Medium of the Master advice

Medium of the Master looks strong in melee, but I dont saw any speaking about this archetype here. How this archetype work compared with normal medium with champion spirit?

The first difference is that even a vanilla medium who specialises in the champion spirit can channel others once in a while. MoM can't. It's fixed as a 3/4 BAB, 4-level spellcaster with severe limitations on the latter (psychic magic so can't cast defensively, may lose spellcasting due to champion influence), with extra attacks starting at 6th level, and +2 damage. Without the usual champion spirit ability it's fighting unarmed or with simple weapons rather than an exotic weapon.

It's not impossible to work with, there are a bunch of feats which work with unarmed strikes which may have been intended as monk fixes and it can take and use those. No bonus feats though. I guess I'd try to make something of one unarmed fighting style and the lowered-level medium spells with the MoM.

As the champion, your spirit bonus (and for MoMs definitely take spirit focus- it's +1 to hit, damage, AC, fort saves, and str checks basically all of the time.)

It's a highly recommended archetype if your GM is going to make it difficult to channel the spirit you want, since the MoM gets the ability to channel the champion "basically anywhere quiet" and can temp-channel for 1 influence if you are caught with your proverbial pants down.

But most mediums are going to channel the champion every day if they plan on getting into a fight, and other than "no bonus feats" the math is actually pretty good for the champion focused medium. At 6th level with spirit focus your attack progression with fists is +7/+7 and you hit for 2d6+5 (not including stat bonuses.) At level 11 you get pounce. All of the things that normally make a champion focused medium worthwhile are still available to you.

Not at all true. You're still 3/4 BAB (+4 BAB @L6; +5/5 attack w/spirit focus and the extra attack) and your damage at that level is a d8. You can learn enlarge person and cast it (2/day) to get similar damage, but that takes a full round and being a psychic spellcaster trying to do it with enemies nearby is a problem.

You're ignoring that you add your spirit bonus to "attack rolls, non-spell damage rolls, Strength checks, Strength-based skill checks, and Fortitude saves." Remember that you add your spirit bonus to every qualifying roll automatically, it's spirit surge that's the "gain influence to get a bonus" ability.

So at level 4 your spirit bonus becomes +2, and with spirit focus it becomes +3. Thus you have +3 to all your rolls to hit, hence +7/+7.

The Champion spirit is essentially a "Full BAB patch" with gaining an extra +1 to hit at level 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 with the extra iterative attack gained at level 6. It's just your second attack is much more accurate than other people get.

OK, adding spirit bonus as well does it for attack rolls.

MoM dont gain feats, but if understand correct, he still have bonus from champion spirit< gain bonus to AC, later style strikes and 1 style feat line

I nor understand, he still have penalty to spells?

Sorry, not sure what you're asking there Pro.

Sorry, i mean the champion spirit gain bonuses for attack and damage, penelty to spell level(redusing max to 0).MoM have this spell level penalty&

When the champion spirit gains 3 points of influence over the medium, they take a penalty equal to their spirit bonus to a bunch of things. One of those things is the medium's spellcasting level. MoM mediums can suffer this penalty the same way normal mediums do.

Channeling a spirit at the start of the day gives it 1 point of influence over you. The main way it gets more influence is when you use the spirit surge class ability. A MoM medium gets two free uses of spirit surge, so they would have to use spirit surge 4 times for it to have 3 points of influence (6 times if they accept a taboo from the spirit). The spirit call and ki contact archetype abilities also add influence.

I'm still not sure what you're asking, but some part of that may be helpful?

Yes, i tried to asked suffering from this penalty. Well this mean that MoM cant buff yourself with spells, or i understand this not right?

If the penalty drops your caster level below the class level you first get the spell, you can't cast the spell I think. Try not to get to 3 points of influence. Since all the ways you can gain influence are voluntary it should be possible to avoid that.

Influence is the nonus dices on checks? This looks very strong with MoM because they one step more larger

Mom have a sudden attack, or all champion spirit abilities replaced?

All the champion spirit abilities, IIRC, are altered not replaced. So you get the basic spirit ability, plus the other thing that's explained in the archetype.

The intermediate power says you also get the style strikes - so sudden attack is still available. The lesser and supreme powers look like they are effectively replaced.

Thats sounds good, because sudden attack I think is most strong spirit ability. Mom cant charge and take full round with ability, but I think Pummeling Charge can help
