An idea for a new "magic item"

Grand Lodge

I was thinking about the kind of items my Rogue might really like to have. One idea that came to mind where "chameleon boots". Adds to the hide rolls and passes without detection.

What do the rest of you think?

Stealth bonuses are typically found on cloaks now, while boots typically have an Acrobatics bonus.
Boots of Elvenkind
Cloak of Elvenkind

Items slots seem more significant in PF2e than they were in PF1e as PF1e offered ways around them while I haven't seen anything similar in PF2e (yet), so I'd be a little wary about offering a bonus in a different item slot as it may open up some unusual combinations...

While I get your point in terms of theme and consistency of design when considering your own homebrew items, mechanically I dont understand your statement of 'slots' being more relevant in PF2e. Item slots as a rules term dont exist anymore as I understand it and the only limit is youre investment limit? If a character wants to wear 10 different magical cloaks, while he may 'look' silly, he can.

Most GMs won't let you wear 10 cloaks at once.

Most players wouldn't even try to wear 10 cloaks.

Necklaces on the other hand, rappers have demonstrated that 15 is the lower bound, it being a gross violation of social protocols to attempt to wear fewer.

There actually is a specific rule against wearing multiple cloaks or similar items:

Chapter 11: Crafting & Treasure / Reading Items / Held or Worn wrote:

Source Core Rulebook pg. 535 1.1

If a character must wield the item to use it, this entry in the item’s stat block lists the word “held” along with the number of hands the character must use when wielding the item, such as “held in 1 hand.” The rules for carrying and using items are provided on page 271.

An item that needs to be worn to function lists “worn” as its usage. This is followed by another word if the character is limited to only one of that type of item. For instance, a character can wear any number of rings, so the entry for a ring would list only “worn.” However, if the Usage entry were “worn cloak,” then a character couldn’t wear another cloak on top of that one. It’s assumed that items are meant to be worn by humanoids; any item that can or must be worn by a different type of creature either states this in its description or has the companion trait. Most magic items a character must wear have the invested trait, as described on page 531.

Indeed. I even made a list of all the known "slots" a while back.

Looks like belts have a "belt" slot.

These are all the "slots" I've been able to find so far.

- anklets
- armbands
- backpack
- barding (for companion creatures)
- belt
- bracelet (note that slotless bracelets also appear to exist)
- bracers
- circlet
- cloak
- collar (usually, but not always for companion creatures)
- eyepiece
- garment
- gloves
- headwear
- horseshoes (for companion creatures)
- mask
- shoes

Rings, necklaces, amulets, broaches, and other small pieces of jewelry tend to be slotless it would seem.

But what about PANTS!?

There may well be more now.

A humanoid wrote that list. 4 legs bad 2 legs good!

Oh, great! I was waiting for this day when we would ask how a Centaur would wear pants so we might get official clarification.

The masses need to know!

Centaurs are all nudists.

They prefer the term naturists.
