Alright people, you don't like a thread?

Don't post in it.

Don't like a posters attitude, or feel they're insulting others?

Don't reply to it.

Some troll trying to stir up the edition wars again?

Don't answer.

A thread can't continue without replies. A troll can't flame in no one responds to him. And posting to a thread you don't like won't kill it.

Flag it however you think appropriate. And shut up about it. Telling someone you flagged them defeats the purpose of the flag system.

You can't change people's habits through vigilante posting. The only people here that can inflict sanctions are the mods.

Let them handle the policing. And have a nice day.

Spoiler:
Yes, I am aware of the meta about to descend. Let's see which way it goes.

I agree with you.

Sometimes I like to post in threads I hate.

Sometimes I hate threads that aren't flaggable.

Sometimes, there's a tangent in a thread that I like and comment on, while continuing to believe the thread is worthless baiting that should be locked.

Sometimes I just want to howl in pain.

Sometimes you don't?

;)

Agreed with TOZ and EL.

And I love utopian societies with no violence and hunger.

A fascinating first post, but... nothing new. And won't happen.

Kinda sounds like a new guy to messageboards.

You do realise that if this thread isn't ignored and dies very quickly that it's likely to devolve into personal attacks and flame-wars, don't you?
Oh well, good intentions and all that... Carry on. On behalf of the dark lord, Asmodeus, and Hell I give this thread an official rubber stamp of approval.

LIke in the "should christians play pathfinder "thread where every other reply is "kill this thread" therefor making it longer and more stupid?

EDIT:besides i like to see a bunch of people get more and more upset with each other and have a thread spiral out of control in fact at soem point hitler will be mentioned it is a law!

Hey! If he approves of it, then I do not.
Darn it. He got away.
Now I can't remember if I planted a barnacle tracker or a limpet on him the last time we fought.
Where's my clam?

I have a suspicion that the majority of non-technical threads tend to become sillier in one or more sense of the word the longer that they go on... ;)

Threads don't go away, search engines secret them like it's their preciousssss.

I will post in threads that I disagree with- my goal isn't to convince the OP, but it is to show an opposing argument for future readers of the thread. Everyone seems to assume this is a conversation, this internet. That is very far from the truth. This data will likely outlive you- but even if no one cares about it then, over the course of the next months and years, people will find the thread via search engine.

Instead of a conversation, picture that you are talking with a friend at Gencon, only you are speaking over a con-wide intercom, and someone is transcribing it all. That's what this is.

So by all means, disagree publicly instead of pretending something will "die". "Stuff I see at the top of the forum" is relatively transient and unimportant, but the conversation remains etched in digital stone.

With what?

Shadow Lodge

If you look at the far right end of the thread title in the forum list, right after 'X posts', there is a little circle with a line through it. Click that and the thread goes away.

Duh. My feeble attempt of being funny failed miserably... Trying again.
