I hope a GM out there can run a PBP where the PCs are the SuperVillains.
And no, I am NOT offering to run the PBP.
I'm curious. What would be the attraction in doing this?
I've played Hero games, and even gone so far as to play Vigilante type games where you "play dirty" and such which is basically fighting fire with fire. What would you be trying to do as a villain? i mean you have a huge range of possibilities, but i think the game would self desctruct as soon as someone wanted to play a sociopath like..the joker..or carnage...or doomsday, etc etc.

Did a "young mutants" game once where we played a street gang called the "Control Freaks" powers ranged from control over physics (density control, gravity control, kinetic control) to a mindbender type.
There was:
Anomaly (my character)
Cherry Bomb (Anomaly's love interest, had pyrokinetics)
Alter (form control)
Twister (mind control to a limited extent)
and
Billy (demon summoner)
Fun times.

There's a Savage Worlds game book out called 'Necessary Evil,' in which the Earth is overrun by alien invaders, and the various superheroes of the world end up getting slaughtered during the initial invasion.
Your characters are supervillains of Earth, gathering together to fight and repel the conquering aliens, since nobody but *you* are allowed to conquer the world!
That sounds kinda neat.
Otherwise, a pure supervillains game, without some overriding goal, sounds like it would be a bit too 'sandbox' for most GMs to be comfortable with, as the PCs would have all sorts of agendas.
Superheroes, like most adventurers, are reactive, they just pretty much follow the plot choo-choo, like good little soldiers, but supervillains are the ones who make their own plot choo-choos...
A GM experienced in STing games like Vampire: the Masquerade, where each character has their own agenda, which may conflict with those of other members of their coterie, would probably have an easier time handling such a setup, but, even then, it can be more work than just leading people through a series of preplanned encounters.

Have you ever wanted to play a supervillain?
Yes.

What is the attraction of playing pretend with rules?

Excellent points. Yes, it would necessitate a certain level of maturity and agreement amongst the players. There certainly needs to be a unifying goal either generated by the GM or the players themselves. It is not something I would ever contemplate attempting in a 'pick up' game.
