Slithering Serpents - Serpentfolk using the ARG

Homebrew and House Rules

Now with the Advanced Race Guide out, I get to make my favourite race as a PC race! Enjoy the write-up, I hope its not total crap.

Playable Serpentfolk

(And if you're wondering, I just threw the art together in GIMP.)

20 points is a little high for a Player Character race. :(

That's pretty sick man, they're good for just about anything even with the -2 Str.

Well it's an advanced race. Yeah they're a little powerful, but that's the whole point of power tiers, isn't it?

EDIT: fixed spelling.

Maybe make a toned down version as well for people whos DM wont allow for Buffed up races.

Couldn't those people just use nagaji?

If you de-east them, they make perfectly acceptable run-of-the-mill snake people.

They don't really have any racials that ties them to the Dragon Empire content.

The primary issue with nagaji as serpentfolk is their Intelligence penalty that would have to be replaced with something else for so arcane-focused race.

You raise a good point sir. But if you compare them to monstrous serpentfolk, they are toned down. Nevertheless, I shall endeavour to craft a more player friendly version. It should be up in an hour or two.

Here are updated versions, an 'advanced' one and one that is more player-friendly.

'Lesser' Serpentfolk

'Advanced' Serpentfolk

I like it a lot. Both versions fit the same flavor well while allowing for different campaigns and playstyles. Nicely done.

Your "lesser" serpenfolk are quite suitable for use as a PC (being the same "power level" as dwarves).

I know nobody really cares, but I updated the art.

I don't know. I liked the white dress better.

The purple and green just's isn't doing it for me. :)

Hhhhmmmmm.....I might switch the scales to a greyish-black. But then I'll feel compelled to upload the updated version to my DA account, which already has two versions of what is essentially the same picture. DAMN YOU OCD!!!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The 'Lesser Serpentfolk' is pretty cool as an option for players. Though, it is too bad there is probably no way to fit in the original race's disguise self ability so they can blend in with humans.

Compare to Drow Noble, which had like around 50 points, if not even more.

Again, I don't think anyone really cares, but I changed the hypnotic grace ability of lesser serpentfolk to snake charmer, so as not to confuse it with hypnotic gaze.
