Where are the hoverbikes?

General Discussion

So Hoverbikes are mentioned offhand as part of flavour texts, and they show up in art not infrequently. They're part of the setting, and a staple of the genre. So where are the rules? We've got at least 3 non-hover bikes, but the only hoverbike is the Kishalee Hoverbike. Are there hoverbikes that aren't ancient unknowable artifacts that propel you by warping space around you?

I think you can just apply the Hover graft onto a motorbike now that Tech Revolution is out.

Also, isn't the enercycle a hoverbike already? It can't fly, but I'm pretty sure the art is of a hoverbike.

This is part of my gripe about Starfinder's direction, is I'm seeing a lack of editorial consistency in certain things. The Hellknight armor plate rankings is one. Another is that enercycles are depicted both wheeled and unwheeled.

In the core book there is an unlabelled picture of a hovercycle that is probably an enercycle on page 229.

In Attack of the Swarm Book 6 p. 53 there's a "Stealth enercycle" which is clearly wheeled.

In Tech Revolution the experimental vehicle mechanic is labelled as an enercycle mechanic

So the answer is who knows, but it's also clear that whatever properties the wheel-less enercycles operate under, since they lack the hover property they don't work on water. (UNLESS YOU GOT POWER!)

I was under the impression that the enercycle would be a non-hover bike. Closer to a Tron style lightcycle, seeing as it doesn't have any hover abilities. But who knows? It is vague enough that it could go either way.

Wheeled and non-wheeled models.

I concur, it seems more like a brand name or descriptor than a specific item (which is a common theme in the game) so likely "enercycle" is just one of many different models you can fix by applying the appropriate graft
