So I have a bit of a strange question. What is the result of a lycanthrope in animal form mating with an ordinary animal of its type? What spurred this question was a recent werewolf character of mine. In his backstory, he spent a number of years in wolf form living in the wilderness as the alpha male of a pack of wolves. I'm assuming he sired at least a couple of wolf pups in that time and now I'm wondering if there might be some werewolf children of his that might track him down (for good or ill) or if he merely expanded the local wolf population by a little bit. I know there are probably no rules anywhere that would cover this kind of scenario, I'm just looking for people's opinions. My personal opinion is that either lycanthropes don't breed true unless it is with other lycanthropes (thus creating natural lycanthropes) or a half-lycanthrope could exist, which would conceivably be an afflicted lycanthrope from a game mechanics stand point (abilities like DR are watered down from a natural lycanthrope's). Jeez, fantasy role-playing games can spawn the oddest questions!

Maybe that's where worgs came from, originally? :)
Or the 'kids' could be DR 5/silver werewolf-touched wolves in the area, who lack any other special features, other than perhaps an Int 6 and malevolent streak (and the magical beast type)...
GM's call, really. If he doesn't want to deal with it, werewolf-on-wolf pairings could just be infertile.

Perhaps a wolfwere?

The topics that grace forums will never cease to amaze me. This post is a reminder of that truth.
Rule 38(?): if it exists, there is a forum post about it
Shoulda seen Werewolf: the Apocalypse. Somewhere between a third and half of werewolves were the descendents of werewolves and wolves, and there was an entire sub-group, the Red Talons, devoted to them, who considered werewolf / human offspring to be 'less pure.'
The last time a gaming related crossbreed blipped my freaky radar was a half-dragon black pudding in Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil.
I mean, really, how drunk did that dragon have to be? Standards, people!

Maybe the pudding was actually cultured in a wizard's lab. Similar to how Warforged can possess half-templates legally, even though there is no biological process to their creation. They were just created that way.
Or maybe the dragon was just really desperate to hide his horde. :P

Hey, I don't judge

Perhaps a wolfwere?
I think this is how I'm going to handle this scenario if it pops up in any of my games (my GM in this one just says that it makes normal wolves).
My only experience with wolfweres is from the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion for Baldur's Gate for PC. I assume they were in 2nd ed. and weren't carried through to 3rd (compared to a lot of people on these boards I'm a bit of a newb - I only started playing in the twilight years of 2nd ed.). Do you know where I might be able to find stats for a wolfwere so I that I could try and Pathfinder-ize it?

Already converted in the Frog God Games The Tome of Horrors Complete. Page 738 under the heading Therianthrope. This is a GREAT resource to have. It has many of the old 1e/2e critters that WotC never converted, or converted later. It means that some monsters that are technically closed content, have an OGL version that WotC had licensed Necromancer Games to convert early in the 3e Era. Not to mention the fact that Paizo references this, and the previous versions, quite often in there products.

Page 738? Holy cow, how many monsters are packed in that thing? *checks link* Wow, that is one impressive tome. Thanks for the tip, I've got to get my hands on that thing!
