When and what to get for making the leap to Starfinder2?

General Discussion

I'll come at this backwards. I'm a big Warframe fan and I want to pick up SF2+Operation Orias ideally as one big happy bundle. But, I don't even know if the Warframe adventure is going to be in print. So, I have no idea on if I want to get the hardback or the pocket editions.

Any suggestions on what I should pick up and when I should order it from my friendly local gaming store?

I have done some browsing about and I have more questions than answers at this point.

Well, first and foremost, 2e.aonsrd.com has all the rules of the game available for free with the official sign-off of Paizo.

If you want physical books, I would recommend the Starfinder Player Core and Starfinder GM Core at the least. Those two books will contain all the relevant rules for playing the game, all player-facing material (classes, feats, equipment, etc), and various subsystems for throwing interesting challenges at your players.

Would you happen to know if the Warframe book will have a print run? Or if the pocket edition would be the same form factor?

I guess I should mention that I am kind of eyeing this as a x-mas gift for myself. So, I don't have to strike when the iron is red hot. If that means waiting a bit, it is not a deal breaker.

Not seeing an option to pre-order a physical copy, so it might be PDF only

Ouch, if it is PDF only, I might just go all digital this time around. I saw that the stock number was PZO29001-SC and I was hoping that meant at least a soft cover would be available.

Wayfinders

To play Starfinder x Warframe: Operation Orias, all you would need is the SF2e Player Core.

The price of the PDF is $8.99, which suggests it's around the size of a standard organized play scenario, which are PDF only, but from the description, it looks to run a bit longer at 4 to 6 hours. The PDF is available on October 31

Starfinder x Warframe: Operation Orias.

I don't see the stock number on the Paizo store. Where did you see the stock number?

This page, on the right hand side.

Also, there is the quirky thing if you search for warframe it gets a 'soft cover' hit but the link does not go anywhere.

And a GM... I don't have a SF group in my area, but I do have current and former Warframe players in my RPG friends group.

So yeah, I would need the SF2e GM book as well. If Pazio were to offer a SC/pocket edition bundle for SF2e player, SF2 GM, and Warframe it would be a done deal. Will have to see what happens at the end of the month. Hopefully it will be all treats and no tricks.

They held an AMA stream about the collab back in July that stated it was digital only. (Source)

Paizo usually does pocket editions of a book 3 months after the full size release, so the Player Core Pocket edition only just came out this week and the GM Core pocket will be out next month.

Thanks for the info. Sad to hear, but good to know.

Well, the product line manager needs a kick in the shins.

I went to go buy the 'digital only' product and lo and behold there is a link for the print version.

Good news, I can get the version that I want. Bad news, they are kind of incompetent on selling there own products.
