Anne Rice, author of ‘Interview with the Vampire,’ dead at 80

Growing up in New Orleans, I had the opportunity to meet Anne Rice (briefly) several times. I had at least two of her vampire novels autographed, and once attended one of her public Halloween parties - I was dressed as a priest, but some folk thought I was security because I had an ear piece, listening to a football game.

Anyway, I was a fan of some of her early writing, but was kind turned off by her, in my view childish, behavior when a local businessman purchased a run down property she'd included in one of her books, with the intention to develop it.

Still, she did some interesting stuff, and was otherwise a pretty decent person. Rest in Peace.

I would not be me without her Claiming of Sleeping Beauty series. Thank you, ma'am. Rest peacefully.

I have fond memories of some of her earlier works, which influenced some of my earlier characters. Rest in peace.

Too bad. But maybe now she find some peace.

Always sad to hear about an author I liked to read passing. May she rest in peace.

I read Interview in 1981 when it was a stand alone novel; before she became popular with Lestat.
In my opinion, Queen of the Damned was the final vampire novel.

I also like The Mummy, just wish it hadn't taken so long for the sequel to come out. Unfortunately, I had lost interest in her stories by then.
