There is a rather glaring absence of basic-melee batons between level 1 and 19. The only advanced ones with Operative tag I see are Cryo. For some reason the shock truncheons are not operative. o_0
Kind of a weird oversight. A billy club is an ideal weapon for an operative conceptually.
This also raises a side question... Why do Operatives not get Advanced Melee Weapons? If they want to take advantage of some of the nice Operative tagged weapons in there, they have to spend like 3 extra feats to get full use out of them.

The weapon system in Starfinder is one of my least favorite parts of the game. I get the need for scaling by level. There's just not 20 physical variations of a basic baton unless you add some energy damage to it, which you can scale by level. Having 20 levels in variations of skill using it seems more realistic to me. The cost of the 19 level advance baton 540,000 credits, for that cost I'd expect a real weapon to be able to in one hit to destroy a fighter jet, tank, or sink a destroyer.
Part of the problem with getting every weapon scaled for every level is to do so would fill a book the size of the CBR. One solution might be an array that scales based on the base damage for the lowest type of that weapon available.

Eh, there's options: batons, saps, and fancy high-tech liquid-UPB polyclubs, to name a few! And that's not even counting the funky ones, like the Idaran force baton or the "Incapacitator" :D
To your other point: it's not that bad to get advanced melee weapon proficiency as an Operative; it's just the two feats, really. And, as they're both Combat feats, you can even take them as an Exploit. Or, for maximum melee Operative madness, take the new Heavyweight Skirmisher alternate class feature, and make people rue the day they thought "lol melee operative, this'll be a pushover" XD
At the end of the day, Operatives already have a reputation as being effortlessly good at everything without having to spend resources at it; I'm ok with "the fancy melee toys" being something they have to spend a modest effort to excel at.
