Best / Easiest Online Battle Maps

Online Campaigns General Discussion

I want to run an AP online since our group is in lockdown. 95% can be "theatre of the mind", but sometimes you just need a battle map. The .pdf have the maps already. What's the best option if I want to throw up a map to share and let people move their counters around? I don't need the full Roll20 experience, just the occasional map.

Fog of war and line if site are bonus, but not necessary. Ease of use is more important.

Personally, I use MapTool to make maps. Others use Google Docs and say it's very easy to set up. I wouldn't say MapTool is easy to learn, but it does have some nice features like line of sight and vision blocking and dynamic lighting.

If you just want to throw a map in and allow the players to move the map around...try Astral. It has line of sight and dynamic lighting. It can do more, but it does satisfy your original requirements at the free level

I use MapTool as it's free and works really well for my needs.
(And TokenTool for the tokens)
