Would you use real-time artwork in your TTRPG

Online Campaigns General Discussion

I’m working on Illusionist, a tabletop RPG assistant that turns live session descriptions into scene images as the story unfolds.

The basic idea is: the DM describes the scene, players respond, and Illusionist helps visualize the evolving moment without forcing the table to stop and search for art.

The main feature is real-time scene visualization. I’m also working through how campaign memory, NPC tracking, and session summaries should fit into the workflow.

I’m interested in feedback from DMs and players on whether this is something they would actually use, what would make it most helpful at the table, and what would make it worth paying for.

I like the focus on helping the table stay immersed instead of stopping to search for artwork. I'm especially curious about how the campaign memory and NPC tracking will work over a long campaign.

Interesting concept! I like the idea of visualizing scenes without interrupting the session. I’d definitely be curious to see how well it handles unexpected changes during gameplay.

@101 games The real-time visualization sounds interesting, especially for groups that enjoy a more immersive, cinematic style of play. My biggest concern would be whether generating images actually keeps up with the pace of a live session without becoming a distraction.

I think the campaign memory and NPC tracking could be just as valuable as the images themselves. If Illusionist could remember important details from previous sessions and automatically keep NPCs, locations, and major events consistent, that would make it much more useful than simply being an image generator.

For me, the ideal workflow would be something the DM can trigger with minimal effort, rather than having to stop and write detailed prompts. I’d also be interested in seeing how you handle incorrect interpretations when the AI generates something that doesn’t match what the DM described.
