Hey, I'd like to introduce you all to a comic which, odds are, you have never even seen before (unless you read the Off-Topic Discussions, and I recently linked to it from there): Remember. This is a story, set in the world of Avbaroy, about a young mage from Arcania. It uses the same art style as the Order of the Stick. It seems really cliché at first, but it actually turns out very well. A bit of background:
The Moon Elf Empire has conquered many lands. Their leader, Queen Sildyu, has the Talisman of the Dragon King, which forces the other dragons to obey only her. Unknown to most, she is actually working for the Demon Lord Vilkarlig, who has implanted a sort of demonic parasite known as the 'Shades' into her, making her much more powerful. Most nations, such as the Grand Tusk Planes (home to the orcs)and Armarnea (a nation with impressive technology which it is desperate to keep), have surrendered without a fight. A few, though, such as Lockutas, Schizotec, Helina and Arcania, refused to give in. Lockutas had great steam-powered technology, especially given that Avbaroy is mostly medieval, and put up a good resistance, but the Moon Elves managed to freeze all water in Lockutas through powerful magic, rendering Lockutas pathetic and utterly defeated, but at least alive. Schizotec had even better technology, unknown to Sildyu due to their utter isolation,and managed to beat back the Empire. Helina was also very powerful, and everyone knew it, so the Empire left them alone for a while. Unfortunately, neither of these nations give a damn about the rest of Avbaroy, for various reasons. Arcania has a powerful magical energy shield, and many mages, so they are confident that they can easily outlast the siege to come. In fact, they have threatened the moon elves, telling them to stop the incursion or there will be trouble. And that is where things stand at the beginning.
