Pathfinder event changes at GenCon 2026

I've been looking at the events for GenCon this year and I've noticed a change. The events (with the exception of the big communal event for "PFS (2e)") are now only 3 hours instead of 5 hours. Does anyone know the reason for the change? I have had a FEW events that ended early over the years, but not enough to make me think this change was warranted, so I have a couple of questions. The price change is what it is, but the format change is confusing for me.

1) Does this mean the scenarios this year have been altered to run in a shorter timeframe or was 5 hours just way too long and my experience just didn't reflect that?

2) Does this change the number of organized play experience points that are awarded per session?

Starting with PFS2 7-09 for PFS2 (and for all SFS2 scenarios starting with SFS2 1-01), new Org Play scenarios are designed to have a nominal run time of 2-3 hours. Apart from the multitable special which remains 4-5 hours, all the Org Play scenarios being run at Gen Con are of this kind.

The shorter format scenarios still grant the same rewards as the older longer scenarios.

The change in slot length for Gen Con (and the associated decision to only run the new format scenarios) was announced in the blog post here.
