I am curious what everyone thinks about how well the current Critical Hit and Fumble Decks will work with 4E. Do you think that there is no potential for use at all? Will they be to weak? If used will they make Critical Hits and Fumbles to devastating?
I am considering buying these items but will also be running a 4E CotCT game in a couple months time.
Thanks

As far as I know, crits are handled differently in 4th Ed. So I'm not sure how much the crit deck will be usable without a few modifications. And, there's certain game mechanics of the deck (Fort saves for certain things) that don't apply to 4th Ed, since there won't be any saves of that type any more, but instead attacks against the Fort defense. I'm sure the mechanics could be altered somewhat to keep the cards usable, though.

First, I think that you will have a much harder time converting CotCT to 4e than you imagine. It is going to be much less backwards compatible than it was to go from 2e to 3.x. Just so you know.
Second, in response to your primary question, crits in 4e deal auto max damage, with additional effects for magic weapons. But there is absolutely no ability damage in 4e, so most of the effects of the cards won't be applicable. I've been playing a 3.5 game with the Critical Hit cards since they came out and they're awesome, but I don't think they'd be worth your money if you don't plan on sticking with the edition.
