Impossible Lands observations?

I picked this up in the spring sale and wow, so much Nexy goodness! And badness. It's a complicated place...

Something that really leapt out at me is that if the Enter Image spell ever gets updated to 2e, man, is Quantium *crawling* with images and sculptures of Nex. It's explicitly said at one point that in the lowest levels of the undercity, one might be stared at by four different images of Nex, from four different angles, and that the Quantium golems themselves *have Nex's face* and sometimes peer over the walls, as if curiously looking at the people within the city...

Plus there's even a reference to the Fleshforger of Oenepion, IIRC, using flesh golems as proxies, using some procedure to project his consciousness into them, rather than travelling personally to some meeting or other. Surely Nex could do the same, to the Quantium golems themselves, *if he hasn't already.*

Heck, given that it's Nex, the 1e Enter Image spell might be the least he could do. He might be able to give a 'public announcement' through every single image or representation of himself in the entire city, at the same time. "Uh, Bob, I think Nex is back, and he's not happy."

I love all the Nexy details, and particularly that the place is *far* from some magical utopia, being far less civic/community minded than Nantambu. All the power. None of the social responsibility or heavy focus on community or ethics or, uh, ecological sustainability?

And that's just one land. Bhopal was a surprise to me. I am pretty out of touch, apparently, I'd never heard of that place, and it's even better at hiding than Mediogalti, since Mediogalti is at least on the maps! :)

Anyone find anything particularly fun or exciting in Impossible Lands? I'm sure I missed a bunch!

Liberty's Edge

If you are interested in Bhopal, there are 2 very good PFS scenarios that take place there. They give a lot of background about the place. The first has a strong Alice in Wonderland feel, while the second is pretty much a good disaster movie.

Note though that they predate the Impossible Lands book.

Cool to know, I suspected it had to come from something I'd missed, since they usually announce that sort of thing in the ad blurbs 'all that, amd be the first to discover a mysterious hidden land, just revealed to the world at large?'

I like them having a homeland of their own, rather than sort of try to squeeze them into a pre-existing country. (Although I've been pretty fine with the slow reveals of various uncommon ancestries in 'old' countries, like beastkin in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings or ysoki in Druma or whatever.)
