I may have the opportunity to play in a Quest for the Frozen Flame campaign and had an idea for a character. I have come here looking for advice on how to go about building it from everyone here.
Concept: Goblin Wolf Rider. Once to the point of getting the Mammoth Lord archetype (given in book 3 for free) riding a dire wolf. Other than that I have nothing definitive. Ranged combat, Magic combat, or melee - no preference.
I was thinking the goblin ancestry feat Rough Rider.

If you explicitly want a companion with the mount ability, keep in mind that rough rider gives you the possibility to choose a wolf if a specific perk gives you, for example, a companion with the mount ability.
But the wolf AC has no mount ability at all.
The choice would the be between using a non animal companion as mount ( rolling nature checks to move it) or ask your DM to reskin a horse as a wolf.
Giving a wolf AC the mount ability would be unbalanced, but it's a possibility too if either you and your DM are ok with it.
I am not particularly fond of normal animals and how they move in this 2e, reason why I'd ask to reskin a horse and go with a cavalier or beastmaster archerype ( I'd go with one of those archerype even with a champion or a ranger, as their AC progression is slower).
Otherwise using a wolf ACas mount ( even without the mount ability) would be totally ok too ( you'll have to renounce to something though).
You or an ally can ride your animal companion as long as it is at least one size larger than the rider. If it is carrying a rider, the animal companion can use only its land Speed, and it can't move and Support you on the same turn. However, if your companion has the mount special ability, it's especially suited for riding and ignores both of these restrictions.

I don't see why in the world you couldn't do this.
You are especially good at riding traditional goblin mounts. You gain the Ride feat, even if you don’t meet the prerequisites. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to Nature checks to use Command an Animal on a goblin dog or wolf mount. You can always select a wolf as your animal companion, even if you would usually select an animal companion with the mount special ability, such as for a champion’s steed ally.
Prerequisites Ride
You've undertaken the ultimate challenge of the Mammoth Lords and tamed a megafauna. You gain a megafauna you tamed as a young animal companion. Your megafauna animal companion must be a megafauna; see the What Counts as Megafauna? sidebar for guidance and examples. While an animal companion usually starts as Small, you can begin with a Medium version of that animal (changing no statistics other than its size)...
Who cares about the mount ability? ...BUT as it states "You are especially good at riding traditional goblin mounts" I'd let you run it, balance-schmalance. You ARE a goblin, after all!
