Hey Kayos!
Good to see you again. The game had pretty much fallen off my radar, but I'm more than happy to return to it and take up Kells again if you all are interested! And I am more than happy to change to the Pathfinder rule set.
Eeee! So glad! I love Kells :D

Alright, so we have:
Joining us are the players;
and
Now I realise this brings us to 9, but better too many than too few right? and I promise to tweak where necessary to make things more interesting and this allows for potential 'divide & conquer' approaches to challenges, the party can always split down into smaller groups and rejoin after tackling seperate tasks.

I have a PF character from a Runelords PBP that fell away. He is second level already and I think built on the same point system. I could tweak him and adjust his background to fit a Realms game. He is a dwarven druid. Check his current incarntaion out Grond Aardde. Just need some game hooks to get him involved with the other characters.

A druid fits well with Bronzewood, again that would link to kessel, or perhaps he's druid he offers help on farms surrounding Daggerford.. that way he would know Tobin and Darie's families and could be wondering where the young farmers have disappeared off to.

I like the working amongst the farmers idea, and he has a special spot in his stonelike heart for the halfling folk so he could be trying to locate Tobin for his family.
I have tweeked the skills to account for your bonus points. I changed his hammer to Masterwork (the axe or studdeded leather isn't inline with my concept) I hope that is Okay. I just need to fix his background to realms..I havent played in relms in along time can you fill me in on some of the dwarf gods. I need one particulary focused on the earth.
??Are you alowing character traits??

I was allowing the 3.5 character traits
*thinky*
I'll be nice, as a thank you for those that have stuck by me and a welcome to my newies, feel free to help yourself to a PFRPG character trait for free!
As for dwarven gods: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Morndinsamman (Alas some of the info there is the 4th ed stuff so ignore those bits and stick with the 3.0 info)

Marthammur Duin fits the character story I already had. I've adjusted the backstory and fixed all the character details an present Grond, the Dwarven Druid

Has anyone settled on whether they are giong to be a cleric or a Druid. I would loke to play one of those, which ever one isn't taken. However, I could find something else if both are.
The entry 2 above your first post is Mythril Dragon's Dwarven Druid, and I think someone chose Cleric already. I'm going with the above mentioned Ranger.

I'll sit down tonight or tomorrow to get Kells reconsiled into the Pathfinder rules. I'll have a little bit of time to catch up on what has been happening in the game since we offed the beetles. Great to be in the saddle with him again, thanks!

I like what I've seen so far from people making characters. I have a busy weekend though so I won't be doing DMy stuff until Monday or Tueday most likely, just thought I'd let you know I'm here and will be throwing ideas and things around when we're back to weekdays!

When Pathfinderising our existing characters, what should we do about the extra +2 ability score bonus? Add it in on top? Ignore it? I guess we might have assigned our abilities differently, if we'd known about it.
Perhaps it might be better to go back and PF the ability scores, too? Our current characters would cost the following using the PF point buy:
Darie: 25
Kells: 22
Kessel: 24
Tobin: 24
But the first three are all human, so if we knock 2 off their highest ability, and take 2 off Tobin's charisma, we get the following costs:
Darie: 20
Kells: 16
Kessel: 20
Tobin: 21
That's pretty close to a 20 point buy! Thoughts?

Got some background up now
I love it Mark :) but I think we've only been adventuring for less then a week. I think we're a little less then a day outside of Daggerford, the first day we went to the cairn and then found an old mine office to camp out in, second day Kells got crushed by some snakes, third day Kells got hit by the mold . . . good times :)
I think we're only approaching day 4.

Right, bare with me if I get babbly here, I'm only just waking up.
I'm open to suggestion on the points buy for stats, whilst it does look like the original characters were roughly 20pt buys I am also happy to just leave the attributes at the old 3.5 way of buying them and the humans can still have the pathfinder +2, I admit this makes the stat lines quite good but my tabletop group usually roll for stats and tend to be lucky so I'm used to dealing with good stats! It'll just encourage me to play with encounters to make them more interesting!
The characters so far look good, but yes the group have only been gone a few days, but disappearing off for a couple of days is noteworthy in a small community like Daggerford. But they could have been observed coming and going for that time
Grishnak looks good so far too :)

Ok, some quick notes:
Grishnak has Varisia in his background, you're in the Forgotten Realms so that will need a tweak and we'll find a way to link him to the other characters.
joegeek; I can#t access the link you gave unfortunately.
Thane is also looking good, we just need to make a viable background to weave him into the setting and the group.

Actually, thinking it over, I feel your original suggestion is best - we should just stick with your original 3.5E point buy system. That makes the existing characters pretty much equivalent to a proper Pathfinder 20 point character, without any fiddling around. (Though Kells might feel a bit short-changed!) It should be easy for the new characters to match, as well - they just need reminding to stick to the 3.5E racial ability adjustments.
Currently, by my reckoning, Grishnak is on 30 points, Thane is on 39, and Grond Aarde is on 38. The original characters are all 32 points.

I'm approaching done on Kells. Were you wanting us to add the +2, or just leave stats the way they were, Kayos? I'm cool either way!
In moving him away from the Paladin of Freedom, I have made him in the service of Bahamut. The caring for the weak and poor is a theme that resonates with Kells.

Right, Easter is over, back to work!
First things first, I'm awful with numbers sometimes and am only half awake, so - Callum; you're doing well on keeping an eye on ability scores: what do you think would be fairest all around? I'm wracking my brain to make the number balance for everyone and I'm failing!
Thane is looking good so far in the background but we still need to tie him to an existing PC. Perhaps both he and Grishnak know each other and both did something together to catch the eye of one of the PCs - Kells maybe?
Elian looks great.
Just Waiting on Olli's cleric too.

Working on it right now, how about this, since you are looking for a mine to buy, we crossed paths and you are using my dwarven mine knowledge to better help you pick a mine - as a cover, but in reality I am accompanying you as more muscle for your task, because this sounds like a thing that might bring my standing up a notch.

I think the best way to make the new characters match the old, without requiring the old ones to be rebuilt from the ground up, is to stick with a 32 point 3.5E build, and 3.5E racial ability adjustments. (Note that this pretty closely equates to a 20 point Pathfinder build with Pathfinder racial ability adjustments, which is what one might choose for a new Pathfinder game.) Then we can all just add new Pathfinder goodness on top of that base!
| Callum |
How do things look, when do you want us to jump into the story?
Thane, Grond Aarde, and Elian Oakspar all have ability scores that are too high - probably from using the Pathfinder racial ability adjustments, rather than the 3.5E ones. (In 3.5E, as a reminder, dwarves get +2 Con and -2 Cha, while half-elves get no ability adjustments.) Grishnak, on the other hand, has only spent 30 points on his abilities, and thus can bump something up!
