the Society, he convinced Henry and Lilian to join as well.
